WWE Smackdown Live September 27, 2016 Review
The mind games continued as Wyatt challenged Orton to come find him
Throughout the night Orton was going around the back of the arena looking for Bray Wyatt. It was stupid, and I kid you not, this seemed like it was going to build up to a boiler room brawl, which I would have loved. But nope. This just was stupid, and about as thrilling as getting kicked in the balls. I didn’t like it. You probably would’ve yawned right through it. Expect Orton to beat Wyatt, and that’s the end.
The Usos & The Ascension def. Heath Slater & Rhyno & American Alpha
The Usos are getting really good at being bad. The Ascension has some sick moves, if the WWE would allow them to showcase it. At one point a corkscrew European uppercut from a running start was thrown into the match, and I was impressed. The Usos chop blocked their way into defeating American Alpha on the outside, and Heath Slater got locked into the Tequila Sunrise, shout out to Konnan, and won the match. This was fun, Slater is over, and that’s great, but overall, not a compelling one. It was a fun little match, I’ll give it that.

Carmella & Natalya def. Nikki Bella & Naomi
This happened, and well it was an ok match. Carmella’s mean streak is rad, and I hope they continue to push that type of wrestling storyline. I like that on Smackdown, there are multiple story lines for the women, and not just one main option most often. The mix is nice. Nikki and Carmella should have a no-holds-barred match, book it!

The Miz’s Cleveland homecoming led to a major No Mercy announcement
It was in this segment that Dolph Ziggler put his career on the line against The Miz. If The Miz doesn’t drop his title at No Mercy, Dolph Ziggler is done, and he will walk away from WWE. Word on the street is that he’s done. I hope so. The Miz burying Dolph at the ppv would be glorious.
Alexa Bliss ambushed Becky Lynch
Lynch never got to the ring, oh well. I like that there’s a lot going on with the women’s division on Smackdown, and way more than Raw, way more. Feminists should be mad at Raw.
WWE World Champion AJ Styles def. Dean Ambrose
Here we go, the first ever title defense on Smackdown, except for that time Seth Rollins fought Dean Ambrose for the title, but we won’t talk about that, right? This match was ok, Aj Styles did well. Dean Ambrose wrestles the same match every time, and it was boring. He is resting on his laurels, and I’m tired of seeing the same match over and over again. Cena was at ringside and got involved to cost Ambrose the match, and that was that. Well, only to have Cena FU everyone, I mean Attitude Adjustment and say they couldn’t see him. Whatever.

Overall, this wasn’t a great show. It went by fast, so I’ll give them that. Was Raw better than Smackdown? Crap, maybe it was. I don’t know. Both shows had ups and downs, neither one being better than the other if you ask me.
