WWE TLC 2016 Results and Review The Heel Show

Dude Throws a Ladder, Really, Who Throws a Ladder?
WWE TLC 2016 took place this past weekend in Dallas. As is my usual course, I was going to go, but decided not to fork over the thousands of dollars to fly to Dallas in favor of going to Vegas to see Penn & Teller for far less. I will be missing Raw and Smackdown until later this week, but in the mean time, let's consider the PPV and what went down with this review of epic proportions. Ok, it's not epic at all.

WWE TLC 2016 Results

Apollo Crews, American Alpha & The Hype Bros def. Curt Hawkins, The Vaudevillains & The Ascension
Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt def. SmackDown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno
Nikki Bella def. Carmella (No Disqualification Match)
Intercontinental Champion The Miz def. Dolph Ziggler (Ladder Match)
Baron Corbin def. Kalisto (Chairs Match)
Alexa Bliss def. SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch (Tables Match)
WWE World Champion AJ Styles def. Dean Ambrose (Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match)

WWE TLC 2016 Review

Apollo Crews, American Alpha & The Hype Bros def. Curt Hawkins, The Vaudevillains & The Ascension

Oh how far The Vaudevillains have fallen, right? I haven't seen a tag team drop so hard since, I don't know, name a Tag Team and you're probably right. This was a throwaway match that did in fact get the crowd HYPED. I had a pizza in the oven, so I wasn't paying that much attention, but this was a good overall tag match with some nice points. Apollo Crews should be a huge star, instead of a jobber.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5

Randy Orton & Bray Wyatt def. SmackDown Tag Team Champions Heath Slater & Rhyno

The tag team title match was the opener and it wasn't even that long. In fact, it was one of the shorter matches on the card, and that was ok. I did not call The Wyatts finally getting a title, but they managed to get Rhyno and Slater to slip up and they won. I guess that's the end of the line for the two interesting duo. What will become of them now? I'm hoping Slater and/or Rhyno get a shot at the IC Title.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5 (Out of Nowhere)

Nikki Bella def. Carmella (No Disqualification Match)

I thought this match was fine. It wasn't great, it wasn't bad, it just was there to fill the minutes. I thought we would get a lot more punishment since this was NO DQ, but it was fairly weak. Carmella loses clean, and Nikki finds out that Natalya attacked her. Ok. Sure. Light kendo stick shots, a fire extinguisher, and that's that.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5

Intercontinental Champion The Miz def. Dolph Ziggler (Ladder Match)

They keep telling us that this is the last time the two are meeting. So is this really the last time? Probably not. Dolph Ziggler and The Miz put on a nice showcase of punishment. I've been saying that Dolph should be at the top of the proverbial WWE, but hey, it just doesn't happen. He gets another loss, with the Miz once again pushing for a match against Daniel Bryan. I don't know what to tell you, it's a weird push forward.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Baron Corbin def. Kalisto (Chairs Match)

Perhaps the best chairs match ever. Corbin and Kalisto beat the hell out of each other, with some nice spots using the chairs. Corbin is getting so good at the timing he has with his move. The Deep Six on the floor, and the End of Days onto a pile of chairs is definitely great. I loved it. Kalisto has to get to the cruiserweight division, he's getting beat down on Smackdown.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Alexa Bliss def. SmackDown Women’s Champion Becky Lynch (Tables Match)

Bliss and Lynch do not have a lot of chemistry. I'll tell you that straight out. Not only that, the two women couldn't even figure out how to set up a table properly. It also showed that they couldn't put up the tables properly, as they were too heavy. Ugh. Perhaps the teams should've set up tables beforehand? I don't know. Bliss beat the holy hell out of Lynch, and eventually threw her through a table. Afterwards someone tried to interview Lynch, which was dumb.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5

WWE World Champion AJ Styles def. Dean Ambrose (Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match)

If you don't think that Aj Styles is the best wrestler in the world, you're an absolute idiot. This was a 5 star match, even for Ambrose. There were so many spots here. Styles tore his pants, Ambrose got a shocker finish, and wow. Everything you could think of to do with a ladder, spring boards, drop kicks, and just about anything you can throw at someone was done here. James Ellsworth came out and caused Ambrose the match, which led to Ambrose to crashing through 2 tables at ringside. I found it weird that Ambrose had his eyes open after falling through the tables, almost in protest that he's not the champion or winning. It was a weird thing. I may be the only one to notice it.

Match Rating: 5 out of 5

The only big thing to go back and watch this event for is the main event. Other than that, you're going to find that this was a forgettable show.

WWE TLC PPV 2016 Predictions Who Wins and Who Loses?

Well here we go again, another PPV and it’s only a few weeks after the last one. With that in mind, I’m going to be giving you my predictions for this weekend’s TLC line up. These are the announce matches and my ideas as to who is going to win. Last PPV, I did terribly, only being correct about 2 matches, but this time, I’m going to be right on all of them! So here we go.

WWE TLC PPV 2016 Predictions

NO DQ Match
Carmella defeats Nikki Bella

Despite the two throwing down this week, I’m going to give the win to Carmella. I think that she needs a win more than Nikki does, and Nikki needs to toughen up some more. Perhaps even get some training from John Cena for the next match these two will no doubt have.

Baron Corbin defeats Kalisto in a Chairs Match

Kalisto is going to lose this match, plain and simple. If the rumors are true that The Big Breakfast is going to be groomed to fight John Cena, then this is going to go down as a match in which Corbin wins again. However, no matter how wins, Corbin’s hair loss continues.

Smackdown Live Women’s Championship Match
Alexa Bliss defeats Becky Lynch

Becky Lynch is going through a table, she weighs more, and can take the loss. It’s time for a heel champion, and a cocky heel at best. Bliss to win the title and hold it up high, only to keep it for a long time.

WWE World Heavyweight Championship TLC Match
Aj Styles defeats Dean Ambrose

I’m going to call it here, Aj Styles continues his winning streak by defeating Dean Ambrose. I expect James Ellsworth to try and help Dean, only to get knocked the F out by Styles again. Dean will most likely have to choose from helping Ellsworth from dying for some reason and getting the belt, choosing the belt. I highly doubt Dean is getting the title. I do forecast a Dean Ambrose and James Ellsworth tag title run however. Now that could be interesting.

Smackdown Live Tag Team Championship Match
Heath Slater and Rhyno defeats The Wyatt Family

I think the Wyatt Family is going to have a turn here, and Orton will finally get away from Bray. If not, then they will at least lose, with Heath Slater and Rhyno barely getting the win. The Wyatt’s will then fight amongst themselves and that will be that. I don’t think it’s time to take the belts off of Slater and Rhyno.

The Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match
The Miz defeats Dolph Ziggler

Again, these two fighting? Dolph loses, and that’s it. I don’t care about this match.

There you have it, my predictions for this week’s show. Let’s see how it all goes down live on WWE Network and other providers.

ECW Guilty As Charged 1999 Results and Review: A Better VHS Experience

January 10, 1999 ECW held a PPV from Florida. This had an attendance of 2,600 people, but when you saw it on camera, it looked packed, as it was definitely sold out. 1999 was a great year for the company, or so I can only assume. Whatever the case may have been, I didn’t get the PPV until January 11, 1999. I got the replay and it was only $19.99 from what I remember. My stepfather said I could order it, so I did. I recall recording it onto a VHS tape, and it ended up taping over an old porno I had recorded from the Spice Network. Oh well. I have gone back to watch this on the WWE Network, and I can reassure you that this is NOT the same as the RF Video, the official DVD and the VHS that is floating around. It is completely censored, and edited, and you can see it throughout. The music has been changed, the crowd noises aren’t the same, there’s a lot of lost audio, and it’s just not great. However, the matches are there, so that’s what we will talk about here, as we are GUILTY AS CHARGED!

ECW Guilty As Charged 1999 Results

Axl Rotten and Balls Mahoney defeated The FBI, and Danny Doring and Amish Roadkill

This opening match turned into a hardcore three-way dance, and it wasn’t great. It had some good spots and the crowd was way into it. However, from a wrestling standpoint, it was not that great. I was impressed with how good Amish Roadkill was, as he was a bigger guy that could fly around the ring. The rest were just bit players, with Rotten and Mahoney getting the big win with chairs. It’s a fun opening match, but nothing great here.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5

Tajiri defeated Super Crazy

Now this is a cruiserweight match! Super Crazy and Tajiri went back and forth. They knew how to counter things, they were flying around the ring, and they were doing things that you would not see in the heavyweight division. These guys really put on a show in under 12 minutes, and it’s sad to see the current WWE division flounder when this had the crowd going insane. Great match with Tajiri picking up the win.

Match Rating: 4 out of 5

Sid Vicious defeated John Kronus

John Kronus was in ring waiting for his opponent, and out came Sid! Sid got such a huge pop, it was absolutely insane. He went into the ring and threw Kronus through a table on the outside, then brought him back in for a powerbomb and the pin. Sid Vicious would go on to WCW in 1999, but before that, this was a great squash that introduced Sid to the ECW brand for a cup of coffee.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5

The Dudley Boyz defeated New Jack and Spike Dudley

The Dudleys came out and had an open challenge for anyone that was willing to come out. Well, the answer to their challenge was none other than Spike Dudley and New Jack! They came out with plunder and beat the crap out of the Dudley Boyz, but eventually they lost the match when the numbers game was just too much for them.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Rob Van Dam defated Lance Storm

I was never a big Lance Storm fan, and this didn’t do him any favors. It was ok. The match had some moments, but it was clear that the two didn’t mesh that well overall. I’ve seen way better from the two of these guys. They did put on a good match, though, nothing great, but good enough for a 20 minute TV Title match. This was seriously edited, so I hated the WWE version.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5

Justin Credible defeated Tommy Dreamer in a Stairway To Hell Match

Wow, Justin Credible should’ve received a better shake in WWE. Him and dreamer put on a 4 star classic that is absolutely great. You’re going to find this hard hitting match to be an instant classic. Credible took a beating, but in the end Tommy Dreamer was the one that got the big beat down. He was beaten to a pulp and right when he was about to get the upper hand, out came Terry Funk with a trash can to beat the holy hell out of Dreamer. Credible would get the victory here, and Tommy would once again be on the receiving end of a beat down.

Match Rating: 4 out of 5

Taz defeated Shane Douglas for the ECW World Title

The culmination of months of feuding came down to the these two getting a one on one brawl. This went all over the building. The two fought back and forth through the crowd, and onto the ramps placed throughout the arena. It all went down in under 25 minutes with Taz eventually getting the big win. Note that Shane Douglas had a cast on his arm, and looked a little heavy. Taz was in his prime here and the big win finally cemented him as a huge player in ECW and the world. I loved it.

Match Rating 4 out of 5

Overall ECW Guilty as Charged was a great show, but with the Network, you are getting an edited, neutered version of the event. It is still worth a watch, especially for the cruiserweight match, and the final two matches which were just brutal. ECW was absolutely great in 199i if you ask me. I’ll have more reviews as I go along watching more of these events from the past.

WWE 205 Live November 29, 2016 Results and Review Half The Building Leaves

More of This Is Needed In The Division
The new 205 Live show showed up on the WWE Network immediately following Smackdown. This show was filmed right after the main Smackdown show. By all accounts from people that were there, half of the arena left. If you look online, you will find a lot of photographs of people leaving when this show was filmed. The crowds absolutely do not like the Cruiserweights, and there’s some serious problems that I noticed with this showcase. Here we go, my thoughts on 205 Live’s first show.

WWE 205 Live November 29, 2016 Results and Review

The WWE Universe is introduced to the Cruiserweights of WWE 205 Live
The Bollywood Boyz def. Tony Nese & Drew Gulak
Jack Gallagher def. Ariya Daivari
Rich Swann def. The Brian Kendrick to become the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion

WWE 205 Live November 29, 2016 Results and Review

The Bollywood Boyz def. Tony Nese & Drew Gulak

The Bollywood Boyz are great, and they remind of the Young Bucks. I wouldn’t be surprised if they feuded with the Young Bucks when they get signed to WWE contracts. Speaking of which, Gulak and Nese didn’t seem to fit in with the overall style of the Boyz. This was the most “cruiserweight” friendly match I’ve seen. What I mean by that is that there was a lot of fast paced action, great aerials, and nice elements that the big guys don’t do. Well, except for the Tope Suicida which EVERY WWE wrestler seems to do now. Good match, fun stuff.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Jack Gallagher def. Ariya Daivari

Gallagher is awesome. I love how amidst the faster wrestlers, he’s a thinking man’s wrestler. His moves are performance art, not just wrestling. That’s what the WWE needs more of, a technically sound wrestler that is also a showman. This was great, and Daivari lost after a lot of hiccups thrown him into a loop. Gallagher doesn’t look like much, but his crisp, funny style is perfect. Great stuff in my book.

Match Rating: 4 out of 5

Rich Swann def. The Brian Kendrick to become the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion

You could tell that Swann was going to win the title. He was smiling and laughing the whole time, and Kendrick broke character at a few times before the match even started. In fact, Kendrick wasn’t given an entrance! This match had some great moments. Swann is so good, so clean, crisp, and fast when he is allowed to put his moves through. Brian Kendrick can go fast too, but for whatever reason he’s wrestling the SLOW WWE style. This match had a lot of low points, with a lot of rest holds and lots of stops that didn’t need to be put in the match. I know they were under timing issues, but still. Swann won the match, but this was not a 5 star classic by any stretch.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Overall, the show felt like a discount WWE Main Event or WWE Superstars. The matches were lopsided at times, and while these guys are supposed to be high flyers, you didn't see it all that much. I recently went back to watch some WCW and ECW matches from the cruiserweights and the timing is way different from those and what this is. Plus, the crowd left! So you know this isn't going to do well. I would much rather have more high flying, fast paced, catch as catch can type of wrestling, but that's just me. We'll see how things progress.

WWE Smackdown Live November 29, 2016 Results and Review A Long 2 Hours

Becky Lynch's Butt Broke This Table, Lynch's Nose Got Busted
Wow, Tuesday has just become longer if you’re a wrestling fan. Not only will I be posting this review, but I will also be talking about 206 Live. That’s a full 3 hours of wrestling on Tuesday, and of course 3 hours for Raw, and a PPV this week, and in a couple of weeks? That’s a LOT of wrestling, or rather, entertainment as they now call it. Whatever the case is, here we go, another long winded array of crap.

WWE Smackdown Live November 29, 2016 Review

Things got heated between Becky Lynch and Alexa Bliss during their TLC contract signing

Becky Lynch is a beautiful woman. So is Alexa Bliss. However, I can’t understand what Lynch is saying. She sounds like she has marbles in her mouth, and at times, you can tell that she doesn’t understand the script that she’s saying. It was painfully obvious in her jokes and timing, and Alexa Bliss had to pretend that it stung. It felt very awkward to watch. Lynch and Bliss fought, with Lynch going through a table with her butt. I’m going to predict that Bliss wins the title and Lynch is left in a heap of table scraps. I’m tired of her as champion, that’s for sure.

Dolph Ziggler & Kalisto def. The Miz & Baron Corbin via Disqualification

Boring. NO one cares about these guys, right? I’m so tired of seeing Miz and Ziggler wrestle. Kalisto and Corbin is overshadowed in my book. It’s being overshadowed by Corbin’s receding hairline. Sorry bro, it’s time to shave your head.

Match Rating: 0 out of 5

Nikki Bella reached her breaking point with Carmella

Carmella came out and laid down some hot fire against Bella. Bella ran out and beat her up. That’s it.

Dean Ambrose hosted The Ambrose Asylum with James Ellsworth

Holy crap. Is there no wrestling on this show? Seriously. Ambrose and Ellsworth chatted, but the real highlight here was Aj Styles. Styles came out and beat the holy crap out of James Ellsworth, and delivered one of the scariest Styles Clashes in the world. He did it off the stairs onto Ellsworth, and this after he nearly crumpled a chair across his back. Ellsworth was stretchered out. Expect him to get revenge at the PPV and cost Ambrose the match somehow.

Kane def. Luke Harper

News Flash! Kane is still relevant somehow? Boring match, Harper goes down, I don’t care. Harper’s younger than I am and already losing his hair.

Match Rating: 1 out of 5

Bray Wyatt & Randy Orton def. American Alpha in a SmackDown Tag Team Title No. 1 Contenders’ Match

American Alpha desperately needs Kurt Angle. If Kurt Angle came back as a comedy coach gimmick, I would mark out so huge. American Alpha is great, don’t get me wrong, but this loss only proves that they need a heater. Wyatt and Orton win, but I suspect Orton betraying the family leading to a weird stipulation match that will cause the Wyatt’s to disband.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles engaged in a backstage brawl

Oh, this happened. Yeah. I didn’t care. Did you? Smackdown sucked this week, let’s be honest.
