WWE 205 Live November 29, 2016 Results and Review Half The Building Leaves

More of This Is Needed In The Division
The new 205 Live show showed up on the WWE Network immediately following Smackdown. This show was filmed right after the main Smackdown show. By all accounts from people that were there, half of the arena left. If you look online, you will find a lot of photographs of people leaving when this show was filmed. The crowds absolutely do not like the Cruiserweights, and there’s some serious problems that I noticed with this showcase. Here we go, my thoughts on 205 Live’s first show.

WWE 205 Live November 29, 2016 Results and Review

The Bollywood Boyz def. Tony Nese & Drew Gulak

The Bollywood Boyz are great, and they remind of the Young Bucks. I wouldn’t be surprised if they feuded with the Young Bucks when they get signed to WWE contracts. Speaking of which, Gulak and Nese didn’t seem to fit in with the overall style of the Boyz. This was the most “cruiserweight” friendly match I’ve seen. What I mean by that is that there was a lot of fast paced action, great aerials, and nice elements that the big guys don’t do. Well, except for the Tope Suicida which EVERY WWE wrestler seems to do now. Good match, fun stuff.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Jack Gallagher def. Ariya Daivari

Gallagher is awesome. I love how amidst the faster wrestlers, he’s a thinking man’s wrestler. His moves are performance art, not just wrestling. That’s what the WWE needs more of, a technically sound wrestler that is also a showman. This was great, and Daivari lost after a lot of hiccups thrown him into a loop. Gallagher doesn’t look like much, but his crisp, funny style is perfect. Great stuff in my book.

Match Rating: 4 out of 5

Rich Swann def. The Brian Kendrick to become the new WWE Cruiserweight Champion

You could tell that Swann was going to win the title. He was smiling and laughing the whole time, and Kendrick broke character at a few times before the match even started. In fact, Kendrick wasn’t given an entrance! This match had some great moments. Swann is so good, so clean, crisp, and fast when he is allowed to put his moves through. Brian Kendrick can go fast too, but for whatever reason he’s wrestling the SLOW WWE style. This match had a lot of low points, with a lot of rest holds and lots of stops that didn’t need to be put in the match. I know they were under timing issues, but still. Swann won the match, but this was not a 5 star classic by any stretch.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Overall, the show felt like a discount WWE Main Event or WWE Superstars. The matches were lopsided at times, and while these guys are supposed to be high flyers, you didn't see it all that much. I recently went back to watch some WCW and ECW matches from the cruiserweights and the timing is way different from those and what this is. Plus, the crowd left! So you know this isn't going to do well. I would much rather have more high flying, fast paced, catch as catch can type of wrestling, but that's just me. We'll see how things progress.
