WWE Monday Night Raw January 2, 2017 Results and Review The Burial of Strowman

I took some time off from writing to think about what I wanted to do with this year’s blog. I still want to start a podcast, but I can’t really do it right now. So instead of going that route, I’m going to continue to write on this blog, and discuss what is going on in my head, and the world of wrestling in general. With that in mind, consider the first Raw of 2017. It was a good night for the shovel, because people got buried on this show, and you know you either loved it, hated it, or just didn’t notice it.

WWE Monday Night Raw January 2, 2017 Review

You know what’s up. I don’t give you a rundown of everything, but rather notes on the bigger picture, and well, today, there’s a lot to explore.

Mick Foley Is Losing It

This was the worst I’ve seen Foley. He didn’t remember certain things, he was broken down by Stephanie McMahon, and well, he didn’t look good in my view. Sure, he’s skinnier, but he’s not walking right and you just know that this job is causing him issue. Stephanie McMahon is just lost out there, doing something between heel and face, and then face again, I don’t know. She’s not good in this role in my view. What a way to start the new year…boring.

Seth Rollins def. WWE Universal Champion Kevin Owens via Disqualification

The same guy that couldn’t put away Brown Shoeman, somehow gets a shot at Kevin Owens? Not only that, Owens used to be a prize fighter, but here, he’s just another cowardly heel that can’t seem to win against some of the main roster guys. Rollins gets disqualified on purpose, this match was boring, and we move on. Oh and Owens can’t be at ringside later for the Jericho match, man.

Karl Anderson def. Raw Tag Team Champion Cesaro

Forgettable to say the least.

Braun Strowman def. Sami Zayn in a Last Man Standing Match

This was match of the night. However, Zayn was buried here. He kept pushing to beat down Shoeman, but he couldn’t do it. Chair shots, table breaking, and yet nothing. Shoeman is the second coming of the Undertaker, that is until later this night. Zayn was dead, and basically not winning anyone over. He should’ve won this match, and nope. He loses, because WWE doesn’t seem to have the same investment that they do in Owens. Oh well, Zayn’s done in my book.

Match Rating: 4 out of 5

Xavier Woods def. Titus O’Neil

Nope.

Drew Gulak def. Cedric Alexander

My stream messed up. I guess Gulak wins, but I don’t really know who he is, and I don’t like the Cruiserweight division.

Match Rating: 1 out of 5

U.S. Champion Roman Reigns def. Chris Jericho

Did anyone really think Reigns was going to look weak against Jericho? Roman Reigns is the new Super Cena, only more annoying. He also is looking a little lighter than he was earlier in the air. Perhaps it’s because he’s not on the juice anymore. Jericho is always fun watch, and he tried to win via the old Eddie Guerrero screw job, but nope, the ref didn’t buy it, Reigns hit a spear, and pinned Jericho. The U.S. Title is the worst title on Raw, and it’s because Reigns has it.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

TJ Perkins def. The Brian Kendrick

Nope.

Match Rating: 0 out of 5

Rusev and Jinder Mahal def. Big Cass

Jingle my balls is on the roids. Rusev sucks. They are wasting Enzo and Cass.

Match Rating: 1 out of 5

Bayley def. Nia Jax to become No. 1 Contender to the Raw Women’s Championship

This match was interesting, until Sasha Banks came out for the distraction. Bayley hit a good suplex off the middle rope, and that was that. Jax does the job, and now Bayley will face Charlotte. Here’s the thing, before this match, Bayley was run down by Stephanie McMahon. It was stupid. I hated it. I don’t understand the creative team, and well, I don’t understand how Charlotte’s going to lose against Bayley. Oh wait. She’s not.

Goldberg appeared on “The Kevin Owens Show”

BORING. BORING. Kevin Owens used to be the prize fighter, now he’s just another cowardly champion on a show that has more talking than wrestling. This was ok, but the true story here was that Brown Shoeman was buried by Goldberg and Reigns. That’s it. That’s your story.

Burials on Raw this week:

Nia Jax
Sami Zayn
Brown Shoeman

That’s your Raw, I’m going to go throw up now. What a revolution? FML.
