Damien Sandow Was Fired Because of Each and Every One of You

One of the things that people forget about the WWE is simple, it’s a business. No matter how you want to praise or hate it, it’s a business and it has a lot riding on what they do. This includes promoting, demoting, and firing individuals that they feel aren’t going to help them create the platform that they want to promote. Now, while there’s a lot of rage in regards to Roman Reigns as champion, the company has done something that every wrestling promotion needs, and it’s create someone to hate. Where would WCW be without the absolute insanity of 1996 Bash At The Beach. Let me ask you this before I move forward, how much trash was thrown into the ring when Roman Reigns won the WWE Title? Now, how much trash was thrown into the ring when Hogan cut that blistering promo and told the fans to stick it? The contrast is huge.

Follow The Money

There are a lot of reasons why companies hire and fire people, but in the WWE, chances are they don’t fire people that are making them a lot of money. Was Damien Sandow making them a lot of money? Probably not, and while I cannot cite figures, I can say this much, no business fires someone that makes them money. With that in mind, consider the amount of money that was spent on Damien Sandow merchandise. If Sandow’s merchandise did in fact sell out every time it was put up online, introduced into the arenas, and people were constantly asking for it, chances are that they wouldn’t have let him go. This is directly related to the “business” of running wrestling for the WWE. They are in it to make money, and if Sandow’s merch aligned with the amount of fanfare he received online and in the pops at events, then we would be having a different conversation right now.

Did you buy these shirts?

Of course you didn't.

Do you really believe that the WWE Executives scoff at merch sales? What if 300,000 of these shirts were sold? If each Raw building has 15,000 in attendance, then it's feasible that 300,000 shirts sold shouldn't be a huge issue. Plus, how many internet wrestling fans are there? If each one bought 1 shirt, Sandow would still be employed.

Where Were You?

There are two questions that need to be asked, and the first one is simple, where were you? Seriously, where were you when Sandow needed support? Did you spend a lot of money supporting his cause? Beyond cheers and boos, was anyone buying the shirts, were they wearing them at the arenas? Was there a buzz for this guy outside of the roars of the crowd in recent months. The WWE runs shows all over the country, Sandow was most likely booked on a lot of shows, was there insane amounts of uproar for him? I can’t say. But what I can say, is that despite all of the boo hoos that I see online, I don’t see a lot of people pointing to the fact that he wrestled twice this past week on WWE programming. Now, either the WWE edited the reactions, or perhaps the internet wrestling community really wasn’t that into Sandow, like they think.

Who’s Next?

The final question remains, who’s next? I’m already seeing a lot of articles talking about how WWE really missed the ball with Sandow. But I would like to say different. I’m blaming the fans. If you put your money where your mouth is, and you bought a TON of Sandow merch, perhaps you can sit down. Everyone else whining and moaning about how he wasn’t used, or that WWE executives are dumb, stand up and realize you’re the problem. The next favorite of yours is going to get fired, and chances are it’s because they aren’t generating revenue for the business model of WWE. Part of that model is simple, merchandise sales. Simple as that. The NWO would’ve tanked if NO ONE ever bought a simple t-shirt. It’s not rocket science.

Oh, and one last thing, You’re Welcome!

WWE Superstars 5/7/2016 Results and Review The Last Match of Damien Sandow

Immediately after announcing that it was Damien Sandow, the crowd exploded, but was muted. You could hear it being muted, but oh well. Byron Saxton and Tom Phillips were the announcers for the night, and this really was an interesting show to watch. I recommend checking it out.

Darren Young defeated Damien Sandow (LAST MATCH IN WWE)

What a way to send out your talent than to bury them. Sandow got buried this week, especially if you were following the dirt sheets, as NO ONE mentioned his last two matches at length. At least not that I know of, because hey, I know everything, right? The commentary team kept talking about how Damien Sandow was a fan favorite and he had new aggression. Yeah, yeah, well then why fire him? He got beat down in this match, and would eventually lose to Darren Young, with a non-finisher. What a sad state. This match was hard to watch, knowing that Sandow is officially gone from WWE.

A ton of this show was just WWE Raw recaps, so it’s not an essential show to watch.

Apollo Crews defeated Heath Slater

Slater still has a job? Sandow is fired but Slater has a job? What the hell? All but a few members of the original Nexus are left, aren’t they? That burial that Cena gave them at Summerslam still looming. This was a lengthier match than the one he had on Main Event. Heath Slater put on a good fight, the Social Outcasts were trying to mess up things outside, but nope, it was all Crews. Heath Slater and the Social Jobbers lose again.

Not a great show, lots of recaps,  2 matches total.

WWE Main Event 5/3/2016 Results and Review Damien Sandow’s Second To Last Match

And away we go, more content, more reviews, more results, and more time wasted with WWE wrestling. People complain about the flagship shows, but maybe they should be watching these B shows, because WWE is putting on a showcase of talent. Here’s my thoughts on 5/3/2016 edition of WWE Main Event, and I’ll have a review of Superstars coming up soon.

Titus Oneil defeated Damien Sandow

Damien Sandow had a match on main event, and you know what? No dirt sheet mentioned this, or the fact that he was going to get fired, so people are idiots. If you pay attention to the commentary by The King, you’ll hear about how terrible Sandow is, but of course he is the heel announcer. This match would prove to be Damien Sandow’s last match with WWE, and you know what? The crowd wasn’t exactly going crazy for what he was doing in the ring. That being said, goodbye Sandow. Sandow lost after getting hit with Clash of the Titus, a sit out power bomb and pin combination. This was the end of Sandow, and well, you could tell. The crowd was dead for most of the match, so that’s the end of that.

Quick EDIT! DAMIEN SANDOW HAD ANOTHER MATCH, IT WAS ON SUPERSTARS! REVIEW PENDING

Apollo Crews defeated Victor of The Ascension

By the time this match occurred, I realized why people don’t really watch WWE Main Event. This is a side show of Raw, to be honest. Oh well, such is life, right? I didn’t expect much from this, but Apollo Crews is quite good, and again, he’s undefeated, and he is tearing through wrestlers. He had a little trouble here, but nothing too difficult. Another shorter match than I expected, but Apollo doesn’t need a ton of time to get through his move set.

Baron Corbin defeated Sin Cara

Not a bad match, but of course, you knew exactly what was going on. Corbin defeated Sin Cara and that was the end of days…wow what a pun! Corbin is growing on me, and Sin Cara should go back to lucha in Mexico, where they will appreciate him more. He’s lost here.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Stardust

Now this wasn’t half bad. Ziggler and Stardust put on a showcase of fast paced wrestling, and reversals. I’m surprised that this wasn’t on Raw. Stardust would end up losing after a superkick knocked him senseless. This was really fun to watch, and it’s a testament to the two’s work ethic. Too bad no one saw it.

WWE Smackdown 4/28/2016 Results and Review The Last Stop Before Payback

Aj Styles Is Part of The Bullet Club
The last stop before Payback was paved with matches on Smackdown, and an opening that had none other than Roman Reigns. As soon as his music hit, the crowd went into a lot of boos, but perhaps they were saying Boo-urns? Boo-Urns?

Anyways, this night on Smackdown started with a Roman Reigns promo that was interrupted by The Miz, and for his troubles? A punch in the mouth and a challenge. Roman Reigns left standing tall, as it were, and Smackdown starts fast, and goes into overdrive before Payback this Sunday.

WWE Smackdown 4/28/2016 Results and Review

Sami Zayn, Kalisto, and Cesaro defeated The League of Nations via countout

This match wasn’t half bad. There were some quick tags here and there, and some nice offense on both sides. The League of Nations took on a lot of work load, punishing the smaller competitors. The best part here was the disintegration of the League of Nations. Everyone got into a shoving match, and Del Rio left first, then Rusev left, allowing for Sheamus to take on 3 other competitors! Watch for Cesaro running across the floor and nearly knocking Sheamus’s head off with a European upper cut. Holy crap! It nearly took out the camera guy as well! Sheamus couldn’t take on the 3, and eventually was counted out, and that was that. The end of the League of Nations.

Baron Corbin defeated Damien Sandow

It was nice to see Sandow getting a payday, but it was all for not, as he got completely buried by Corbin. He barely got any offense, Corbin delivered his moves, beat down Sandown and hit End of Days. Sandow still gets a pay check, but man, what a waste of talent WWE, what a waste.

The Ambrose Asylum Segment with Natalya and Charlotte

Not a great segment. Ambrose is ok, but I don’t understand why he’s a lunatic? He doesn’t really form that notion of insane like Brian Pillman or any other insane guys. Even Norman Smiley did a better insane gimmick when he was screaming Norman Smiley. Natalya and Charlotte went at it verbally, and I didn’t care. Perhaps I was just tired. I stayed up late last night, watching “How To Get Away With Murder”. I didn’t pick up the Ric Flair, “kill yourself” line which many people were talking about on Twitter, but hey, that’s what happens in post, right?

Enzo and Cass defeated The Social Outcasts (Jobbers)

This match was exactly what you’d expect before a pay per view event. Enzo and Cass did all the work, running around going through the motions of their duo’s offense. Curtis Axle showed up to fight, and that was interesting, but I couldn’t resist calling him Michael McGullicutty. The Vaudevillains showed up, of course to watch, and The New Day were on commentary. This match was entertaining, no doubt, and the commentary was funny too, but overall, it was obvious what this match was for and what would occur. That’s not to say it was bad, it was fast paced, lots of great action, and really showcased the Enzo and Cass duality. I liked it. Good stuff, just not that important overall. The Social Jobbers are still just that, jobbers.

Apollo Crews defeated Stardust

Another match from Raw on Smackdown, and you know how this one went. Stardust is reaching the limit of his gimmick if you ask me. This match showcased Crews as a stellar athlete, and dominant newcomer. He wins easily.

Roman Reigns defeated The Miz

This was a champion versus champion match, and it wasn’t half bad. Roman Reigns isn’t a terrible wrestlers, and The Miz really hung in there with the champion. The match was a good main event for Smackdown, and Aj Styles at ringside was great. This one really got my attention, with lots of back and forth, high flying, and fast paced mat wrestling. Reigns’ showing off his power was good, and this thing really boiled down at the end.

After the match the Bullet Club showed up as well as the Usos. The question was whether or not Aj Styles was in cahoots with the Bullet Club, and well, we found out! On to Payback! Predictions coming, and a new column is coming also Mondays, here at sirjorge’s wwe blog.

Overall Rating: 8 out of 10 for good wrestling, and less talking.

WWE Royal Rumble 2016 or 1999 Results and Review

We are in a time machine aren’t we? If you read my Royal Rumble 2016 predictions, you know that all my picks were wrong. I still, for the life of me, cannot believe Daniel Bryan didn’t come out of the back to enter the ring at number 29 or 30. Whatever the case is, though, things got shaken up. Let’s get to the results and review, but first the review, then the results, because that’s how I do this thing now.

Mark Henry and Jack Swagger defeated Jobbers

The other teams in this match were nothing short of jobbers. This is an absolutely terrible opening. But, I will say this much, the guys put on a fun, fast paced match. The ending was clumsy. Henry and Swagger got a shot for the Royal Rumble. Oh boy. The best thing was that Damien Sandow was in this match, which was kind of cool.

Dean Ambrose defeated Kevin Owens – Intercontinental Championship Last Man Standing Match

This was one hell of a match. Owens and Ambrose took a beating, but it was Ambrose that really impressed with the falls and protection of Ambrose. Sick table bumps, and a 2 table dive to end this one, this match was incredible. It was a great opener, and definitely put on a showcase for fans and naysayers alike.

The New Day defeated The Usos – WWE Tag Team Championship Match

“What’s the New Day’s gimmick?” – My Wife. Yeah, what is their gimmick? This match was ok, but it’s painfully obvious that The Usos were outmatched, outclassed, and out wrestled. Third man antics or not, this was a match that painfully showed off that the tag division is still diminished. It was an ok match.

Kalisto Defeated Alberto Del Rio – United States Championship Match

Boring match, but it’s nice to see Kalisto get a push. Del Rio is ripped, man, I wish I had that kind of muscle mass. Oh well.

Charlotte defeated Becky Lynch

This was a good overall match, but with Ric Flair interfering, and The Boss showing up at the end, this was a bit mired. Lynch can really wrestle, but Charlotte’s antics are going to cause a shake up in this division. Then again, who knows. I liked this match, but it was not as good as the NXT Brooklyn match that The Boss had.

Triple H won the 2016 Royal Rumble Match

Let’s talk about AJ MOTHER EFFIN STYLES! Holy crap! AJ STYLES! AJ STYLES! This was an incredible reaction. The rest? Well, it was good to see things here. However, Triple H winning and Roman Reigns getting another loss is definitely not a great one. Let's talk game changers though, since we know that Triple H lost.

Chris Jericho’s 50 minute run! Holy crap, I thought Jericho may have won this match after seeing his incredible performance.

Brock Lesnar and Brown Snowman. Snowman wouldn’t go down. Lesnar did a lot of hard style hits, and took down a lot of the Wyatt Family, but he got dumped out.

AJ Styles, holy crap. Holy Crap!

Roman Reigns is no Steve Austin.

Kevin Owens against the world, holy crap. Watch this again just to see him wrestle. Incredible.

That’s the end, that’s the end.

WWE Royal Rumble 2016 Results

Mark Henry & Jack Swagger def. The Dudley Boyz, Darren Young & Damien Sandow and The Ascension (Fatal 4-Way Tag Team Match to Qualify for the Royal Rumble Match)
Dean Ambrose (c) def. Kevin Owens (Intercontinental Championship Last Man Standing Match)
The New Day (c) def. The Usos (WWE Tag Team Championship Match)
Kalisto def. Alberto Del Rio (c) (United States Championship Match)
Charlotte (c) def. Becky Lynch (Divas Championship Match)
Triple H won the 2016 Royal Rumble Match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship

Overall, this was a B rating, with some disappointment coming through at the end. I wanted Aj Styles to win, or Daniel Bryan to show up. That’s it. Good night! Or whatever. I’m getting HULU tomorrow as a result of the Rumble, that’s for sure.

WWE Monday Night Raw 10/27 Review - Super Cena Still Alive

Src WWE.com
Make this two in a row for the Mexican. I saw Raw on HULU and while it’s not 100% the same, it is better than nothing at all, since the alternative is in fact nothing at all. I’m still trudging through WCW Spring Stamped 1998, and I swear it’s better than most of the WWE offerings today.

Up front, my favorite highlight was Randy Orton’s RKO from out of nowhere. “I’ll calm down when he’s dead” was a great line, and the RKO reminded me of how grand DDP was/is. The RKO looked great, and Triple H looked seriously mad. Speaking of which, Stephanie McMahon is one hot Milf, yeah I said it. Good for you Triple H.

Goldust and Stardust defeated Mark Henry and Big Show

BORING! I telegraphed that turn for Henry, and no one wants to see them feud. I don’t, you don’t, I’m sick of it. The match was ok at best, but it was obviously something bad.

Aj Lee defeated Alicia Fox

This wasn’t part of the HULU showcase, so I don’t know what happened in the match itself. It sounds boring.

John Cena rejecting to be part of the Triple H crew was a nice touch. However, look for a HEEL turn finally at Survivor Series. I wouldn’t be surprised if we finally get that turn we’ve all been pining for from Cena. I hope and pray that it happens at Survivor Series.

The Usos defeated The Miz and Damien Mizdow

This didn’t air on Hulu, but I am going to say that it sucked anyways.

Ryback defeated Bo Dallas

I still BOLIEVE!

Dean Ambrose vs. Cesaro (No Contest)

This was ok I guess. Ambrose beat up Cesaro with a microphone, and that was that.

Naomi defeated Nikki Bella

This wasn’t terrible, but I was having an issue with Paypal so I was on the phone at the same time.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Kane

This match started because Ziggler may be one of the members of Team Cena at Survivor Series, which may be nice, but we’ll see what happens. This match was ok at best, Kane is looking tired and old. I’ve never liked him, so that doesn’t help. Ziggler is solid as ever, give the guy the title already.

John Cena defeated Seth Rollins

This match was solid, and really well placed. Seth Rollins is gold out there, and Cena definitely works well with just about anyone. The match was broken up at the end, when Kane interfered and it just foiled a really good match. Overall, I don’t hate the idea of Cena turning or winning later on, but Rollins is definitely going to go far if he keeps it up, and that’s what matters here.

Raw on HULU was good, I have no complaints other than perhaps there was too much talking and not enough wrestling, but that’s expected from the WWE these days. That’s my reviews for now, and of course I’ll do more if I watch more, but as it stands, Raw and the PPV get enough gusto for the site. I may see Smackdown too, but we’ll see what happens. If you’re still out there, drop me a line tell me your thoughts, and please, help support the site by using the amazon links wherever you see them.
