WWE NXT May 2, 2018 Results and Review The Better WWE Show

I tuned into NXT because I though there was going to be a huge main event, and while it was ok, it wasn’t what I thought, but that’s ok. This was actually a fun show, and it ended with a great moment, and I’ll talk about that in a moment.

WWE NXT May 2, 2018 Results and Review

Kairi Sane defeated Shazza McKenzie

This wasn’t a bad match, and Kairi Sane was able to get the big win. She has one of the best elbows in all of wrestling folks, you have to see her do it, it’s impressive beyond belief. She’s not the next Asuka, she’s a wrestler all her own, with a mariner gimmick that I enjoy overall.

TM61 defeated Street Profits

This was an odd pairing, and the Street Profits would get the win here, even though it seemed like TM61 was going to break up, I think. I heard there was an injury too.

Kona Reeves defeated Patrick Scott

Kona Reeves reminds me of a larger Prince Iukea. This was an ok match, but we need to see a lot more Kona Reeves before I get too carried away with whether or not he’s any good.

Bianca Belair defeated Candice LaRae

Bianca Belair is amazing. You have to see her in action. She’s charismatic, strong, and has long hair, and just owns in the ring. She deadlifted LaRae at one point and did the torture rack, and she won me over completely, I love her. She wins this great, short match.

Pete Dunne defeated Roderick Strong via DQ

This was a match that began as an all out war. The two were throwing everything they could at each other, and it was fun to see, including Strong trying to get the upper hand on the Bruiserweight. Dunne would get the last laugh, and looked to be getting the win until Strong’s friends came in and beat up Dunne. Out came Orney Lorcan and some other dude, I forget his name, and they beat up the Undisputed Era. Then out of the blue Dunne threw a shoe! Yes a shoe! I loved it.

Overall, this hour of wrestling was great, and way better than anything else that the WWE threw at us this week, that’s for sure.

This past week there was a ton of wrestling to watch if you’re a fan of the WWE. I was unable to write reviews for everything due to work, school, and other commitments, but don’t you worry FAM, I’ve got you here to talk about the incredible and not so incredible happenings in professional wrestling, well, at least for WWE that is.

WWE NXT Takeover: Philadelphia 2017 Results and Review

Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly defeated The Authors of Pain

The opening match was for the NXT tag team championships, and it wasn’t half bad. The smaller guys here, you can guess who they are, focused on the limbs of the Authors of Pain. They fought a good fight, but not without having to get a huge beat down within the 15 minutes of action. Eventually, the smaller guys outsmarted the bigger guys and got a nice roll up victory, and the crowd went insane. I like the new guys here, they are small, but they are focused on the type of technical wrestling that you’d expect from Bret Hart and the likes.

The Velveteen Dream defeated Kassius Ohno

Another great match occurred here, this time with Kassius Ohno and Dream exchanging some hard hits. Dream said that he would knock out Kassius in 30 seconds, and it seemed to have gone down that way at first, and the crowd was incredibly behind Dream. Ohno recovered and the two went back and forth with some amazing moves, and athleticism that you’d not expect from these big guys. Dream would hit his finishing elbow half way across the ring, and I’m sure Macho Man was very proud.

Ember Moon defeated Shayna Baszler

This was an incredible women’s match, and it was for the NXT women’s title. Shayna Baszler is a machine, and she had this thing won, working over Moon’s shoulder and arm for the entirety of the match. She would’ve won if Moon didn’t roll her up and Baszler would’ve let go of the armbar that she had on her. This was the smartest finish for a women’s match I’ve seen in a long time, and Baszler showed off an incredible skill set, while Moon defended her title like a real champion. I loved it. Go back and watch this one, and be impressed by how far women’s wrestling has come in the United States in a long time.

Aleister Black defeated Adam Cole in an Extreme Rules Match

In 22 minutes, the WWE received one hell of a match of extreme proportions. Black wasn’t just dominant here, as Cole was able to throw down a lot of offense and even take some of the most brutal shots. Black was taken to the limit here, and Cole didn’t let up, BAYBAY, eventually he’d get the Black Mass and lose. But this was an all out war, and one of the best Extreme Rules matches I’ve ever seen. This is second only to the Submission Match between Bret Hart and Stone Cold Steve Austin, it was that good.

Andrade Cien Almas defeated Johnny Gargano

The Tuna Meltzer gave this match a 5 star review, and if you saw it, then you agreed. Gargano put on a show here and Almas was just as good. I was surprised by the chemistry that the two had, and the reversals, offense, and intricate technical styles that the two blended together to make this happen. Even Bret Hart would’ve been impressed with just how good this match was. I was completely blown away by how the two were able to work through a 32 minute bout and make you believe that it was a title change about to occur. Gargano would eventually lose, but not without giving Almas the fight of his life.

After the matches, out came Tomaso Ciampa and he knocked out Gargano with a crutch, and the crowd went insane. I loved it.

NXT Takeover Philadelphia showcased an incredible amount of good wrestling, and didn’t take 3 hours to do it. My favorite match was the extreme rules match, but the whole card was great. I wish I could’ve gone to see it in person, that’s how good this was, and am kicking myself that I didn’t get on a plane.

Aleister Black Wins Again - SRC WWE dot com 

If you like pure wrestling, kind of like WCW Saturday Night, then you’ll like this night of NXT. I loved the showcase, but there were some sour points too. Let’s discuss it.

WWE NXT December 13, 2017 Results and Review

Andrade Cien Almas defeated Fabian Aichner

Aichner took to the skies and surprised Almas, which was interesting. Even though the champ was shocked, he was able to get back into form and won the match with his finisher. Not a bad match, mind you, but it was quick and lacked psychology. AIchner has a long way to go, but here he wasn’t half bad.

Ember Moon defeated Peyton Royce

This wasn’t that great. It was ok. Ember Moon needs better competition than Royce, which is still looking a bit too “diva” like if you ask me. Another quality match, but it wasn’t great because it was so short.

The Authors of Pain defeated Oney Lorcan and Danny Burch

This was a fast paced match with The Authors of Pain turning things around after an initial beat down from the foreign team. They would eventually throw down the gauntlet and put in their finisher before getting the pinfall victory.

Aleister Black defeated Adam Cole

Adam Cole BABY! That’s what Adam kept pushing what his name was, and it wasn’t half bad. I liked it, I popped for it, and well Black wasn’t having it. Black is incredibly skilled at Martial Arts, and can throw it into the match very well. Cole uniquely avoided a few things, but eventually succumb to Black throwing in some great kicks and counters. This eventually ended with Black hitting his big kick and boom, Cole goes down and that’s the end of the match.

NXT may only have been 45 minutes, but it seemed so much fun, and a lot better than 205 Live. I liked this night, but mainly the main event. I can’t wait to see Black as champion.

WWE NXT Takeover War Games 2017 Results and Review

Last night the WWE NXT brand put on one hell of a show. They threw down the gauntlet, and put together a showcase of the immortals that will no doubt live on in a lot of people’s minds. This is an event that is no doubt going to give you a lot of joy to watch, as it didn’t disappoint if you ask me. Let’s talk about this one, before Survivors Series goes on the air.

Lars Sullivan defeated Kassius Ohno

Well, Sullivan looks like a MUSCLE figure from your youth. He’s good, really good, and he put the boots to Ohno. He reminds me of Rusev, when he first came out, but better. Ohno did well here, but he was no match for Sullivan’s hard style, and incredible power moves. He’s crisp, and I hope they don’t ruin him if he goes to the main roster. Ohno loses again, and well that’s the end of that.

Aleister Black defeated Velveteen Dream

Holy crap was this a good match. If you haven’t seen these two perform, wow, you don’t even know. Dream is one hell of a wrestler, and his timing and athleticism is unmatched. He carries his weight like Rick Rude, and his tights had Black’s face on them! He pulled out a lot of Rick Rude era moves, and was amazing in ring. This is a guy that can go far, as he has a lot of elements that made the Ravishing One so good. Black, athletic as ever, matched Dream’s offense at times, and flew through a lot of hard hitting elements before hitting Black Mass and pinning dream. This was a stellar, near perfect match in my book. I was heavily impressed by these two.

Ember Moon won a Fatal 4-Way Match for the NXT Women’s Championship

This was a hard hitting affair, and way better than anything I’ve seen on the main roster. It was simply one of the best matches of the night, with Ember Moon getting the big win with her finisher from the top rope. Every person in this match was fun to watch, but it was Ember Moon’s night. At the end of the match, Asuka came in and handed her the title, which was surreal. This was a hell of a match, with Moon going through the ropes, off the top rope, and flying throughout the match. Kairi Sane was also great, and so were the rest of the women. This was a fine showing, no doubt.

Andrade Cien Almas defeated Drew McIntyre for the NXT Championship

Cien Almas put on a show for this one, and Drew was right there with him. Drew was putting the boots to Cien at every turn, and the two were great together. There was a lot of counters, and no matter what Almas did, Drew seemed to counter, and Almas would eventually get frustrated. Drew also threw down some great back and forth, only to end up with what looked like a bicep tear, but Almas would get the win with a sick looking DDT combination. He is the new champion, and McIntyre may be injured for a while.

Undisputed Era defeated Sanity, and The Authors of Pain with Roderick Strong

This was one hell of a War Games Match. It wasn’t the same as it was in WCW, but it had a lot of fight. When the Sanity guys came into the match, they brought in tables, trash cans, kendo sticks, chairs, and more. They would use them to their advantage, but one of them would catch a table breaking across the back of the head, causing a lot of blood to pour out. Other than that, the guys were throwing everything at each other, including dives from the top of the cage, triple move sets, and so much more. The match was violent, chaotic, and fun to watch. Eventually Undisputed won with some incredible tag team moves, and that was the end. This was a fun match, but alas, it wasn’t as good as the 1992 War Games match from WCW. A good try though, and a nice way to cap the night of NXT professional wrestling.

NXT Takeover Brooklyn III Results and Review The GOAT of WWE Shows Up

The WWE is a massive company, and their mainstream offerings on a weekly basis are not exactly always good. I don’t keep up with NXT nearly as much as I will be doing in the future, but I did manage to take a break from my writing to see this show this morning, and well, I’m blown away by a lot of things. The WWE got something right, and it’s interesting to see it, but there are some imperfections here and there.

Andrade “CIen” Almas defeated Johnny Gargano

Did someone tell Almas that his job was on the line? He not only seemed a bit more fit, he was taking on Gargano in a serious fashion. The back and forth between the two was accelerating, and quite fascinating to see. However, the quick “no selling” by both men kind of took me for a loop. Some call it “indie”, I call it poor selling. I’m sure that it is warranted now and then, but even Ric Flair’s flurries would end with him falling on his face in fatigue after attacking his opponents sometimes. Almas here got the better of Gargano, but not without cheating, and that is perhaps telling. Gargano gets a DIY shirt thrown at him, and boom, Almas capitalizes. Almas is a great wrestler, if the WWE would let him just explode like he did in Mexico. This was as close as you’re going to see to his original charismatic self, but it took Gargano putting on a clinic for him to reveal it.

Sanity defeated The Authors of Pain for the Tag Team Championships

I love Nikki Cross. She is one hell of a performer, and a beautiful lady if you ask me. But this is about the match, and the Authors of Pain putting on a show with Sanity. Sanity brought out all of their tools, and the two brawled until we started to see the wheels come off. Sanity played the numbers game, and Nikki Cross with Dame’s interference was amazing. The logic of this match was great with that finish. Cross jumps off the top rope on the outside and gets caught by one of the Authors of Pain, then Dame runs straight for them both, tackling them into a table! That leaves one guy open against 2, and that ended the match, before the “indie” darlings showed up. I’m not impressed by those guys yet, but it should be interesting to see what goes down moving forward. Great match, with some solid concepts, and a great finish, and again I love Nikki Cross.

Aleister Black defeated Hideo Itami

Black and Itami put on a strong style showcase and I enjoyed it greatly. Black was not backing down and Itami wasn’t either, breaking Black’s nose at one point. Jim Ross doing commentary was great, but the match itself was hard hitting, and showed the future of WWE in some sense. The counters the two put on, quick thinking, and smart psychology ruled in this match. There was even spots that didn’t take away from one wrestler’s fatigue, but was desperation, like Bret Hart’s reversals sometimes. I loved the way they blended together, and how Itami mocked Black at one point. I don’t like Black’s finisher, but hey, it is what it is. This match was hard hitting, but not with a lot of slow down, though it did appear. Black is great here, but WWE will surely screw him up like they did with Corbin.

Asuka defeated Ember Moon

Ember Moon put on a major show against Asuka. While I did not like this match as much as the Nikki Cross vs Asuka Last Woman Standing match, I did appreciate this for what it was. Moon not being able to put away Asuka. However, the natural conclusion of this match should have been when Moon hit her finisher, dead center of the ring. I don’t know where you go from there. Asuka won after trying to cheat, and eventually made Moon tapped out. I would’ve like Asuka to win by cheating, and develop that side of her character, leading to a match where she couldn’t cheat, but nope. Moon loses, and Asuka’s title reign continues.

Drew McIntyre defeated Bobby Roode for the NXT Championship

This match was hard hitting, and perhaps one of the best I’ve seen from Roode. Roode took on McIntyre’s best here. The bagpipe players from the NYPD were amazing for Drew, and he looked poised to get the big win here. He did it, but not without taking on Roode at every possible configuration of moves. That included the outside, off the top rope, and several DDTs. While there were moments of slow down, it wasn’t so bad that I wanted to stop watching. The two really did well together, and Roode may be poised for other things. Roode seemed to have suffered a nice big bruise on his quad, which looked nasty.

Post-match Adam Cole, Fish, and O’Reilly came out to beat up McIntyre. They are indie darlings from what I hear, and well, I didn’t care, I had already seen 6 or so hours of Summerslam and didn’t want to watch any more.

NXT Takeover Brooklyin III was certainly a great show. After seeing Summerslam, I can say that this was a better showcase of the WWE talent roster. I did not like Summerslam nearly as much. While the lack of fireworks was lame, the live performances were great, and the future looks bright for WWE, assuming they don’t homogenize these guys on the main roster like they have with Corbin, and Nakamura.

NXT is supposed to be a developmental arena, and it is, but some of these shows are so much better than Smackdown and Raw. With that in mind, here is what went down on this week’s NXT showcase.

WWE NXT April 26, 2017 Review

The show opened up with Nikki Cross and Ruby Riot fighting, and then getting separated. Then we went into some interesting matches.

Drew McIntyre defeated Andrade “Cien” Almas

Andrade “Cien” Almas was buried in this match. Drew beat him in a fast paced, hard hitting match that was just unfortunate for Almas. But then again, after the match, he got into a limo full of women, and they probably had a porno style romp. Man, I wish I was good looking.

Aleister Black defeated Kona Reeves

Kona Reeves put in some good offense against Black, and after Black got mad, he knocked his opponent out. And that was that.

Nikki Cross vs. Ruby Riot

This turned into a brawl, and should lead to a street fight or something. This is a great showcase for both, with is great. The two brawled around the arena.
Tyler Bate defeated Jack Gallagher

Strong style was on display here. A little slow to start, but Bate would eventually win big. Gallagher put on a good fight, and he definitely stretched Bate. I was absolutely stunned by how it turned out. Bate got worked in this one, but it was his overall strong style that would get the better of Gallagher. Gallagher is on a serious downward spiral of losses.

WWE NXT taped from Full Sail Studios in Orlando, Florida, and I for one wish the school was around when I was younger. I would have gone to that school instead of the Art Institute. Don’t get me wrong, the Art Institute was good, but it didn’t really give me a fighting chance for the real world. Whatever the case may be, NXT was live, and it packed a lot of wrestling into a small package.

WWE NXT April 19, 2017 Review

The show started well enough, with Bobby Roode cutting a Triple H like promo. He was talking about a new era, and out came Hideo Itami. I for one, am not impressed by Itami at all. I don’t see the big deal. He showed up to the ring and immediately hit the GTS on Roode, and that was that. I guess he’s a star? I don’t know.

Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Danny Burch

Danny Burch is a UK star, and he was easily taken care of by Almas. Almas is cool as a bad boy here, but something tells me that he’s not happy. Perhaps it was Alberto Del Rio. Look for Drew McIntyre to bury him next week.

Aliyah and Liv Morgan defeated Peyton Royce and Billie Kay

Royce and Kay are Laycool 2.0. This was a workable match, nothing too great, not a long one, just average. The finale led to Royce and Kay throwing a fit in ring, and that was that.

Tye Dillinger defeated Eric Young in a steel cage

Kevin Castle’s Neighbor, Eric Young put the boots to Tye Dillinger in this back and forth match. Sanity tried to interfere, but they were thwarted, and Dillinger was able to escape this match with the win, and close the door on his Sanity feud. I feel that blood would have helped here, but that’s just my opinion. A good overall match, and a workable finish to a lackluster show.

That’s it for this week’s NXT, it wasn’t bad, it wasn’t great. The main event was worth checking out, but other than that, it wasn’t too much to write home about.

WWE NXT had a formatting reset, with a lot of attention given to new stars, new song, and new showcase of talent. This night was packed with a lot in 45 minutes, and that doesn’t mean great wrestling, or does it?

Aleister Black defeated Corey Hollis

Black did one kick and won. Corey Hollis, thanks for coming by.

DIY defeated Dylan Miley and Michael Blais

DIY was getting a beat down by Miley, who is a juggernaut. Michael Blais, or Michael Hayes as someone said on commentary, got beat down. He’s broken, and was broken.

Ruby Riot defeated Kimberly Frankele

A fast match with not much to write about, Riot wins, despite distraction from Sanity.

Drew McIntyre defeated Oney Lorcan

Holy crap. McIntyre and Lorcan went strong style, and Lorcan legit got busted open. I was impressed with both of these guys, as they really put on a show with hard hitting punches and kicks. Lorcan at one point was hitting Drew as hard as he could in the neck, making it severely read. At another point Drew busted Lorcan open hard style, and eventually got the win. The cameras would not show Lorcan getting stitched up in ring, and that was funny. McIntyre is awesome now, I can’t wait to see what he can do against the rest of the NXT guys.

Shinsuke Nakamura cannot speak English

Shinsuke said goodbye, and he could barely go through a promo. He needs ESL help. I will volunteer to help him, so WWE, holla at your body.

WWE NXT April 6, 2017 Results and Review Smartest Main Event Ever

NXT was recorded at the Amway center and the crowd was huge, but there were only 3 matches this time around. I don’t know if this was recorded before or after Takeover, but it was interesting none the less.

WWE NXT April 6, 2017 Review

Peyton Royce defeated Aliyah

The NXT women’s division needs a lot more women. These ladies are ok, but they looked as though they were working in slow motion at times. Not as good as the title picture, I’ll tell you that much. Asuka needs better competition, or to move to the main roster, these women aren’t ready.

Heavy Machinery defeated The Bollywood Boyz

I love the Bollywood Boyz, but in this match, they lost big by the fat guys. I mean, the big guys. They are a fun team, but the Boyz should get more shots at the main roster, I like their gimmick and their style. Great wrestlers, lost against the big guys.

Oney Lorcan defeated El Vagabundo

This wasn’t half bad. El Vagabundo was fascinating to me, then it was obvious that it was the Drifter! I marked out, and the crowd marked out huge. He would lose this match and get escorted out, only after his mask was pulled off. Lorcan is now on 205 Live, I guess? Vagabundo should be going to the main roster now? I don’t know.

At the end of the day, NXT was ok, only saved by the end of the show.

WWE NXT March 30, 2017 Results and Review Phoning In The Show

WWE NXT is really hit or miss, and this week, it had everything shoved into a short span of time. It didn’t feel special at all, and you know what, maybe the whole show was phoned in. Let’s consider this show and then I’ll put up a review of the first ever WCW Nitro, then will be posting my predictions for Wrestlemania.

WWE NXT March 30, 2017 Review

Dash Wilder defeated Johnny Gargano and Akam in a Triple Threat Match

The smartest play I’ve seen in wrestling in a long time. Dash Wilder ran to the ring after Akam and Gargano fought each other. The two battled each other, and eventually Wilder ran in and picked up the quick win. Wilder and his partner didn’t stay for the match, but only ran in at the end, smart move.

Heavy Machinery defeated Jonathan Ortagun and Mike Marshall

Looks like Disorderly Conduct from WCW is back. This was a jobber match.

Asuka and Ember Moon signed a contract for Saturday’s Big Show

Asuka’s English is horrible. I can’t wait to see her get booed out of the building or get the “WHAT” chants on the main roster.

Kassius Ohno defeated Elias “The Drifter” Samson in a Loser Leaves NXT Match

This was not a great match. Samson threw up a few good shots, but it was all Ohno here. Ohno’s outfit is not flattering, but the dude can go so well, that you ignore it. Samson wasn’t that great, but it looks like he’s going up to the main roster. I think he has an upside, he was able to go through some great offense, and get the crowd to hate him. Good stuff.

At the end of the day, this was a phoned in show. Kassius Ohno is fun to watch, and he did put on a good show with The Drifter. He also smashed a guitar at the end of the day. Great stuff there, but at the end of the day, it felt like it was phoned in to me.

WWE NXT is a hit or miss show, that’s about it. No matter what you think about WWE’s product, this definitely is worth your time. It’s like Smackdown LITE in a way. It’s something that you don’t want to miss, but at times, you don’t really want to pay attention to at all. This is how this week’s show went down.

WWE NXT March 22, 2017 Review

Well, this show opened up with an interesting match, but for all the wrong reasons.

Andrade “Cien” Almas defeated Oney Lorcan

Oney Lorcan, the worst name in WWE’s developmental system fought off Andraded “Cien” Almas. When Almas first showed up in the WWE, he was a good guy, now he’s a bad guy, and while has a lot of upside, this match didn’t do him any favors. Oney Lorcan fought him off at every turn, with some hard style work, but it was Almas that would get the win with the double knees, which is definitely grand.

Asuka defeated Priscilla Zuniga

Asuka beat down Priscilla Zuniga. Asuka’s English is absolutely horrendous here. If she makes it to the main roster, she needs a mouth piece, or else she’ll get buried by the likes of Charlotte. But then again, she may be able to make moves on Smackdown, since I can’t understand half of what Becky Lynch is saying.

Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, and No Way Jose vs. Sanity ended in a No Contest

This match didn’t get too far before it got broken up. Tye Dillinger, Roderick Strong, and No Way Jose were all business here, nothing fancy. It was ok, for a brawl. A mystery woman showed up, and I don’t know who she is.

At the end of the day, this was an OK show. The end showed Ohno issuing a challenge to The Drifter, loser leaves NXT.

The Authors of Pain defeated The Ealy Brothers

This night opened up with a challenge, and that challenge was answered. I didn’t think the Ealy Brothers could win and well…they didn’t.

Nikki Cross defeated Macey Estrella

Nikki Cross is a hot commodity. She’s also very cute, and well, crazy. She beat the snot out of Macey Estrella, and I thought she was going to get disqualified after hitting her finisher more than 4 times in a row. She got the pinfall, and that was that.

Post match, No Way Jose and Tye Dillinger came out to try and beat up Sanity, but that was thwarted and they beat everyone down. I guess this will set up a match for NXT Takeover Orlando.

Asuka Promo

They ran an Asuka promo which was really cool. However, she can’t speak English. She can’t go very far in the United States without that element. I hope she’s working on her ESL because if she gets called up, she will get eaten alive by the talkers on the main stage, I’m sorry.

Bobby Roode defeated Kassius Ohno (NXT Championship Match)

The main event featured Kassius Ohno’s title shot for the NXT Championship. This is how you book a main event title match. Roode was baffled by Ohno’s offense. He was hitting on all cylinders, and while Roode had a few shots, Ohno was getting over huge here. Everything he threw at Roode was a haymaker, including the finale, but alas, one slip up and Roode hit the incredible DDT and that was that. Ohno loses, but with a valiant effort and a stellar match for the title.

Overall, NXT is a no nonsense wrestling program that you should check out. I loved it. You will love it, most likely. The title match alone is worth checking out this week.

Well, here is another review. I’m watching more wrestling now than at any other time in my life. I may not be writing columns, but I sure as hell watching and reviewing all of the WWE product that is getting pushed on me. I am missing Main Event, but that’s only because I am already reviewing 4 weekly shows, and the last time I reviewed that show, it was mainly a recap show. So here we go, NXT and then possibly a review of a WCW event for the weekend, and back to the grind, right?

WWE NXT March 8, 2017 Review

This nigiht on NXT, there were only 3 matches, but there was plenty of build up for more elements. This is like Smackdown LITE if you ask me. The opening had Sanity beating up Roderick Strong, and then No Way Jose battling them with Tye Dillinger. Later the Authors of Pain beat up The Revival before a match started. Other than that, there were only 3 matches, which were hit and miss.

Andrade Cien Almas defeated HoHo Lun

HoHo Lun was a stand out for me during the CWC, and I’m glad he got a shot to be in NXT. Almas is ok, I liked when he first came out, but I can’t help but remember that Alberto Del Rio said that he’s miserable. It shows. This was a one sided affair, with Lun just getting beaten up a lot. Almas is not as good as people are saying, and he’s not as good as his debut was for me.

Ember Moon defeated Billie Kay

I finally sat down to see Ember Moon, and I can say that she has a lot of talent. She reminds me of Jackie, but at the same time, she has some timing issues. Billie Kay too, and after taking a stiff top rope rolling stunner, Kay seemed legitimately injured. This was a break neck (no pun intended) match, that resembled a car crash. For all the crap I give Asuka, these women aren’t as good. I can’t see Asuka moving to the main roster and leaving behind such terrible performers. Maybe if they tighten things up? I don’t know.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated TJ Perkins

I was kind of looking forward to watching this match. I have faith in TJ Perkins, if given the right opponent. This match had a few slow spots, and I swear Nakamura isn’t doing well with learning English, as it could be seen in this match. It was easier to pick up on when he faced Roode, but Perkins seemed to allow things to progress with ease, and Nakamura put on his standard match. There were some great timed spots, and some nice back and forth, but overall, Nakamura is just doing his same old match, evidenced by how dead the crowd was for most of it. Perkins has some upside, but not sure if being buried in NXT is going to be a good thing. This wasn’t a burial, don’t get me wrong, the match was fine, with hard kicks, great reversals, power moves, and top rope action, but a far cry from the best of either guys.

NXT is like Smackdown LITE at this point. This was a show that truly evidenced that. Next week Ohno will fight Roode for the title, and the winner will get Nakamura at Mania weekend. We’ll see how that goes. This was a fast moving show, and only 3 matches, none of which were THAT long, mind you.

WWE NXT was live in Toronto, and I didn’t see it live. I saw 2 hours worth of the show before the WWE Network cut off the final. I had to hunt that out myself. I’m not a big NXT follower, so I can’t comment on the bigger stories that are going on. However, I have been critical of Nakamura’s lack of English and so with Asuka, so there’s that. Anyways, here we go, my thoughts on the NXT showcase from Toronto. I wanted to be there so I could’ve met Lacey Jade, but nope, I was stuck in the states.

WWE NXT Takeover Toronto Review

Bobby Roode def. Tye Dillinger

Good action in this one, with a hot crowd that was great. Roode is a great heel, and Dillinger has some amazing timing. The match was hard hitting, fast moving, and a good overall pro wrestling match with lots of nice spots, including an incredible superplex, or should I say glorious! Roode wins with a great DDT and Dillinger has to rethink if he’s really a perfect 10.

The Authors of Pain def. TM61 to win the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic with Paul Ellering suspended above the ring in the Crash Cage

Great hard hitting match, with The Authors of Pain throwing down everything but the kitchen skin to win. I loved the Crash Cage above the ring, I loved the hard hitting action juxtaposed with TM61 putting on a great showcase of aerial maneuvers. Great stuff. I loved it.

#DIY def. The Revival in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match to win the NXT Tag Team Championship

I fell asleep during the second fall, but loved how DIY was able to sneak out a win against The Revival. Great movement, nice spots, great options, and eventually a final fall and a big win for the story.

NXT Women’s Champion Asuka def. Mickie James

I’m in love with Mickie James. Wow. She comes back and puts Asuka through the ringer, only to finally tap out at the end. James was absolutely wonderful, and amazing in this match. Holy crap, I loved everything. She was in shape, put on a show, and thought she should’ve won. Oh well.

Samoa Joe def. Shinsuke Nakamura to win the NXT Championship

Meh. I’m not a fan of Nakamura, and Joe was great 10 years ago. This was an ok match, but not as good as some of the other main events that the NXT brand has put on in the past. Oh well. That’s my 2 cents.

Overall, NXT is not that great. This was fun at first, but it got boring fast. I’m sorry, but the star power here is missing, especially after getting raided earlier this year. Oh well. The women’s match though, great stuff, the opener was good too, and the tag matches were definitely great too.

My apologies for not posting sooner, I have been working on other things, it happens.

Here is my break down of this special event from a Wednesday night.

Andrade "Cien" Almas def. Tye Dillinger

Andrade definitely put on a showcase of wrestling, and Dillinger worked well with him. There were some nice spots here, and a back and forth match had the crowd fully engulfed. Cien’s finish, wow, double knees, geez. It looks amazing, and done right, it can be a safe finisher for sure. Good opener.

The Revival def. NXT Tag Team Champions American Alpha

A well executed tag team match. It was quite possibly the best match I’ve seen in the tag division on any program put out by any wrestling promotion, ever. Ok, that’s a bit much. But it was definitely good. The Revival wrestled a great match and won big over American Alpha. I really wish WWE would hire Kurt Angle to be the leader of American Alpha, like he did with Team Angle.

Post match, NXT chanting “who are you”, really bugged me. The random beat down by some random idiots was stupid to me, but whatever.

Shinsuke Nakamura def. Austin Aries

Nakamura needs to really work on his English. This is not to say anything racist, but it’s true. His accent needs work and he needs to really master the language, or Vince will tie him with a bad gimmick in the main roster like he always seems to do. It’s not about promo-skills, it’s about communication, and that’s just my two cents. Overall, this match was a little more thought out than most of the Nakamura matches I’ve seen. This was ok overall, but was it great? Not really. There were a lot of slow points, which really caused me to yawn. The slow speeds aside, it was an adequate match with a lot to offer those that are watching NXT. It was fun to watch, but Nakamura walking out as though his knee wasn’t hurt was dumb. Oh well. Good, but not great.

NXT Women's Champion Asuka def. Nia Jax

Something always seems predictable about the women’s division in WWE. NXT is the same. I did not think that Nia Jax would win. She didn’t. The dichotomy of strength versus striking was fascinating at first glance, but overall it wasn’t that great of a showcase, in my view. It was adequate. Not bad, not great, like Sasha Banks versus Bayley, but still good overall.

NXT Champion Samoa Joe def. Finn Bálor (Steel Cage Match)

Not that grand here. It was completely predictable. Balor hit Joe with some stiff shots, including a full fledge kick to the face that would make Bret Hart cringe. Overall, the standard match, no blood, and something I didn’t care about really. Joe won with a second rope muscle buster, which was fun. Balor loses, he can go anywhere else, I don’t think he’s that great on the mic. So we’ll see if he gets a shot at the main roster.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 10

At the end of the day, this was a lot of spots, and finishes that didn’t really gel well with me. I think that the show is good, but it needs to have a larger venue to make it feel more special. This independent feel is good, but I’m not going to give it a huge rating, just didn’t like it THAT much.

WWE NXT 5/11/2016 Results and Review Alex Riley’s Last WWE Match

The show opened up with Finn Balor, and much to the dismay of all the dirt sheets, he is NOT part of The Club, and he is not going to the main roster just yet. So all of you sites out there, including Smart Wrestling Fan Podcast, can go to hell. I’m not a fan of Balor, and I don’t think he’s ready for the main roster. I am not entertained by him, yet. He’s had a few good matches, but I do not feel that he’s that great, yet. Then again, I haven’t seen quite as much of his work as some others, but that’s just me.

Finn Balor got interrupted by The Drifter, Elias Sampson. Now, Jason Solomon of Solomonster Sounds Off thinks he sucks, but you know what? He’s wrong. The Drifter works. The interruption with the guitar, and the slow walk down to Finn worked very well. I loved it. It reminded me of the 1980s television show of the same name. This could work, done right. He got into the ring and got beat up for his trouble, Balor getting the cheers.

American Alpha defeated Two Jobbers

Yeah, Skylar and Holace were the two opponents, but you knew from the star that this was all about American Alpha getting the big win. Simply put it’s a classic move to have their power teams win against jobbers. American Alpha needs Kurt Angle, simple as that.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Alex Riley

This was Alex Riley’s last match in NXT before Jason Solomon of Solomonster Sounds Off got him fired. (I Kid, but the two had some words on Twitter, mainly Riley) Riley got little offense in this one and Shinsuke got paid quite a bit for just a small amount of work. Entertaining as it was, this was no competition, it was just a burial. Alex Riley is going to be out, and well, goodbye. Should’ve stayed on commentary like Graves. Shinsuke is great to watch, but I don’t know how he will fit into the main showcase, but for what this is, it’s great, good overall wrestler, but it’s just a matter of time before Roman Reigns buries him.

Alexa Bliss defeated Rachel Ellering

Rachel Ellering is the daughter of Paul Ellering. She was ok in this match. This was forgettable.

Finn Balor defeated The Drifter Elias Sampson

Once again, not impressed by Balor here. It was an ok match, but overtly, just standard WWE moves. Suicide dives, running leg drops, and just no psychology here. It was an ok match. It wasn’t great. It was entertaining enough, but overall, I don’t think Balor’s ready for the main roster, at least not as he was on this show. On the mic, he wasn’t great, he needs help. The promo he cuts after this match just wasn’t up to par with what you’d expect for the main roster, which isn’t saying much I guess. Oh well. Balor is going to turn into the demon and will fight Joe. Joe came out, I stopped caring.

Overall, this episode of NXT was fine. I just am not that invested in these characters or the wrestling that is pandering to the smart crowd. We’ll see what happens.

I’m tired of suicide dives in WWE. Every wrestler seems to do them, and that makes the move boring. Finn Balor’s athletic, but diving over the top rope onto Joe is just dry toast. I don’t care. I’ve seen the same thing 100 million times before, done by better wrestlers in their youth. Oh well. Ok show nothing great, and that was that.

WWE NXT Takeover Dallas 4/1/2016 Results and Review

Here we go, WrestleMania weekend is here yet again and I’m back in action. First up I am going to talk about WWE NXT Takeover Dallas. I did not see this live, I had to watch it this morning before work. Last night I was doing anything else, since it was on a little too late for me on the East Coast. Now, in regards to this night of action, there’s a lot to say and some of it you may not like.

First and foremost, this was live from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center which holds some 10,000 some odd individuals. I wanted to go, but I decided against it since I have no friends to meet up with, and well, that’s just my damn luck, right?

American Alpha defeated The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championship

This was a good overall match. I kept thinking that Kurt Angle should’ve come out to make American Alpha the new Team Angle, but that obviously didn’t happen. The Revival should get a call up to the main roster, I hope. They are crisp, even though there was one botch. This match was an energetic match with a lot of good spots, great tags, and excellent wrestling.

Austin Aires defeated Baron Corbin

I never liked Austin Aires. I think he’s a poor man’s CM Punk, and it showed here. Corbin is bland. This match ended in a roll up, and I didn’t even have a buzz yet. Not a good match. I don’t care about Aires, his attire sucks, and he needs something more to establish him.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Sami Zayn

Nakamura is a huge star in Japan. I don’t get it. Sure, he has a few cool points, but I think that Shinsuke Nakamura is OVER RATED. That’s right, he’s overrated. I don’t see the big deal. He had some nice counters but overall Zayn and his match is over rated, even if it did go 20 minutes. It’s a solid match, no doubt, but is it deserving of so much praise I’m hearing? Nope.

Asuka defeated Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship

Asuka is really good, but this match seemed forced towards the end. Bayley passing out? Really? That’s it? This match was 15 minutes in length, and Asuka made Bayley fall asleep. This should set up a submission match for the title. I loved the dynamics in this match, but I don’t see these two women getting a shot at the main roster, as you may see that the main roster only books hotter women, just saying.

Finn Balor defeated Samoa Joe

The referees kept stopping the match for blood, that took away from the overall action. Samoa Joe is lean, and at his absolute best in NXT. He’s amazing now, compared to “fat” joe in TNA. This match was good, and Balor is a good overall wrestler, but his win shocked me. The match was good overall, and Joe really did a good job putting on the bad ass element. Overall, good match up, with some great spots.

Final Thoughts

Ok, Nakamura is still overrated. Sorry. I don’t see the appeal, especially since I’ve been watching wrestling since 1986 and have seen nearly every single Japanese wrestler come through WWF and WWE and even WCW and guess what? They don’t last. Maybe WWE will do well with him, but then again, remember Suzuki? There’s so many examples of misuse of Asian wrestlers, that I’m not sure WWE will make me care about Nakamura just yet. He’s ok, overrated at this point though.

The rest of the card was good. Good overall wrestling, and I didn’t care about story lines. If you’re a fan of pure wrestling, then of course this is a good show. Was it as stellar as Brooklyn? Maybe not. But it’s a good showing, and it really made me sad not to have friends and family that would go to WrestleMania. I feel even more alone in this world when I see 10,000 fans in a building, and yet I’m here in my living room alone and without friends. Sigh.

WWE NXT 12/2/2015 Review

The results are not in order of appearance, I took notes instead of writing my review and what not live. So here's my thoughts on the show.

Baron Corbin defeated Tye Dillinger

Corbin is a beast. I don't think he can do his finisher "The End of Days" on bigger guys, however. I do think that if he's booked against smaller guys, he can push through a great deal of the roster with some sick moments. This was a stiff match, even though Tye Dillinger got some offense in. Short, but overall a good showing for Corbin.

Nia Jax defeated Blue Pants

Nia Jax is a beast. I love it. Blue Pants is hot. I wish I could've met her when I was single, or even now. Call me, maybe? I kid. Nia Jax is great though, and that's the most memorable part of NXT for me.

Samoa Joe defeated Tomaso Ciampa

Samoa Joe and Tomaso worked stiff. Lots of slaps, lots of stiff elbows, and at one point I thought Ciampa was knocked out clean. Joe is great here, and he looks focused. I love how this match pushed through, with Joe winning after the Muscle Buster. A great story told, but not a 4 star classic either. I liked it though. Joe is doing well.

Jason Jordan and Justin Gable defeated The Vaude Villains

The Vaude Villains should be on the main roster and should be the tag champs. Their gimmick works very well, and it's amazing. This match was good. However, Jordan and Gable are playing up the whole "World's Greatest Tag Team" thing, as they are pure wrestlers. I liked that one of them had an IU hoodie, since I live in Indy, that's kind of a cool note. This match wasn't memorable, but it proves to be the start of the end of The Vaude Villains if you ask me. They should rise up to the main roster sooner than later.

James Storm defeated Adam Rose

James Storm is great here, against a boring Adam Rose. The match wasn't great, but Storm's work here is better than it was in TNA, by huge leaps. He looks like he's in his element here, and I liked the Cowboy thing. I just kept thinking, "Sorry about your damn luck", but that's just me. I don't know what they are doing with Adam Rose now, but he's a bit boring right now. Rose has some good moves, and reminds me of Johnny Swinger at times. Hopefully he gets back to Raw.

Emma defeated Liv Morgan

Emma took on Liv Morgan and dominated. A short match, with a very cool finish if you ask me. I loved the finish, with a nice bridge submission maneuver, and it looked like it legit hurt. Nice.

NXT impressed me. They shoved a lot of wrestling into a short show, and definitely better than Raw. I'll have a review of WWE Main Event sooner, than later.

WWE Superstars 12/3/10 Review

Another week of Thursday night wrestling, and I'm not as tired as I usually am. It's probably because I have no job, so I can sleep more often.

Here is how things went down, on the least watched wrestling show aside from Impact.

Tyler Reks defeated Trent Berretta

Tyler Reks and Trent Berretta really went out there and fought hard for this one, even if no one cared. I can't get behind either guy here. The match had a few moments that looked good, especially with the high flyer getting the best of the monster, but overall, the end wasn't that great with a torture rack into a slam of sorts. Tyler Reks eventually outlasted Trent and won.

The two have talent, but I don't care about either one's character, so eh...I didn't really care for the match, I guess.

NXT Season 3's winner was announced, and the winner of NXT is:

No one cared, especially me.

William Regal defeated Darren Young

Darren Young completely beat down Darren Young again. Young has been getting better each and every week, but wow, Regal really put him away. The Regal Stretch looked really good, and Young is on his way out, he's just on his way out.

CM Punk was on the mic with the new guy, and it was good overall. I liked it a lot, and hope Darren Young is the wild card in the Nexus angle in coming weeks.

Tyson Kidd defeated DH Smith

This match was given some time, but it wasn't all that great. I was actually bored a few times during this match, despite the two of them working well together. The match had a few high spots, but neither man has the charisma that their family has, so it's going to take some time to build on obvious in ring talent. The two are done, I guess...or rather, the tag team is done.

This was stupid. This was the worst bout of women's wrestling ever. There was an odd 3 count...and just didn't make sense....this match was terrible!

The women then competed in an obstacle course of sorts...whatever.

Primo and AJ won this match. The women are terrible...terrbile...ugh! Stupid crap, botches and bad bumps.

Vickie Guerrero and her new rookie made a fool of themselves...this was stupid.
