Expect One Last Ride For The WWE Title 

For only 1 hour and 21 minutes, this episode of Smackdown Live proves yet again why it is in fact the B-Show. It’s not an A show, but then again, Raw wasn’t exactly the most thrilling 2 plus hours either. Let’s just call this what it is, the equivalent of WCW Thunder! That’s right, I said it. Wreddit readers can go suck a lemon, idiots. Here are my thoughts on this show, since I sat through it and ate breakfast.

WWE Smackdown Live November 15, 2016 Review

The Miz def. Dolph Ziggler to win the Intercontinental Championship

This was an outstanding display of what a great opening match can be. I didn’t mind the logic gap at times, because the two were going as fast as they could from transitional elements to power moves. I liked it. It wasn’t a long match, but it sufficed to do exactly what I said would happen, give the heel champion a way into the ppv. Dolph Ziggler should go do anything else, if you ask me. The Miz getting the title is a nice nod, and if you ask me, will most likely lose it to Sami Zayn, who needs a title right now.

Kalisto def. Oney Lorcan

Two irrelevant wrestlers put on a fast match with nothing worth mentioning. Only Lorcan or is it Orney? I don’t know. The worst name that the WWE has come up with versus one of the worst promo guys in the industry. Not only that, Kalisto is from Chicago, not Mexico. This match sucked, simple as that.

Nikki Bella vs. Carmella ends in a No Contest

Not a bad match at all, but of course the Raw women showed up and caused problems. No, I take that back. Nikki beat up Charlotte without provocation, which prompted all the Raw girls to jump Nikki. Then for whatever reason, Carmella joined in to help Nikki! What the hell? Why? Why would Carmella, someone that hates Nikki stop a beat down? This made no sense. The cool spot, of course, was Nia Jax going through the barricade, which was rad, but other than that, this made no logical sense on either side of the coin.

American Alpha, The Hype Bros, The Usos & Breezango def. The Spirit Squad, The Vaudevillains, The Ascension & The Headbangers – 16-Man Tag Team Match

If you had to go to the bathroom, this was the one to go with. The crowd wanted Rhyno, but he wasn’t in the match. This was jobbers versus semi-jobbers, and it wasn’t that fun. I guess if you were there live and had a hot dog and beer, maybe it would’ve been more exciting.

Edge hosted “The Cutting Edge” with Team SmackDown LIVE

I was very surprised when the Cutting Edge show was the end of the show and that’s it. This was literally the end of Smackdown, and I was surprised to see such little amounts of wrestling on the show. I forgot what I was watching, because this sucked up a lot of the time. Edge hosted a lackluster show, and out came the Undertaker. Not a great ending.

Smackdown Live Final Thoughts

Smackdown was a horrible show, with 1 good match. The ending was interesting in that it sets up The Undertaker versus Aj Styles at the Royal Rumble, if you ask me. Of course, you didn’t ask me. I wouldn’t be surprised if Ambrose, Styles, and Undertaker put on a showcase leading to a Final 4 type match for Roadblock or Elimination Chamber.

If I’m going to fantasy book, let’s consider 1997 for a moment. I could see a final 4 in the Rumble being John Cena, Undertaker, Dean Ambrose, and Brock Lesnar. No clear winner found or something happens to be controversial, leading to a final four match in February and the ultimate winner being John Cena. The same thing that happened with the Final Four IYH ppv in which the results of the 1997 rumble led to a quality match to see who would face off in the main event at Wrestlemania 13.

Either way, Smackdown was awful, and that was that. Another week of wrestling done and done.

WWE Smackdown 12/3/2015 Review

There was a lot of talking up front. The whole show was set up with Roman Reigns talking and the League of Nations coming out and setting up matches. Roman Reigns would take on the League if the tag match with his friends against the New Day went well. Otherwise, it was going to be Reigns against the League solo. Guess what happened?

Tyler Breeze defeated Neville

Tyler Breeze took on Neville in this one. Neville delivered a good amount of offense in this match against Tyler Breeze. Breeze is improving, but the narcissus gimmick is a bit tired for me. On the merits of the match alone, I liked it. Neville is a great performer, and Breeze used Summer Rae to ensure he got a quick win and distraction.

Brie Bella defeated Becky Lynch via disqualification

Brie Mode was all in with this match up. Lynch had Charlotte outside rooting her on. Becky Lynch lost, but only after Brie hit Charlotte and Charlotte jumped into the match to fight her. Lynch and Charlotte have another wedge between them, and it continues to build.

New Day defeated Usos and Dean Ambrose

The New Day usually gets cheered right? Well, I couldn’t help but noticed that there was a lot of piped in booing, which was definitely odd to me. Oh well. New Day got the win here as the numbers game started to rise up. They targeted one of the Usos injury, and that was that. This would set up the main event handicap match. Overall, however, this was a fast paced, fun match with the New Day winning over the team of the Usos and Ambrose.

Bray Wyatt defeated Devon Dudley

Before this match, the lights went out. When the lights came back on it was R Truth waving hello at people. Then the lights went out again and out came the Wyatt family. Devon still has it, he was able to hold his own against Wyatt. Wyatt of course gets the win to make it seem like he’s strong. After the match up, things went south and the Dudleys got beat down with Tommy Dreamer going through a table. Sad.

Roman Reigns defeated The League of Nations via count out

Ok, here we go. The main event was great. I loved it. People online were complaining because they read the spoilers, and it was dumb. No, Roman didn’t go over clean. He outsmarted the League this time around, and didn’t go the Super Cena route.

King Barrett got himself disqualified so he had to leave the ring. Roman Reigns was able to mount some offense and things spilled out to the outside. Then the count started, and Roman was able to get inside the ring before the 10 count finished and won via count out. He didn’t pin anyone, the League didn’t go down weak, it was a technical win, and that’s it. Afterwards there was a brawl and the two factions fought and that’s it.

Overall, Smackdown was great for me. I liked the wrestling here. Dolph Ziggler on commentary was fun. Smackdown had some good wrestling, and Reigns definitely is doing better, even if he’s taking a beat down. If you’re not watching Smackdown, you’re missing out on some good wrestling. I liked it. I really did. I guess I’m weird.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 3/12/10 Review

Rey Mysterio came out with his family and Rey Mysterio was thanking the fans, only to have CM Punk appear on stage. Punk sang happy birthday to Mysterio’s daughter.

Punk taunted MYSTERIO on the mic and challenged him to a match, both at Wrestlemania and tonight. Punk kept egging on Rey in one of the most compelling moments in recent years. Punk is just getting more and more psychotic as time moves on.

The Miz came out and cut a promo, talking about how he can beat Truth etc etc…Daniel Bryan was at ringside.

R Truth defeated The Miz

Daniel Bryan cost the Miz this match up as The Miz was moving through a win with relative ease against Truth. Miz tried to cheat by putting his feet on the ropes, but Bryan pushed them off and Miz lost it. Truth hit the Lie Detector and got the three count. Truth is always fun to watch, Miz lost thanks to Bryan and Bryan is the one that is getting the rub off of his pro. I liked the way things turned out.

Drew McIntyre defeated Aaron Bolo

This was a squash match to get McIntyre into the Money in the Bank. It’s stupid to me since he already has the title.

Big Show defeated John Morrison

John Morrison put a valiant effort in this match up, but couldn’t over power the Big Show. Show got beat up for a few moments and eventually got the better of Morrison and pulled out a win.

Cryme Tyme vs The Hart Dynasty no contest

This was stupid. The match wasn’t much of a match at all, in fact it was terrible; the lights went out, Undertaker showed up and beat up everyone, for apparently no reason. I thought it was stupid, why even employ tag teams if you’re going to bury them like this? No pun intended.
Tiffany defeated Michelle McCool via dq

I guess the official decision was a disqualification? I don’t know. This match kind of sucked. Tiffany got beat up by McCool and her cronies.

Post match Beth Phoenix ran down and cleaned house, including hitting Vickie Guerrero.

Kane defeated Luke Gallows via dq

This match was a slow moving big man match and it looked like Kane could’ve won…but Punk interfered. Punk then buried KANE with ease with a nice GTS.

Post match Mysterio ran down and beat the crap out of Punk…I like the way they’re building this feud now.

The highlight reel was next and Jericho was upset at edge. Edge got punched in the face then beaten down by Jericho. Jericho laid out Edge with the world title and then mocked him.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 12/18/09 Review

Teddy Long opened up the show and out came Batista. Batista demanded a title shot, and Teddy Long looked legit scared. Rey Mysterio came out, and he demanded a rematch with Batista and the winner will win the #1 contender spot.

C.M. Punk, Luke Gallows, and Drew McIntyre defeated John Morrison, Matt Hardy & R Truth

I feel like every time I tune into wwe programming, it’s the same style matches, to the components and finishes. I feel like I’ve already seen this match, and it’s no wonder, these guys have all faced each other last week. But again, we have to see it again, and what are you going to do? There’s nothing else to watch, is there? Oh and this is a wwe blog afterall.

The Gospel of Luke, as Striker said, was a great play by play call. I thought that was classic. This match really gave John Morrison a hard time, he was trying to find his way back to tag in one of his partners, but it was Luke Gallows and Punk that softened him up, before tagging in Drew McIntyre to clean the bones of a obviously struggling John Morrison. Cm Punk did some good tandem moves with Gallows to really create a good overall middle point of this match. I for once, was actually impressed with CM Punk’s move set, as he doesn’t usually throw up a lot of greatness on television. It’s a good fit for Gallows, as the strong man and Punk as the high flyer, which is really just shades of the original Hart Foundation. Morrison finally got a tag in, and Hardy was in there going for broke on Punk with a sick set of combinations, straight to the nearfall. Gallows threw in the Slammy Award and Punk used it to get the fall, off of Hardy. Overall, this match started slow and really tested my patience, but it picked up in the middle, and then Punk made this thing a good match up, and I enjoyed it. Punk wins again.

Dx’s constant pandering for people to buy their crap is making nautious…I mean who begs for money by having people buy stuff from their…..uh…nevermind.

Escobar is a broke ass Razor Ramon, face it.

Kane defeated Escobar

Escobar got a little gift from Vickie Guerrero, it was a match with Kane. This match was fast, it was all Kane, as he beat up Escobar and then dropped him on his neck for a big choke slam. Escobar can’t possibly be WWE’s idea of bringing up new talent.

Now, I complained yesterday about how TNA had roughly no wrestling in an hour, well, for reference, the end of this match up came at around the 50 minute mark of Smackdown. So it’s not like WWE is doing THAT much more wrestling within an hour of their 2 hour show on Friday nights. What wrestling fans need is more wrestling and less talk. Even if some of the matches are squashes, we need that “kayfabe” ideology to come back.

Chris Jericho came out and cut the standard Jericho promo. His character is getting a little stale to me. I kind of miss that old Lionheart guy from ECW and WCW. Now he’s just running his mouth too much. I guess it works on some level.

Chris Jericho was not getting much offense in on the giant here in the early goings of this one. Khali towers over Jericho by a ton! Jericho’s moves were no match most of the time, even though Khali was a little slower than Jericho. Jericho decided to walk away after a while, since he couldn’t do anything to beat the giant.

The Hart Dynasty defeated Jimmy Wang Yang & Slam Master J

Jimmy Wang Yang is still employed? Slam Master J is still employed? What is going on?

The Hart Dynasty is one of the worst flops of WWE history. They shouldn’t even use the Hart name right now. Despite my dislike for the way the team’s been going, I did find this match somewhat entertaining. Slam Master J and Jimmy Wang Yang were proving to be a little more difficult than you’d think. DH Smith actually looked strong for once, and Natalya was finally doing a good job outside the ring. The Hart’s hit their finisher, and this thing was done. I didn’t hate this match, but it’s sad to see that there’s not more competition and teams in the WWE tag team division, if you can even call it that.

Beth Phoenix defeated Maria

Maria is simply outclassed by Beth Phoenix in regards to pro-wrestling. Phoenix was in control for the most part of this match and when she hit the Glam Slam this thing was done. Maria, for being diva of the year, really is terrible at wrestling. Phoenix has little to no competition in the women’s division of WWE, face it.

Rey Mysterio Jr. defeated Batista to become the #1 contender

Batista immediately caught Rey Mysterio with strength, catching Mysterio in mid air and throwing him emphatically into the turnbuckles, like a rag doll. This match was mostly Rey Mysterio, with no remorse or let down. Mysterio was getting pummeled in a crazy way. Mysterio did manage to come back, if only momentarily at times, with some quick reversals and counters. Mysterio had some very near falls after his ddt, and a top rope senton, causing Batista to run out of steam. Batista definitely was growing tired as the match went on, and it was obvious he couldn’t keep up with Rey Mysterio towards the end of the match up. After the 619, the mighty Batista seemed done, as he fell like a gain tree in the forest, but still managed to get the knees up to hit Mysterio as he fell from the top rope. Batista started to get frustrated near the end of the match, and right when I thought this was over, Batista was rolled up fast and got pinned!

In a shocker, Mysterio defeated Batista and now Rey Mysterio will face The Undertaker for the WORLD TITLE! On Christmas, it is MYSTERIO vs UNDERTAKER WORLD TITLE! I’m excited! But something tells me it’s not going to stay that way.

Smackdown had some good matches. I didn’t really care for the talking, or the backstage stupidity. But overall I didn’t have a hard time watching Smackdown, like I did watching Tna Impact this week.

Next week is Christmas. I will be reviewing Smackdown the day after Christmas, as I usually do on this blog. The reason why I don’t live blog the shows is because my wife works early mornings and I don’t try to stay up too late. Plus, since I have no job right now I just wait for the next day to enjoy wrestling. That’s right, I’m still broke and have no job. That’s also the reason why there’s little to no ppv reviews this second half of the year.

There will be no TNA next week, it’s being preempted, I think. I’m most likely NOT going to review the TNA year end “best of” show. But will be back for their January 4th show. I’ll be reviewing Tribute to the Troops tonight, and then be back for another edition of Monday Night Raw.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 11/21/09 Review

The show immediately opened up with the reason why I still watch wwe…wrestling.

Batista defeated Matt Hardy

This was a cool match, at least in the on set. Matt Hardy didn’t just roll over and let Batista beat him up, he put in some offense, and was working on staying in there as long as possible. Even while Batista was setting up Hardy in rest holds, Hardy managed to get offense in. This was a good thing, making Batista work for his win, and not just squashing Hardy as a jobber. Hardy even countered the Batista Bomb! This match, although shorter than usual, managed to be quite impressive. Hardy countered the spear too! This was not a squash job, which made me cheer for once. Batista ended up winning the match, but Hardy was there step by step fighting back.

Drew McIntyre defeated Finlay

Finlay came out and brawled with Drew. However, in a stupid turn of events Drew hit Finlay with an eye gauge his ddt finisher and won with ease. What the heck? Finlay gets one eye rake and it’s over? The same Finlay that fought in a junkyard with the rest of the hardcore title guys in WCW? WWE took a misstep in this match. It was like a reverse squash…if that exists.

CM Punk cut the longest promo I’ve seen in a long time. He cut a straightedge promo with three major examples, visuals, trash cans, just boredom. Then R Truth came out to settle the mood, and finally change things up a little. In one of the best feud starters in a long time, R Truth knocked Punk nearly unconscious with a trash can full of cigarettes! Yep. That’s right, he beat the crap out of Punk then dumped a trashcan of cigarettes over him! There will be blood! Right?

John Morrison defeated Dolph Ziggler best two out of three falls for the intercontinental championship

This match started of fast, with good movement. Morrison even went for Starship Pain early, but was thwarted by Ziggler, who put a knee up. Morrison then quickly rolled up Ziggler for the first pinfall!

The second fall was a good overall match. Ziggler controlled most of this match up, and it looked like he could gain a foothold in this match. He was focusing on Morrison’s back and really putting a good amount of offense in. This was not a squash match by any stretch of the imagination. Ziggler got the pinfall, and it was 1 to 1.

The third fall was key, as it really showed that Ziggler is so close to getting a belt. However, Morrison just was one step ahead, and really is the future of the WWE if he continues to put on displays like he did in the third fall. Ziggler and Morrison put on a hefty match up and it showed. Morrison scored the third fall after hitting Starship Pain and man…he got an ovation.

Mickie James defeated Layla

Layla was fighting Mickie James, if you can call it fighting. Mickie James easily defated the Smackdown Diva, and it was not much of a challeng. I was a little bored. Mickie James needs more wrestling competition, simply put.

Post match, Mickie James got made fun of by Michelle McCool with a hilarious promo that was supposed to make fun of Mickie James, but instead just seemed so cheesy. I didn’t care for it, but it apparently made Mickie James cry. Whatever…she’s been getting fat lately.

Rey Mysterio vs Tyson Kidd (dq? No contest? I don’t know…Batista interfered)

Tyson Kidd looked like a man possessed out there. He was taking it to Rey in a way I haven’t seen Kidd wrestle. He was fighting fast, and had been one step ahead of Mysterio throughout the first part of this match. Kidd was definitely stepping up his game for this and was really showcasing that he’s quite good. Mysterio of course would make him pay for a subtle mistake, gaining an edge over Kidd with some high spots, including going to the top rope….but it was Batista that caused this match’s finale.

Batista interfered, pushed Kidd away and Mysterio pounced on Batista, humiliating him for the second straight week. It was fast, and it was rad. This was a good set up for their match, even if it did come at the price of Tyson Kidd’s stellar performance against Mysterio.

Kane & The Undertaker vs Chris Jericho & The Big Show (no contest?)

These guys make for quite the match up. The match started with Kane and Jericho getting into it, and it wasn’t half bad. Kane, for once, started looking like the Kane of old, methodical yet fast. Hitting Jericho with a slew of offense that we don’t get out of the Big Slow Machine anymore. The Undertaker got a tag and he too was working fast, and Jericho seemed outmatched by the big guys, until he tagged in The Big Show! The Brothers of Destruction were definitely in control of this match in the early goings, until the second commercial break.

Remember when The Brothers of Destruction took on DDP & Christian in a cage match? Remember DDP getting squashed for stalking “Sarah”? It was great, DDP never recovered from that angle….sad huh? Whatever…DDP vs Goldberg at Halloween Havoc 98 is all I need from DDP; that and when he wrestled Macho Man…twice.

Back to the match:

Undertaker went “old school” which is rad, because this time it wasn’t “vintage”. The big guys were in complete control of the tag champions. Jericho wasn’t getting much of a chance to shine, and Big Show was trying to get a few shots in, and while he was getting in there good, he wasn’t able to put away the big guys alone. Jericho eventually was able to get some offense on Kane, but only after Big Show softened him up a little. You might remember that Jericho fought Kane in a Last Man Standing match when Jericho was still Y2J, and Jericho fought him hard back then, and still managed to get some offense in now…several years later. However, Kane was able to turn things around with a counter to the Lionsault. Jericho eventually was in there with Undertaker and was in the midst of getting the Walls of Jericho on Taker, but Taker was putting on the hells gate choke, only to get leg dropped by The Big Show! This match was getting really interesting, and the action spilled out to the floor and this thing turned into a brawl…which reminds me, why was there no standing 10 count outside the ring? Oh well. The Brothers of Destruction isolated Chris Jericho in the ring, and this was the end of Jericho. Jericho was hit with a huge chokeslam from Kane, a big boot from Undertaker, only to get Big Show back in to equalize the situation.

However, Jericho hit the Codebreaker on Big Show then stole the world championship belt and ran off! Big Show and Undertaker were left in the ring, and the ref was confused, as was I.

The show was good, the main event was good too, although confusing. I’m not sure what he point is of having these no ending matches…I would appreciate someone winning or losing…geez.

WWE Smackdown 11/14/09 Review

So here we are again, in England and Cm Punk comes out and does his sermon as usual. He talks about how he’s better than everyone there, and that straightedge is a great thing, and he’s perfect, basically the same promo he’s been doing for a long time now.

C.M. Punk defeated R Truth

Cm Punk and R Truth are both amidst a depush in a lot of ways, and it’s interesting to see how WWE is letting the ropes go in regards to these two performers. The match was fast paced, which definitely favored Truth, and as we went to the first commercial break, Truth had Punk on the floor and reeling. The rest of the match was definitely back and forth between the two, but at one point Truth’s knee started to fail him and Punk capitalized. This made it a more event fight as Truth couldn’t use his speed to get the upper hand. Punk was in the lead, and after a quick roll up attempt and a hand full of ropes, Punk finished off Truth, although not clean.

Natalya defeated Mickie James

Mickie James finally had some good competition, and it showed that she wasn’t just a hack, although she still looks a bit heavy. The match was back and forth, with Natalya getting the upper hand after Michelle McCool and Layla were ripping up Mickie James’ clothing on the outside. Natalya won with a sharpshooter and the match was over. This match wasn’t that good, but it was better than the Raw side of the divas, that’s for sure.

Drew McIntyre vs Finlay no contest/double dq

Well we finally get a good match, or at least on paper a good match, with Drew McIntyre as he fights the guy that claims he loves to fight. This match was getting good, but the two just kept fighting each other outside the ring and then inside the ring to the point that the referee just threw the match out. McIntyre is getting a good build, I hope they keep it up. Finlay and Drew McIntyre need a no holds barred match, or something hat spills to the outside, ala Triple H vs Mankind, leading to an old school cage match. Remember? Summerslam 97? Come on…they stole the show…although Undertaker and Bret Hart was a great classic match too.

Batista and Rey Mysterio had a contract signing. Of course, in contract signing fashion, Mysterio threw the table over Batista and embarrassed him. NO contract signing goes smoothly, does it? I hate contract signings.

John Morrison vs Dolph Ziggler double countout

I still say that Mysterio vs Ziggler (the first time) was the best match of 2009 and proof that Ziggler has some major skills. In this match he was proving once again that he was a might good wrestler. Seriously, I couldn’t believe how good this guy is and wonder why WWE can’t get more guys with the same intensity. This match was getting really good, and these guys were definitely giving top notch performances, but both men fell off the top rope and got counted out. Morrison looked to have the worse of it though.

Beth Phoenix defeated Lisa Taylor

Beth Phoenix once again defeats a jobber in ring. This match was nothing more than a classic jobber vs up and comer type match up. Seriously, it was just your standard job. I was bored.

The Undertaker defeated Chris Jericho

This ppv caliber match, on paper, started with Undertaker in control and Jericho reeling as the phenom was definitely on top of his game. The match had a back and forth feel, with the Undertaker actually looking human. Jericho kept on pushing and eventually hit the Code Breaker! Without being able to pin the Undertaker Jericho went for the Tombstone Piledriver but it was reversed and eventually the Walls of Jericho were slapped on! However, Undertaker reversed that into the Hells Gate Submission and Jericho tapped like a school girl. Overall a good outing, but limited to television time restraints. They’ll meet again on ppv, and it should be an instant classic.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 10/16/09 Review

Wow, I guess I missed the whole new Smackdown music and intro change. It’s not that great, but who cares? It’s just the intro music after all.

Chris Jericho was made team captain of the Smackdown crew for Bragging Rights. Chris Jericho was ranting and raving about how he’s better than DX and out came The Big Red Machine Kane. He claimed that Jericho was not the real captain, and scared Jericho. Jericho and Kane are now co-captains of sorts. Whatever…I’m not getting Bragging Rights.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Mike Knox and Finlay in a triple threat match

Finlay and Mike Knox opened up the show. I thought Mike Knox got axed a while ago? He’s not that good, but oh well. Oh right, Dolph Ziggler was also in this match as it was a triple threat match. Oh and guess what else? This match already happened a few months ago, so it wasn’t a surprise to me how this match was going. Finlay started the match fighting off Knox to the outside, then focusing on Ziggler with his Celtic offense and fast aggressive hits. Ziggler got control of the match, at least momentarily before Knox got into the fray, but Finlay wasn’t about to let go of any control in this match up, and was back in it. This match was going back and forth for sure, and it was interesting to note that all three men were never fighting one another at the same time, it was always isolated to one on one with the third breaking up the close falls. Knox hit an Electric Chair on Finlay and Ziggler hit an awkward big splash off the top, which was a nice sequence at the mid point of this match up. He couldn’t capitalize as Mike Knox broke up another near fall. The three men would exchange near falls throughout the ongoing points of the match up. Finlay hit Rolling Thunder on both Ziggler and Mike Knox which was the most impressive part of this match up. Finlay brought in his weapon as usual, knocked out Mike Knox but was broken up by Ziggler, and Ziggler got the pinfall! Once again stealing the match as he did a while back in the same exact pairing of guys. Ziggler is now a part of that Smackdown team for Bragging Rights.

Cryme Tyme defeated The Hart Dynasty

Oh man, once again we get this match? I guess this is another way to force viewers to see the same thing, especially since the stipulation is that the winners will get into the Bragging Rights Smackdown team led by Jericho and Kane. I was impressed initially by The Hart Dynasty, but at this point they are just jobbers to me. I don’t see them as a viable tag team at all, and maybe that’s just me, but come on, they haven’t been that good, at least not to get the Hart name. DH Smith had full control of the Big Shad early on, controlling him with rest holds, submissions and offense. JTG got a hot tag and started to clean house. He was hitting fast dropkicks, quick reversals and was actually flying and getting the crowd into this. It looked like he was on his way to winning this thing, but Tyson Kidd was tagged in and barely got away. JTG impressed me with a new finisher, and the win with a pinfall on Tyson Kidd! Like I said, The Hart Dynasty are just jobbers right now.

Vickie Guerrero is back with a new wrestler…I don’t know what’s going on here…this is odd…but here is the new wrestler Eric Escobar.

Eric Escobar defeated Matt Hardy

Matt Hardy is still a little chunky, I’m not sure if you guys out there notice that too. He hasn’t been in shape since returning. Escobar is a new guy, I haven’t seen much out of him, and he was a little green. Hardy was definitely the aggressor, forcing Escobar to learn quickly in ring to survive, and it wasn’t looking good for Escobar’s first major match in WWE. He did have a good flurry of offense, but nothing major. I mean, if clotheslines and hard rights and lefts are major, then maybe I’m reviewing a different show. However, right when I threw in the towel for Escobar, Vickie Guerrero interfered and helped Escobar win the match up! That’s right, he has pinned Matt Hardy and is now a part of the Smackdown team for Bragging rights.

The Miz and John Morrison did a special edition of the dirt sheet that ended with them nearly fighting each other. Insults were thrown, let’s just say that. It was a waste of time really, but those two are clever on the mic, I must admit that.

Drew McIntyre defeated R Truth via countout

Finally, these two are fighting, at least for me to finally get a chance at seeing. These two have been building a good feud, how? By doing things old school. Drew has been assaulting R Truth backstage and in matches and that’s great. I wish things were more like that more often, just random fights backstage. Truth had this match going his way early on, hitting major offense with great power. Once again, Drew continues to impress this time by forcing R Truth to miss the ten count, and lose this match. Drew would attack on the outside and inside, and just looked like a good new comer to the world of Smackdown. He also won a spot on the Smackdown team for Bragging Rights.

Rey Mysterio defeated Batista

Batista and Rey Mysterio had a match here, and it was obvious that Batista did not want to wrestle this match up. Mysterio on the other hand wanted to have a serious match up, and was coming back to any offense that Batista was throwing at him. This match was essentially a stalemate at least in the early goings. As the match went forward, Mysterio isolated Batista’s leg and tried to make this match swing his way. Batiasta was nearly put in the 619 but ducked out of the way, Mysterio just kept moving forward; Batista of course started to ramp up as well. The two friends were playing up that relationship in this match up and nothing crazy was happening, the two just continued to move forward. Batista looked seriously considerate during this match, wanting not to hurt his friend here and pushing forward with power moves, trying to put Rey Mysterio away without killing him overall. This made for a slow match up, with Batista slowing the pace down so that Mysterio couldn’t go all out, and he didn’t have to look like a jerk. This was made ever more evident when he latched onto several rest holds on Mysterio. Mysterio fought it out though and he kept going for faster moves and moments, to no avail. Mysteiro hit the 619 and then went for the Hurricanrana, but was caught by Batista, and while Batista was going for the Batista bomb, Mysterio countered and hit the Hurricanrana after all and scored the pinfall on the big man! Batista argued with the ref claiming that the shoulder was up, and it was to no avail either, Batista just accepted the defeat.

Post match, CM Punk hit Mysterio with the GTS and then ran off!

Not half bad, I didn’t hate this show that’s for sure.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 8/14/09 Review

CM Punk opened up the show, and his new shirt is badass! Now that’s a shirt! I love that thing, if you saw it, you know! Punk got on the mic and delivered another one of his heel speeches. Teddy Long came out and interrupted Cm Punk. Jeff Hardy came down and talked some more, and that was that.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Finlay

Dolph Ziggler and Finlay put on a halfway decent match. Ziggler took some punishment, and wasn’t able to counter Finlay’s overt style, but was in fact able to get a few shots in, including a running kick to the corner of the ring, to lead us to commercial break. Upon returning from the break, Dolph Ziggler was showcasing how intelligent Ziggler is in regards to his abilities. He was playing the more technical wrestler role here, while Finlay was having a hard time managing reversals. Finlay’s overt strong style, complimented Ziggler’s attempts for technical counters and heavier impact moves. Mike Knox came to ring side, and was watching outside the ring, meanwhile the two mid carders were putting on a good match up. Ziggler, continued to take punishment towards the end of this match up, with Finlay hitting hard shots to the face, and eventually tossing Ziggler outside of the ring, right in front of Mike Knox. As the two men went back to the ring, Knox hit Finlay, and Ziggler capitalized winning this match and moving forward in his quest to solidify his wrestling skills.

Post match Mike Knox attacked Finlay and pummeled him outside of the ring.

CM Punk defeated John Morrison

Here we go, Cm Punk vs Morrison three, and this time Punk was starting things out solid. The match started to get a little fast paced, and of course we had to go commercial break. After we came back from Break, the two were locked into Punk’s more technical style, forcing Morrison to stay grounded instead of hitting his fast paced offense. Punk was definitely trying to tire out Morrison so that he couldn’t hit his finisher, and more. However, Morrison kept finding ways to wiggle out of headlocks, and stretches, causing Punk to show a little frustration over this match up. Punk couldn’t hit his GTS, trying twice to get Morrison down for the count. Morrison nearly put away Punk twice, nearly hitting his Starship Pain, but it wasn’t to be had, as Punk fought back hard, and eventually hit the GTS to get the pinfall victory, finally defeating Morrison. This gets match of the week for wrestling, that’s for sure. This was a good overall match up, and Punk really proved that he’s not just a paper champion or a midcarder on his way down. Morrison also was impressive, but was two steps behind Punk at the end, and Punk made sure to capitalize, making this match a good entertaining bout.

Melina defeated Layla

Layla was giving a lot of pain to Melina. Melina, being very flexible, seemed to take a lot of pretzel like positions at the hands of Layla. Layla looked like she was improving nicely, but it was evident that she wasn’t quite ready for the big time, showcasing uneasy moments and second guessing her moves. Melina was definitely a better wrestler in this match, but that doesn’t mean a whole lot as Melina’s screams and random offense did not make any sense and was done with a slow movement that really took me out of the match up. There was also several botched moves, and misses that were just too obvious to ignore. While Melina is getting better, she just isn’t ready to carry a newcomer like Layla in this match and it showed as the match went on longer. Melina screaming was annoying as hell too, and after the match was over, I was so glad to finally get past the mandatory divas match up. I hate the wwe divas, they can’t wrestle, they are just stupid to me. I’d rather watch the Knockouts, at least they actually have good timing at times.

The Big Show defeated JTG

The Big Show dominated this match up against JTG to the point that this match wasn’t too great. I mean, The Big Show doesn’t have to job out to JTG, but it wasn’t that entertaining to me. Meanwhile the wife was yelling at me because of the bathroom being dirty, so maybe it was her nagging that made me not like this match.

The Hart Dynasty defeated Jeff Hardy

Jeff Hardy seemed to be getting punished in this match. Word on the street is that Hardy isn’t going to finish out the year with WWE and hasn’t renewed his contract, so is this punishment? I had to wonder as Hardy had to fight both members of the Hart Dynasty in this match up, and was getting worked over through out this match up. It was actually kind of a let down overall with Hardy getting beat up at every moment, and even DH Smith looked good, with Hardy slowing down to half speed and letting DH catch up, when he would normally look slow and uneasy. For once, DH Smith was looking like a shade of his father, but only because Hardy played up his injury. Tyson Kidd was not on top of his game, making rookie mistakes that would make Bret Hart shake his head in disbelief. Tyson Kidd eventually got his bearings and with a little help of DH Smith pinned the champion clean, and this thing was over.

Post match CM Punk came down to the ring to pick the bones of Jeff Hardy. He was fighting Hardy, pummeling him with elbows until John Morrison ran down for the safe, hitting everyone that was moving in the ring, and causing the fans to react positively to the rising star. Cm Punk turned this around with the equalizer; a steel chair. He then wrapped Hardy’s neck into a chair, and was ready to break Hardy’s neck, but out ran down Matt Hardy and was fighting like crazy against PUNK! This got great cheers, and Morrison and Matt Hardy, one time enemies, were cleaning up the mess and the crowd was loving it. I wasn’t so sure just yet, but it was cool to see that he helped out.

The night ended with the Hardy Boys reuniting in the ring.

The camera’s went backstage and there was Vince McMahon.

Cm Punk and The Hart Dynasty will face The Hardy’s and John Morrison next week. Vince McMahon than just left and it looked like Teddy Long might be losing his job sooner than later.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 7/31/09 Review

Jeff Hardy opened the show, with the Belt and the crowd roaring. He just gave the traditional, I’m high on the belt speech. Lame.

Cryme Tyme defeated The Hart Legacy

I still say that DH Smith is somewhat slow. Tyson Kidd is the speed of the team, and it showed, as he really took it to Shad in this match. In fact, JR even gave Kidd the nickname “Pitbull” that is usually reserved for Jamie Noble. It might not stick, but it was obvious that in his match, he was in top form against the former champions. JTG got tagged in, and it was actually getting good. Cryme Tyme looked like they were getting a second big push here in the WWE! After several near falls, Cryme Tyme got a #1 contender spot against the Champions at Summerslam. This match was fast paced, and not half bad.

Eve Torres and Melina defeated Michelle McCool and Layla

This math was hilarious. Your standard divas match, with the best wrestler nearly killing someone because they aren’t ready. Melina’s flippity floppy was interesting and took a lot of practice, I’m sure. That move was dang impressive. It was like a hurricanrana type flip into a pinning predicament? I don’t know, it was a weird move. I thought McCool’s team would win this one. But nope, upon the replay, it was simply a sunset flip over from a Widow’s peak position, not as impressive. This match wasn’t that great.

Rey Mysterio & Finlay defeated Dolph Ziggler & Mike Knox

This match was given some good time, considering the people involved. Knox and Ziggler worked really well as a team, and remained impressive in this match. Finlay took some major damage in the second part of this match, meanwhile Rey Mysterio was patiently waiting a tag. The heels were in perfect form, during the course of this match, playing up everything to the fullest, creating a good overall match up, despite Knox and Finlay not being main eventers or even upper mid card these days. Mysterio got the hot tag and was thwarted by a waiting Dolph Ziggler, but eventually was tagged in the face with a big kick. Mysterio had this thing won, but Knox thwarted the pinfall, and it was Ziggler and Finlay in ring towards the end, but they weren’t both legal men in ring, Mysterio hit a nice roll up and pinned Ziggler! A nice turn about match with good spots, and overall great style, despite two low carders and two high mid carders; I liked this match.

The Great Khali vs Charlie Haas no contest?

Charlie Haas has to be on his way out too, he hasn’t won a match in a long time. This match went nowhere, Kane interfered, Khali left the ring, no announcement was made, and we went to commercial break.

Jeff Hardy defeated John Morrison

This match was free, that was odd to me. These two could really go, and they did. For about thirty minutes they were exchanging rough hits, high spots, and great points to prove that they are worth their weight in the main event. The crowd was roaring, and each man was definitely getting great reversals during this match up. When one man would go for a signature move, the other would duck, roll, or just get out of the way, this is the smartest wrestling I’ve seen since Dolph Ziggler and Rey Mysterio at the ppv. Morrison had this match sewn up several times, it looked like he was going to win this thing with so many moves. From the kicks, to the reverse springboard kick off the middle rope, he seemed poised to take the belt so early. Hardy kept going to the top rope, missing several times, but late in the match he hit the Swanton Bomb, with the crowd roaring he went for the pin and it was to no avail! Morrison managed to kick out, and this match had the crowd reeling. When Morrison went for The Starship Pain, Hardy put his knees up, derailing Morrison’s hopes and eventually got the pin with the Twist of Fate setting up the massive three count. Great match, and for free? Yep.

Post Match C.M. Punk came out to congratulate Hardy. He raised his hand, and then got on the mic. He started talking then hit him with the MIC in the head, then threw him out of the ring and went on a full blown attack! Yes this is rad, finally a heel that doesn’t give a damn! Punk just made a believer out of me, assaulting Hardy with reckless abandon! Seriously, this has been the best Heel fight I’ve seen in a long time. Punk simply beat the hell out of Hardy for no apparent reason other than he doesn’t like him and that’s the goal of wrestling to me. Create feuds out of hatred for each other, and not just because of someone stealing their wife or something lame like that. Hardy beat the hell out of Hardy, it was great, Punk reminded me of Steve Austin, no, Kevin Sullivan, no Chris Benoit from 1996…I don’t know, he was out there and just putting the boots to Hardy with no care for himself or his opponent. I loved this ending.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 7/24/09 Review

Jeff Hardy got on the mic and said some crap, I wasn’t paying attention, until Chris Jericho’s music hit and he came down. The two squared off in the opening bout.

Jeff Hardy defeated Chris Jericho

Chris Jericho started the match at full speed, but it was Jeff that kept turning things around, not letting Jericho have his way in this match at all and looking like a true champion. Jericho might have taken some hits, but he quickly turned this thing around, being the smarter technician in the ring. The two exchanged close calls, Hardy getting the most crowd involvement, but Jericho wasn’t letting him upstage him. Jericho had counters for a lot of great moments in this match, proving that Jericho should be the Champion that no one can top for a long time. He’s not having to cheat here, he simply has outsmarted Hardy at many moments. Hardy of course wasn’t giving up, so Jericho showed frustration, but given more time Jericho winning would not be too outlandish at all. Of course Jericho’s wit and quickness wasn’t to be the end all as Jericho pinned Jericho and gets the win. A good opening match, and good amount of wrestling for these two, great stuff here, if you missed it, check it out.

The Great Khali defeated Mike Knox

These two big men put on a match, it was passable as such, but nothing worth writing home about. Knox got some offense in with a distraction from Kane, who stood at the ramp watching, but it was Khali that put this one away with ease. Goodbye Mike Knox, and good riddance.

Dolph Ziggler now being walked out by none other than Maria, is not bad, not good either.

Dolph Ziggler defeated Finlay via countout

Wow, I hadn’t remembered Finlay was still active in WWE until he showed up for this match with Dolph Ziggler. If this match had more time I think it would have been a lot better. Ziggler was not dominating, Finlay had this thing well in hand, until it spilled onto the floor where Ziggler was cunning and managed to injure Finlay long enough to get a countout win, and a negative reaction from the crowd.
CM Punk was preaching a straightedge sermon. While I admire straightedge and enjoy the music that came out of the straightedge inception, but in wrestling? As a villain? I don’t know. Punk is sincerely trying to be a villain here, but I can’t hate him for being the way he is…but must force myself to cheer Hardy…No, Must resist…Punk…Punk…Punk.

Hardy came out and Punk left. That made the fans chant Hardy all the more. I didn’t.

Eve Torres defeated Natalya

Natalya was the obvious veteran, Eve was not timing things well and was taking a lot of punishment in ring. I said all that, but somehow, somewhere by some miracle Eve landed a moonsault! Natalya’s Surfboard was epic though, too little though, as Eve hit a moonsault that nearly broke her ankles, and Natalya loses….not sure why.

R Truth defeated Charlie Haas

R Truth came out to nice fan fare, which is much appreciated, I’m sure. He would have to contend with Charlie Haas. Let’s face it, even if Haas threw up the most impressive match ever, it wouldn’t matter because R Truth is going over these days. This match had a good flow, a little back and forth, but right when Haas seemed like he had things going, he lost with Truth going over after a nice Scissor kick, to rival Booker T in his prime. What’s up?!

Rey Mysterio defeated CM Punk via disqualification

These two put on a halfway decent match, with neither one getting the upper hand more so than the other. The equalizer from Punk was throwing Rey Mysterio into a ring post, and of course the WWE cut to commercial. This match had some real flow to it, but the commercial really took me out of the action. Punk hit a sweet tilt o world back breaker that was picture perfect, well placed onto Mysterio’s back. The champ really had Mysterio floored after that, and was working over Mysterio’s arm, a move that many people have focused on in the past. (I recall Dean Malenko’s top priority was Mysterio’s arm in his matches against Rey Mysterio for the Cruiserweight Belt in WCW) Dolph Ziggler showed up to watch the match at ringside, which I knew would play out later on in this match up. Mysterio hit a nice spring board press, but Ziggler decided to jump on the apron, and Punk capitalized with a nice heel kick, only for a two count, and this thing was ready to fall off the rails. Mysterio’s face got plastered with a knee to the face in the corner, and Punk was struggling to get this thing put away, but wasn’t able to get things done fast. Mysterio telegraphed a launch off the ropes and was in GTS position, only to counter and set up the 619! He then hit the splash and this match was over! But Ziggler ran in to break things up, and the match was thrown out…Mysterio wins!

Post match Ziggler gave Mysterio a major beating. Jeff hardy ran down to save Mysterio but that prompted CM Punk to chase down Hardy and hit a GTS to put a final exclamation point on the night!

This night of wrestling wasn’t half bad. I liked it. It had a few moments where I was starting to give up, like the Khali match. However, the opening and closing of the show was worth it. Jericho, Punk, Hardy and Mysterio are doing their thing and I don’t mind it that much. You might disagree though.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 6/12/09 Review

The show opened up with CM Punk and the new world championship in his hands. He got on the mic and was greeted with a chorus of boos and yeahs…it was mixed. Jeff Hardy came down and he was the face of the night cause people were all for Hardy not punk. Of course Edge came out and started yelling at each other. Hardy fought off Edge, then hit Punk with the Swanton and a Twist of Fate! The crowd went nuts.

You know why I hate these segments?

Because no MATTER WHAT the champion is still the champion; Punk is still champion regardless of Hardy & Edge talking trash. Whatever….

Out came Theodore Long to fix things.

What in the world? Ziggler put on quite the match here, and he took some nice bumps for Khali too. What in the world is going on with the world where Khali is having half way decent matches with the likes of Dolph Ziggler? This match was not half bad, and I do believe that Ziggler is improving, since he can carry Khali to a watchable match up. I didn’t even mind that it was a countout after the dust was settled. Ziggler impressed me, which is hard to do, so hello…my name is Dolph Ziggler…isn’t bad.

Michelle McCool & Layla defeated Eva Torres and Melina

This match was interesting, because Michelle McCool was on fire. She was working stiff, and she was really showing the other women that she wasn’t a diva, and that she was actually serious about wrestling. This showed throughout, and with the face breaker, it really drove the point home. This was an ok match, a little too quick, but other than that, it was the Michelle McCool match. I kept thinking, man Undertaker is nailing that? Lucky dude.

John Morrison & R Truth defeated Charlie Haas & Shelton Benjamin

This match had Morrison looking like the new all star, with R Truth playing second fiddle to Morrison’s faster, harder style. Truth had some great moments, and The Moonlight Drive plus Starship Pain made this match look like a million bucks and really pushed Truth and Morrison above jobber status. Speaking of jobbers, Benjamin and Haas have to be some very expensive jobbers, because they aren’t doing much but losing to whomever needs to get a rub to the higher levels of wrestling. That Starship Pain, wow, talk about timing. It makes RVD’s split leg moonsault look like child’s play, seriously.

C.M. Punk defeated Chris Jericho

These two put together a nice match up. I don’t agree with the champion being on before the main event. However, it’s ok afterall, this match was given a little bit more time than usual matches, and these two were great overall. Highlight for me was Punk missing the clothesline and then getting hit with the Lionsault, a nice exchange. Punk kept kicking Jericho and eventually got the GTS for the win on Jericho. This match was four stars folks, I liked it a lot; it could’ve ran further, but it was a good one for Punk!

Edge defeated Jeff Hardy via dq when Cm Punk interfered

I feel that the WWE keeps throwing rematches down at me, and I have no choice but to accept it. Once again, we see Edge and Jeff Hardy wrestle. I’m sick and tired of these guys wrestling, seriously, give me something new; oh well, these two put on a show for those of us that didn’t get the ppv this past weekend. Hardy, despite favoring his side, still managed to pull off some nice near falls with a ddt, and with some high flying offensive moves. Hardy seemed like he had this thing in the bag, but Edge managed to get to the outside, followed by Hardy.

Edge threw Hardy into C.M Punk at ringside, so He ran in and attacked Edge! This caused a DQ and then Hardy ra in and started fighting Punk, then fighting Edge, and this thing turned into a melee! The last man standing after all was done was CM PUNK! Kid looked strong, and I liked it a lot.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown Results 5/8/09

Hey gang,

Your pal sir jorge here. I wasn't able to watch Smackdown this week because I was at a show again. I went to see Braille and Othello rip up the mic near my home in Seattle. I do have the Smackdown results below for you.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 5/1/09 Review

We start the show like we start most wrestling shows, with someone coming out on the mic. Chris Jericho jumped in and talked but out came the Rated R superstar Edge! Edge got on the mic and told Jericho to shut up, and got into his face. The two were arguing when CM Punk interrupted them! OH HECK YEAH! I marked out huge, I like Punk right now, I hope he gets the title again, and I’m glad to see him getting the spotlight.

Punk is a smaller guy, he’s obviously not the traditional, and he’s getting a push. So anyone out there complaining about the WWE needs to shut their mouth and stop writing complaints.

Jericho walked out, and said he was done and he left, like a wuss toa tremendous amount of heat! Punk and Edge were left in the ring to talk. Tonight Punk faces Edge in a non title match and he plans on cashing it in, Edge leaves scared. A good opening to Smackdown.

John Morrison defeated Shelton Benjamin

Shelton Benjamin and John Morrison started their match fast and furious, yeah I said it; the two were evenly matched and were trading blow for blow until Benjamin hit a straight kick to the face of Morrison, and you could hear the impact! The Moonlight Drive was looming through the whole match, and after a few subtle mistakes from Benjamin it was hit forcing Benjamin to lose yet again. The Gold Standard is far from his title reign days, as Morrison wins another singles match without the Miz

Jeff Hardy defeated Rey Mysterio Jr , Kane, and Chris Jericho in a 4 way elimination match

I thought for sure that Chris Jericho would’ve won this match considering the opening segment. I thought this early, and so if the end of this paragraph confirms that, I want to express the fact that I didn’t read the spoilers, I never read spoilers unless I’m out of town. The crowd was firmly behind Hardy, as they were chanting Hardy throughout the onset of this match in such a vocal manner that it came across on television. The four were putting on a great match, with a few near falls in the mid match. The Walls of Jericho had Hardy nearly tapping, Kane then got into the Walls of Jericho. Then Rey was ready to hit the 619, but Jericho stopped it, a Whisper in the Wind took down Kane, and a Swanton Bomb created the first elimination…so I thought, but in came Jericho to eliminate Kane!

Chris Jericho Eliminated Kane.

Jericho eliminated himself after throwing a steel chair at Rey Mysterio as he leaped off the top rope! This was great piece of wrestling, if you missed it, you really missed it; Jericho’s elimination brought this match to an incredible conclusion.

Jericho was disqualified and eliminated.

Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio were left as the final two in this match, and that was an exciting thing. I was marking out huge for this match up, as I don’t recall these two wrestling in the past, at least not off the top of my head. The two exchanged several back and forth near falls, and eventually Jeff Hardy managed to get the 1-2-3 and pinned Rey Mysterio. This match was amazing towards the end, Neither one could get the upper hand right away, but it was Jeff with a roll up, locking the shoulders for the win. Jeff hardy is now the #1 contender at Judgment Day.

At this point there was a dance contest with Layla and Eve Torres and Cryme Tyme. It was battle style and I didn’t really care about it at all. Seriously, it was boring to me. It reminded me of the Nitro Girls, they were employed for no apparent reason. This was unnecessary to me.

MVP defeated Dolph Ziggler

MVP put his U.S title belt on the line here. Sherri Shepherd came out with him. This match was entertaining, nothing more nothing less. The match moved in a steady pace and it never really looked like MVP was in trouble at all. He mowed right through Dolph Ziggler and eventually scored the pinfall victory. I thought the match was average but boy was it entertaining. That’s all that matters at this point, entertainment, and it did that. Dolph is a good villain, much like Renee Dupree was a good villain for Cena when he had the U.S title. I hope MVP keeps it up, I’d like to see him move towards the main event like he did on Raw last week.

John Morrison and Chris Jericho started a fight backstage! That was amazing! FINALLY they are starting feuds like the old days! I marked out huge for that! I was like a little kid again! YES more FIGHTS backstage, that’s how you build hot feuds.

Case in point, Remember Triple H and Marc Mero? It started with Triple H yelling at Rena Mero backstage and it turned into a good feud! That was at Wrestlemania 12 for those of you that aren’t informed.

Cm Punk defeated Edge in a non title match

I wasn’t sure which way this match was going to go, but I was glad to see that C.M Punk was in the main event! Edge was taking advantage of his veteran status as he knew what to do to ground Punk. Punk has to really battle for very solid hit he nailed on Edge, and every time he had a little momentum, out came Edge with a counter. Edge started to lose a grip on things, then Edge was knocked out with a GTS! YES PUNK hit the GTS and won!

Following the match he started the briefcase, he then cashed in the money in the Bank!

Cm Punk vs Edge No Contest?

CM PUNK restarted the match, however out came UMAGA! Umaga hit C.M. Punk and decimated him into oblivion. The match never really started, I guess it closed down? I have no idea what happened here. Punk still has the title shot? I don’t know.

Punk was knocked out, Edge was knocked out, Jeff hardy was the #1 contender, Umaga is out assaulting Cm Punk for no reason, and that’s the end of Smackdown!

I don’t know what’s going on, but one thing is for sure, WWE has me intrigued and watching!

WWE Friday NightSmackdown 4/24/09 Review

Edge started the night with an in ring mic and started to random talking crap. Edge claims that there will be a final end at the ppv this weekend.

Matt Hardy & Kane defeated Jeff Hardy & C.M. Punk

Matt and Jeff didn’t star this thing, with Jeff staring against Kane. Matt Hardy then took advantage of Jeff’s tiresome battle against Kane, jumping in and hitting as many of his moves as he could, forcing Hardy to try and simply survive. For having so much talent in this match, it really as slow to build anything worthwhile, as the match got a little boring. A Whisper in the Wind grounded Matt and Punk fought off Kane outside of the ring, leaving the two brothers in ring alone. Jeff got shoved into Kane, who was on the apron, and Matt rolled up Jeff for a pinfall victory yet again.

The Big Show defeated The Undertaker

The Big Show and The Undertaker put some stupid wrestling match on. This match was dumb, slow and stupid. The Undertaker had a few shots in, but it was The Big Show hitting two right hands and The Undertaker looked dazed and the referee called the match. STUPID! The Undertaker has wrestled Big Show many times and many times before has choked him out, but this time he acts punch drunk and stupid. Thanks WWE you have insulted the fans this time. But, that’s fine, I hear Undertaker is on his last ride with the WWE.

Maryse defeated Gail Kim in a Divas Championship Match

Maryse was in control of this match early on, with several rest moves on Gail Kim. Maryse is not that great of a wrestler and it showed a lot during this match up. Gail Kim hit an impressive Huricanrana but couldn’t get the pinfall. She then went to the top rope as Maryse was trying to leave the match and forfeit, retaining her title, but things got turned around as she lured Gail Kim away from her game plan. Maryse hit her ddt finisher and won via pinfall.

MVP defeated Chavo Guerrero

This was just another example of Chavo Guerrero getting jobbed out. Chavo didn’t get much offense in, MVP had full control at all times and hit his finishing move and it was over. What a waste of time.

Post match, Dolph Ziggler came out to challenge MVP for a title shot sooner than later.

Batista & Shane McMahon defeated Priceless

Shane McMahon shouldn’t be wrestling. However, he does play up the face in peril, with Priceless using him as a punching bag in the ring. Batista and Shane were working well together and before the primary commercial break, they were cleaning house. They were fighting well and clearing the ring with lots of power moves from Batista and fast connecting rights and lefts from Shane. When we returned from the commercial break the match broke down and Shan McMahon was isolated for easy pickings by Priceless. Batista snuck in for a spinebuster behind the Referee’s back and Shane picked up the pinfall win!

Overall the WWE Smackdown show wasn’t that bad. It had a few good matches, but a lot of it was nothing you should be too concerned about. For being the last show before the big ppv, the wwe didn’t really capitalize, so I hope the ppv lives up to the hype, otherwise we’re looking at another mediocre ppv from the WWE.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 4/17/09 Review

The show started out with wrestling, no talking, just wrestling!

Jeff Hardy defeated The Big Show

As with all Big Show matches, he came out dominant and was just throwing his weight around. Hardy’s strategy wasn’t working at all, and Show was just hitting hard and showing off. Matt Hardy showed up right when Jeff was mounting a comeback against the Big Show and things were looking like Show was going to win. Jeff came back to the ring and hit the Whisper in the Wind, but Big Show caught him, turned around and socked Jeff Hardy in the face, then pinned him for the win! Big Show had a little bit of a battle in this match, but he managed to edge out Jeff Hardy.

Post match Matt Hardy was in the ring slapping Jeff Hardy around. This proved to be funny to me because I thought Matt was now on Raw, not Smackdown. I guess the draft doesn’t really mean anything, now does it? Lame.

The Khali kiss cam went Milf! That’s right, Khali had somewhat of a good looking milf volunteer and get into the ring. She was good looking, for a change, and Khali finally gets a fair shake!

Gail Kim defeated Maryse

Gail Kim put on a show here. Maryse wasn’t that great, and she even missed a cue and it looked bad. Gail Kim ran circles around Maryse as far as wrestling ability is concerned and I thought it was great. However, the fans were dead for this one, and it was disheartening to see no reaction to an obviously good woman wrestler. The divas should be put on notice, cause Gail Kim is impressing the crap out of me.

John Morrison defeated R Truth

Alright, I’m not too keen on these two guys, but I liked them. They were hitting hard in there, and you could tell that notion when Morrison was kicked in the chin hard with a Scissors Kick to the face. Morrison dropped R Truth on the back of his head and then hit his Finisher and BOOM, R Truth loses again; Remember when he was getting a good push? Yeah, those days are done.

Triple H was confronted by Randy Orton via Satellite…haha…it was terrible. We find out that the Monday Night raw match up they will have is going to be a No DQ match up.

The Undertaker defeated Shelton Benjamin

There was no chance in hell that Shelton Benjamin was going to win this match up. Could you believe the upset if Shelton Benjamin won this one? Remember when Maven threw out the Undertaker at the Royal Rumble way back when? The Undertaker nearly killed him, and man was that a great piece of that years Royal Rumble. Anyways, back to this match up. This match was cool, but the commercial in the middle made everyone miss a good part of the match up. However, Shelton was getting a lot of offense in, he actually almost made you believe that he had a shot at beating him. Yeah, I may have doubted whether or not Undertaker was going to win this match up. The Undertaker turned things around and gave Shelton Benjamin a picture perfect Tombstone for the easy win against the Gold Standard. I liked this match a lot, I really liked how Benjamin was hitting the big moves, and still not getting the win. You gotta respect the effort in this match up.

Dolph Ziggler defeated MVP

MVP started out this match quite fast, but Dolph Ziggler turned things around afterwards. Dolph had way too much tan, and he was definitely quite good for a beginner. I like his style, he could be a good established star if he doesn’t get in trouble for drugs again. I would cut down the tanning though, he is way too tan. However, he is doing good out there, however tonight wasn’t his night…until amidst a roll up he pulled the tights and won! That’s right, the WWE threw me a curve ball and MVP lost against Dolph Ziggler! That wasn’t half bad.

Batista defeated Ted Dibiase Jr.

Oh man, Batista is back and in full force. Ted Dibiase worked over Batista’s leg, trying to cut him down to size and forcing him to try to tire out the big man. Batista was doing a great job of cornering Batista off from his power moves. It was a good overall gameplan, and we saw shades of The Million Dollar Man in this match up, as he kept fighting through. The match would be cut short, but not before Batista gets thrown through the ropes and took a nasty bump. Ted Dibiase delivered a picture perfect Russian Leg Sweep and also dropped both feet on Batista’s abdomen, and I was on Team Dibiase at that point. He was definitely making Batista look weak, and for once, I liked a Batista match! Like all the great champions of old, Batista made a miraculous comeback and dropped Ted Dibiase with a backdrop, followed by a good Spinebuster! A spear was next and Batista was getting a second wind, limping on his hurt leg, but managed to deliver a huge Batista Bomb, which was awesome. Batista won! Who would’ve known?

Overall, Smackdown tonight was good. I liked it. I drank a Alaskan IPA while reviewing this, so it might have been that, which made me like this night. I liked how they had a lot of wrestling.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 3/10/09 Review

The first Smackdown opened up with Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy into a scuffle, ending with Matt Running away like a punk. Teddy Long came out and said that tonight there would be a stretcher match between the brothers Hardy.

The Big Show defeated Kofi Kingston

Once again, proof that the WWE doesn’t need a draft or roster shake up. Kofi is on Smackdown fighting Big Show, and Show was hurting Kofi with huge right hands, and really showing off his size. Kofi got some great shots in, but overall it wasn’t enough to get the Big show down and it was Big Show who came on top. Show hit kofi with that hard right hand and it was all over.

Proving yet again that the WWE does not need a roster split, Santino was introduced.

The Great Khali defeated Santino

Santino got dismantled in 20 seconds. Santino is funny, but man, I wish they would let him wrestle. Khali wanted to kiss Santino’s “sister” and it didn’t happen, so he beat up Santino and won the match. Lame squash match up.

Gail Kim defeated Michelle McCool

This match was not half bad. McCool is not that great of a wrestler at all, and it showed here. Gail Kim could carry this match if McCool were way better, but instead Kim was taking some major shots and doing a lot of bumping. She ended up winning with a quick counter, and she’s on the way to getting a title shot, I’m sure.

The Cutting Edge returned and the guest was John Cena. It was sad, and it sucked. Edge, from what I read online, is nursing an injury right now so he probably won’t win the title. Cena needs to turn heel like the world depends on it.

Priceless defeated The Colons

Once again, NO NEED FOR A DRAFT! The two teams in this match up were on different brands, and they fought each other quite well. This match seemed evenly matched, considering that these teams haven’t wrestled each other on television before. The Legacy team was fighting hard and ended up winning this match, somewhat easier than I thought they would. The teams did put on a good overall lengthy tag team match and I liked it for the most part. I didn’t like the post match, and I didn’t like that Randy Orton was there to raise the hands of his team mates. It’s stupid to think that there is a draft coming up and yet no one abides by the separations.

Matt Hardy defeated Jeff Hardy in a Stretcher Match

The Hardy Brothers fought in a nice Stretcher match. Matt hardy had all new tights, which were lame. They were skin tight and lame. The match was quite brutal and Jeff was getting worked most of the match up, even though he did throwdown some interesting hits before it was all said and done. The overall match up ended with Matt Hardy getting the hard fought win, and this match failed to impress me. It had some good moments, but it was just your average Hardy match up. Nothing too great here.

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 3/27/09 Another Smackdown Glory

Kane, Kofi Kingston, Finlay, Shelton Benjamin defeated Christian, Mark Henry, MVP, CM Punk

This match seemed like the one that happened at Raw but it was a little mixed up. The match was ok, a little slower than Monday night but it had some good sports. The match ended with C.M Punk jumping off the top rope into the waiting arm of Kane for the chokeslam. Kane won via pinfall and that was that. Not a great match up, not a terrible match up.

Post match Christian took to the skies and jumped off the top rope.

The Big Show defeated Jesse & Festus

Way to go Wwe! You have buried yet another tag team. Jesse & Festus were defeated easily by The Big Show, and it was terrible. This match had no major redeeming value to it and I can’t believe I had to watch this one. Terrible match, terrible burial of another tag team that is not half bad.

Rey Mysterio Jr defeated Chavo Guerrero

Surprise surprise, Chavo loses this match yet again. Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero wrestle the same match they always seem to wrestle together and this time it was just as exciting. Rey Mysterio put Chavo through a set of moves that we’ve come to love at this point and when Chavo missed the frog splash, Rey Mysterio capitalized.

Post match JBL hit Rey Mysterio with a big boot out of nowhere!

Matt Hardy defeated R Truth

Way to go WWE, lets just bury all the talent on the way to Wrestlemania! This match was good for what it was, but overall it wasn’t anything to really write home about. The match had a few good points, but overall it was R Truth getting buried by Matt Hardy, to make him look strong going into Wrestlemania.

The Colons & Brie Bella defeated John Morrison & The Miz w/ the other bella twin

This was a fast paced tag team match that featured yet again The Colons winning. This didn’t have much time to develop, and ended up having some adverse effects as the Backstabber once again put down Miz and Morrison. Good stuff here, but too short to be great.

Maryse vs Michelle McCool No Contest

This match was getting good but then Gail Kim jumped in the middle of the ring and hit a missile dropkick! The debut of Gail Kim was short and sweet, she laid out both divas in the middle of the ring. Good stuff overall.

The final moments of the WWE Smackdown show was just HBK doing a mimic of The Undertaker, dressed in white and quoting Genesis 1

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 3/20/09 Review and Results 500th Episode

Triple H showed up on Smackdown and said that Triple H and Stephanie are married in real life. He then rants on Randy Orton, blah blah blah.

Triple H defeated Kozlov

They must be trying to make Kozlov look more human or something because Triple H started this match like the key to defeating Kozlov was easy. Triple H quickly took control and was in good strides as we left for commercial break. After the break Triple H had things going in his direction, at least for a short moment, as Kozlov started to dominate with his heavy handed style. This match was looking like another easy Kozlov win, but Triple H turned things around yet again and he hit the Pedigree for the three count and the win.

MVP defeated Shelton Benjamin for the U.S Championship

This match wasn’t given a lot of time to develop, yet it was adequate for what little time it was indeed given. MVP hit his finisher in this average match for the title. Shelton is a good wrestler, but he just couldn’t manage a four star match up in this one. MVP did ok, but overall this match wasn’t all that great.

Shawn Michaels defeated Kane

When’s the last time the WWE called Kane the Undertaker’s brother? It’s been a while since they’ve acknowledged their own story lines in this manner. However, this time around Shawn Michaels was wrestling the Undertaker’s brother, not just Kane not just the Big Red Machine, they kept swinging it over to the fact that HBK has to wrestle the Undertaker at Wrestlemania. That notion annoyed me, especially since I knew what was going to happen in this match. Kane was dominating this match up early on, focusing on heavy hits to bring the showstopper down to his knees and not get back up for the super kick. I didn’t really get into this match because lately HBK has not been performing like he used to. He’s just a clone of Hulk Hogan, getting beat for a good amount of the match up, only to come back with a miraculous win with his finishing move. This was no different, it looked like Kane was going to hit the big chokeslam, but as Kane was chasing down HBK, the super kick made things equal, and HBK dropped the big man for the three count.

Jeff Hardy defeated The Brian Kendrick

This match took a turn for the extreme at times, but it wasn’t very extreme at all. Once again, the WWE has buried The Kendrick yet again. He used to be an up and coming star on Smackdown and now he’s just jobbing to Jeff Hardy. This was an interesting match up, but overall it was just too fast. I liked it, which was weird since nothing developed and Hardy just killed Kendrick.

The Undertaker defeated JBL

The WWE buries their recently crowned Intercontinental Champion by getting beat by the dead man. The match was interesting, nothing that is going to be remember for a long time, but the two wrestlers put on a show for the live crowd. It had a few moments where you thought that they weren’t calling it in, but they were doing just that. The Undertaker hit his spots, JBL hit his finisher, but it wasn’t enough to end it. The Undertaker won this match with his triangle choke and it was all over. It was an ok match, but it wasn’t that memorable, it was just boring to me.

The final part of th is match was lame. Big Show called out Edge, Vickie said she was in love with both guys.John Cena came out and yelled at Big Show and Edge. Seriously, this ending sucked. Great 500th episode! Stupid. Another stupid Smackdown ending

WWE Friday Night Smackdown 3/13/09 Results and Review Big Things Poppin

After last nights terrible night of wrestling, I wasn’t expecting a whole lot out of this one, but alas, things could’ve been better, right?

Edge defeated Kofi Kingston

Finally, Kofi gets his revenge, kind of. He wrestled Edge and for those of you just tuning in, you might remember that Kofi got knocked out cold at No Way Out 2009. Kofi had a lot of good offense in this match up, it seemed that he was on his best night, with great moments throughout. However, Edge is the champion and the champion doesn’t lose with some random mid carder. Kingston did try to pull a rabbit out of the hat many times, but when Edge blocked the spinning kick, Kingston got trapped into The Sharpshooter! Edge made Kofi tap out, in what has to be the first time we’ve seen someone win with the Sharpshooter in a long time. At least a Canadian did it, otherwise, it wouldn’t have been as sweet. Edge wins again.

John Morrison & The Miz defeated The Colon’s

I was hoping for the ultimate unification of the tag team titles, because I’m tired of having two different sets of championship belts. I have to admit, Primo is the fastest pure athlete I’ve seen in a long time. He has the timing of a great Intercontinental Champion, and I was very impressed how he handled this match up when he was in the ring. The Miz and Morrison put up a good fight, but the Smackdown champs were just poetry in motion compared to the ecw guys. Morrison hit the Moonlight Drive and pinned Carlito for the win!

Chavo Guerrero & Shelton Benjamin defeated Mvp & R Truth

Benjamin refused to tag in his rival Chavo Guerrero in this match. Chavo forced his way in by tagging the back of Chavo, and he still has it. He’s fast and he can go, even if he’s not exactly the best champion in the world. MVP got hit with Pay Dirt and it was over! The match was ok at best, nothing too really write about, the guys put on a standard tag match, being careful not to really hurt one another since they have to make it to Wrestlemania.

Matt Hardy did his best Raven impression by going on and on saying something like “What about me, what about Raven…I mean Matt Hardy”. Jeff Hardy came out and confronted his brother Matt. Jeff finally got mad and started to fight off Matt, only to have Matt crawl away crying and saying sorry. Jeff looked weird, and this feud just started to get interesting.

Maria & Melina defeated Maryse & Michelle McCool

This match was starting to get better but as the match really started to develop there was a roll up and it was over. I hate the women’s division in wwe just like I hate a lot of the TNA programming for this reason alone. It’s a matter of having these short matches that don’t really develop into anything more than quick matches with random pins off of roll ups! This match sucked, the wwe divas suck, and I’m tired of watching them.

Finlay defeated The Brian Kendrick in a money in the bank qualifying match

The Brian Kendrick got buried here. I guess he’s just not a viable wrestler for Wrestlemania huh? Remember all those weeks of having The Brian Kendrick show up and win so many different times reintroducing him to the wwe universe, and now where is he? Jobbing out to Finlay? Man this is such a stupid idea. The match was ok at best, it didn’t really set up very well, it was boring to me. Kendrick maybe on the road to be future endeavored!

The Undertaker defeated Kozlov

The Undertaker started this match fast and with a lot of fury. He was obviously trying to get some retribution for the loss he had two weeks ago. The match easily broke out of the ring and spilled onto the floor, creating an instant classic, right? Nope. The WWE had to cut to commercial, and I don’t know, I lost interest in the match. I’m not sure why this match is happening, but I guess it needs to be done since Kozlov isn’t fighting Undertaker at Wrestlemania. Also, Kozlov isn’t undefeated anymore so I guess if he loses matches it’s all good. Undertaker was in full control after the commercial break and things were moving forward nicely. Kozlov started to turn things around by cinching in a headlock and twisting it tightly, but Undertaker pushed away with side throw suplex, getting back into a standing street fight with Kozlov. After all was said and done The Undertaker did what he does best, he dropped Kozlov on his head with a massive Tombstone piledriver, winning clean.

This edition of smackdown had some rough spots, but overall this was a good night of wrestling from the WWE. They sure know how to put on a good show, but it wasn’t complete, that’s for sure.
