WWE Battleground 2017 Results and Review I Am Way Late Peeps

Holy Crap! - SRC WWE.com

SRC WWE.com - Singh Brothers Worked Their Ass Off Folks
I have to apologize for being so late this week in reviewing the PPV from the weekend. I had a few days off from watching wrestling after the show because it really made me question why I even watch any longer. It’s really that bad. This event was possibly one of the worst shows I’ve ever seen, but you already know that. I am not supposed to be drinking these days, as I’m on depression medication, but I had to get a New Castle to get through this one. Let’s discuss this showcase of well, entertainment, if you can call it that.

Aiden English defeated Tye Dillinger

I love Tye Dilllinger, but you’ll find he’s getting buried all the time. Remember the pop he got at the Royal Rumble? Well that’s gone. Aiden English won this match, and it was a hard hitting one. I was making a pizza when this started, but it wasn’t half bad. I liked it. English finally gets a win, but I miss the pop that Gotch and English got with Blue Pants in Nxt.

The New Day defeated The Usos

Perhaps the best match of the night, with a lot of fighting, kickouts, and great reversals. However, the New Day’s schtick is tired to me. This was a fun match, no doubt, and it’s the best match of the night.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Baron Corbin

Another boring match. These guys didn’t have chemistry together. It was really bad. Corbin loses with a low blow, done and done.

Natalya won a 5 way dance

This was a fast moving, elimination match. It was tired, and I didn’t understand the pacing or the results. It’s a terrible showing for the women, with the exception of Natalya and Becky Lynch.

Kevin Owens defeated Aj Styles

This was a boring match. I was shocked at how bored I was, and the failed finish was terrible.

Breezango gets beat down.

Um, ok.

John Cena defeated Rusev (Flag Match)

This was fun, but John Cena winning was so obvious. Rusev worked his ass off here, and I loved his intensity and look. But you knew that Cena was going to win.

Sami Zayn defeated Mike Kanellis

This was boring. I couldn’t believe it.

Jinder Mahal defeated Randy Orton in a Punjabi Prison Match

The Singh brothers were amazing here. I loved them, and hope one day to meet them. They took on some serious bumps. Much props to Orton too, he looked legitimately injured at one point. I also loved how he was giving it to Jinder at some points. Great Khali came out and wow, I popped huge, and then he helped Jinder, winning the match. Terrible match, but nice surprise at the end. Props to the Singh brothers, wow.

Overall, Battleground was bad. Really bad. But there were a few bright spots that make this not as terrible as some of the things I’ve sat through in my life as a wrestling fan.

WWE Fastlane 2017 Results and Review The Biggest Burial Ever

Scott Steiner called in to my podcast to say, "He's FAT". Just saying.
WWE Fastlane was in the midwest this week, and of course I didn't go. I wanted to, and I wanted to go to Smackdown in Indianapolis this week, but have decided to stay home. I decided to just save my money and hopefully I can go to Las Vegas and Spokane. We'll see what happens.

This night in WWE history was interesting, and it was predictable. So predictable that I predicted all of the results except for 1.

Here we go, the results and review for this year's Fastlane.

WWE Fastlane 2017 Results

Rich Swann and Akira Tozawa def. The Brian Kendrick and Noam Dar (Kickoff Match)
Samoa Joe def. Sami Zayn
Raw Tag Team Champions Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson def. Enzo Amore and Big Cass
Sasha Banks def. Nia Jax
Cesaro def. Jinder Mahal
Big Show def. Rusev
WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville def. Jack Gallagher
Roman Reigns def. Braun Strowman
Raw Women's Champion Bayley def. Charlotte Flair
Goldberg def. Kevin Owens to win the Universal Championship

WWE Fastlane 2017 Review

Rich Swann and Akira Tozawa def. The Brian Kendrick and Noam Dar (Kickoff Match)

The opening match was actually quite good. This match featured Swann and Tozawa putting on a showcase of moves against the heels. Someone said that this was thrown together, but it wasn't. Swann and Dar have been fighting with Alicia Fox in the middle of things.

Samoa Joe def. Sami Zayn

Sami Zayn lost like I said he would. He got beat down, and while he put on a nice show, Joe won making Zayn pass out. Oh well.

Raw Tag Team Champions Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson def. Enzo Amore and Big Cass

This was a far better match than any podcast said it would be. The Club Sandwich boys won with smart tag team action. Enzo and Cass are headed for a big break up.

Sasha Banks def. Nia Jax

Nia Jax should've won here. Banks got beat up a lot, and by some miracle won. She made Jax tap out, done and done. This was a disappointing ending.

Cesaro def. Jinder Mahal

Jinder My Balls is so jacked, how does he not get in trouble for steroids? Cesaro won a very entertaining match, which wasn't announced beforehand.

Big Show def. Rusev

Big Show beat the hell out of Rusev. The burial of Rusev is complete now, goodnight.

WWE Cruiserweight Champion Neville def. Jack Gallagher

Wow. This was the best match of the night. Neville really put on a show with Gallagher. Gallagher threw down a great deal of moves. It was a great match, and even my wife looked up from her smartphone here and there.

Roman Reigns def. Braun Strowman

Roman Reigns, wow. The Burial of Brown Shoeman is complete. Braun looked good, went for a huge splash and missed. Reigns wins CLEAN. I kid you not.

Raw Women's Champion Bayley def. Charlotte Flair

Bayley won a hard hitting match, but it wasn't without Sasha Banks interfereing. Flair wasn't in tip top game here. Bayley pushed through a great match, but not without a few misses, so I guess that's something to remember.

Goldberg def. Kevin Owens to win the Universal Championship

Did I call it or did I call it? Goldberg BURIES Kevin Owens fast. Kevin Owens loses in 21 seconds. That's the end of this.

Prediction For Goldberg

Mark my words. GOLDBERG defeats Lesnar in 18 seconds at Wrestlemania. I'm calling it here first.

Or

Goldberg vs. Lesnar vs. Kevin Owens vs. Chris Jericho for the Universal Title will be announced so that Goldberg can lose the title to a full timer.

Or

There will be a money in the bank ladder match, and the winner will cash in on Goldberg and WIN.

A Better VHS Experience: WCW World War 3 1997 Results and Review

World War 3 - 1997 Results and Review - A Better VHS Experience
The Palace of Auburn Hills was the home for this event in 1997. The big jump that WCW was gaining in popularity was evident here. This venue was coming from Auburn Hills, Michigan, and there were 17,128 people jam packed in the building for this event. This had a total of 9 matches, and it really showcased how powerful the WCW brand started to get.

I used to have the VHS edition of WCW World War 3 1997, and the original recording from the PPV. I can tell you that there are a lot of musical edits, as well as sign edits that the WWE has put on the Network. If you want to see the unedited version of this, you should buy the VHS tape here.

Here are the quick results, and then I’ll go into the review of the wrestling.

WCW World War 3 1997 Results

The Faces of Fear defeated Glacier and Ernest Miller
Perry Saturn defeated Disco Inferno (WCW Television Title Match)
Yuji Nagata defeated Ultimo Dragon
The Steiner Brothers defeated The Blue Bloods (WCW Tag Team Title Match)
Raven defeated Scotty Riggs (Raven’s Rules Match)
Steve McMichael defeated Alex Wright
Eddie Guerrero defeated Rey Mysterio Jr. (WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match)
Curt Hennig defeated Ric Flair (NO DQ WCW U.S. Title Match)
Scott Hall won World War 3 after eliminating The Giant

WCW World War 3 Review

Here we go, the event was one of the highlights of WCW’s 1997 year. Of course, on the opposite side of wrestling, you had the WWF putting on a show known as Survivor Series in which they completely screwed over Bret Hart, but hey, that’s their thing, and this is the WCW version. Let’s talk WCW and this event that went down.

The Faces of Fear defeated Glacier and Ernest Miller

I may be one of the only idiots that liked Glacier. Yes, he was a gimmick that was ripped from Mortal Kombat, but that wasn’t a bad thing. He had some stellar wrestling moves, and was far better than Ernest Miller. The Faces of Fear were always grand in my book, and Meng was still in his prime before getting injured by Bill Goldberg. The Barbarian was slowing down, but overall this wasn’t a bad match. There was a lot of power moves and eventually the Faces of Fear got the big win.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5

Perry Saturn defeated Disco Inferno (WCW Television Title Match)

Perry Saturn was a very unique wrestler and it showed here with Disco Inferno. Disco is always a character, but he did put on some good matches here and there. This was a good one, but it was Perry Saturn’s unique offense that got the win. Saturn won with the rings of Saturn from what I remember, but overall, this match was well timed, and on the button. Saturn and Disco’s timing was great here, and I definitely enjoyed the match.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Yuji Nagata defeated Ultimo Dragon

If you’re not a pure wrestling fan, then you aren’t going to like this match. At the time Ultimo Dragon was feuding with his manager Sony Onoo and Nagata was taking Ultimo’s place in the Asian wrestling stable that was in WCW. Yuji Nagata was the heel, and Dragon was playing off of his strong style. Dragon was great here, and Nagata’s strong style, mixed with some clever counters made this match really strong. The fans didn’t get it at first, but over time they started to get into it and the ending was a shocker, with Ultimo falling short thanks to Sonny Onoo’s constant nagging outside.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

The Steiner Brothers defeated The Blue Bloods (WCW Tag Team Title Match)

This was a hard-hitting match, with The Steiner Brothers working very stiff with Regal and Taylor. I liked it, the fans seemed to get a kick out of the Steiners, and the match was not too long. You’re not going to get a technical masterpiece here, but The Blue Bloods do have enough heat to make you invest a little bit of your attention into this match up. The Steiners were definitely a great team at one point, so don’t just judge them by their solo runs.

Check out WCW World War 3 1997 VHS Tape, by purchasing it here!

Match Rating: 2 out of 5

Raven defeated Scotty Riggs (Raven’s Rules Match)

JJ Dillon came out and announced that Raven had to decide whether or not he was going to sign a WCW contract. He hadn’t yet, in story line. Well this match featured some nice hits, and Riggs was definitely a good foil for Raven. The match was hard hitting as it was No DQ and it eventually saw Riggs get beat down to the point where he was knocked out solid. I loved the drop toe hold to a steel chair, and the fact that Riggs sold the gimmick by wearing an eye patch. At the end of the match, the flock picked up Riggs and went out of the arena through the crowd. I loved Raven’s WCW Run.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

Steve McMichael defeated Alex Wright

I miss Alex Wright. I liked the stupid dance, and then Kaz, and the other dancing idiots. This wasn’t much of a match. McMichael was underrated if you ask me, and he won this without a ton of action. It was a fun in between.

Match Rating: 2 out of 5

Eddie Guerrero defeated Rey Mysterio Jr. (WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match)

People always cite the original match, but this is one is my personal favorite. Rey Mysterio and Eddy (as I read it) put on another great match. This time around, Eddie was wrestling a hard style on this one. Instead of flying around, Mysterio was grounded, and Guerrero was attacking ribs, legs, and grounding the little guy. There were a few moments that showed Mysterio selling injuries from Nitro and previous matches. If you liked the Halloween Havoc match, then you will like this one for sure. Without Eddie trying to break Mysterio’s mask, this match really took on a whole new world. Again, people like to cite the Halloween Havoc match as their best, but this was definitely a great sequel to a great match. More people should mention this one, especially with Eddie’s psychology focusing on body parts of Mysterio rather than just trying to do the same thing he did at Halloween Havoc. Great moments, that led to a false finish, and eventual win by Eddie Guerrero! Great match, and one of the best in the cruiserweight division ever! Killer frog splash for the win, and the constant Eddie Sucks chants, great stuff here. Mysterio put on a valiant effort, but man, Eddie was on fire here.

Match Rating: 5 out of 5

Curt Hennig defeated Ric Flair (NO DQ WCW U.S. Title Match)

Two guys that are legends in wrestling faced off over the United States title on this show. How could these guys follow up a stellar cruiserweight match? Well, psychology my dear friends, some great overall booking in this match up. Hennig and Flair put on a show of chops, reversals, suplexes, and a great overall ending. In the end, Ric Flair slapped on the Figure Four and looked to be winning the title, but Hennig used the belt, which was in the ring to knock his old ass out, and then get the win. This had the crowd going crazy, and for me, this was a great booking decision, a desperation move that made this rad.

Match Rating: 4 out of 5

Scott Hall won World War 3 after eliminating The Giant

This was a great one. Scott Hall was getting beat down, and a lot of different wrestlers were part of the last 10, 6, and 4 and then it was The Giant and Scott Hall! The crowd erupted, and then Sting came down from the rafters, going absolutely ape, only to find out that it was KEVIN NASH! Oh man, great ending to a good overall show. For those that aren’t familiar with World War 3, it’s a 60 man battle royal.

Match Rating: 3 out of 5

As far as WCW shows are concerned, World War 3 is a great example of a great show amidst a bad show versus the WWF. Yes, the Montreal Screw Job occurred in WWF in the same month, but this show was better all around. I loved it. I didn’t like the screw job, and didn’t think that show had a lot to it, but this one, had a lot of wrestling, great moments, and overall stellar match ups in the final 3 matches.

My recommendation is that you purchase the VHS tape of this, and NOT watch it on the WWE Network. You will find that there are subtle edits, changes in the music, and a lot of cuts that weren’t supposed to be there. But hey, that’s just my two cents.

WCW Fall Brawl 2000 Results and Review A Better VHS Experience

I read online that this was the last great WCW pay per view, and therefore I had to watch it. The reason why I’m filling this site with more reviews, is simple, I love wrestling, and while the current product is grand, I want to go back and see the old stuff, and lots of things I missed while I was going through college and other things in my life.

With that in mind, here is WCW Fall Brawl 2000 Results and Review!

The show went on air on September 17, 2000 and was held at the HSBC Arena. The crowd here was 8,638 screaming WCW fans, which were definitely in decline at this point.

Elix Skipper defeated Kwee Wee (WCW Cruiserweight Championship)

This is an interesting match up, and at around 11 minutes, it was actually really good. Major Gunns, I met at an XPW show, and she was just as hot, albeit she was freezing when I met her. She’s hot here, and apparently a porn star, the scenes I saw her in weren’t that hot, but that’s just me. As for this match, Skipper was flopping around and Kwee Wee took some hard bumps off the apron. This was a good match, however, and I enjoyed it for what it was.

The Misfits In Action defeated 3 Count

3 Count is a breath of fresh air on these later WCW pay per views. The talent that these 3 guys have is insane. I can’t believe they didn’t get more of a shot in WWE when the company was purchased. The Misfits are familiar faces from the Wall to Chavo Guerrero, I kid you not. This was post Eddie leaving, mind you. Overall, a good match with lots of action, although nothing too grand. Wall going through a table was fun, but 3 Count should’ve won if you ask me.

The Harris Brothers defeated Kronik in a First Blood Chain Match

Not a stellar outing. However, the guys brawled, and eventually it was over. I don’t have a lot to say about this one, it was a throwaway match and felt that way. The guys bladed.

Lance Storm defeated General Rection (WCW US Championship)

This wasn’t a great match. This was a throw away match. Hugh Morris apparently changed his name, and well this match was not grand. It went around 6 minutes, and it was sloppy and boring. I did appreciate Lance Storm trying hard to get this going, but it was just awkward to say the least.

The Filthy Animals vs. The Natural Born Thrillers (NO CONTEST)

This was the infamous match in which Paul Orndorf got seriously injured. He was ripped, but with a little arm, since he had a stroke and his arm’s strength decayed. Either way, he goes for a piledriver, and shatters vertebrae straining, and goes completely numb. The match was called after 16 minutes, and it was sad to see someone get seriously hurt in a match.

Shane Douglass and Torrie Wilson defeated Billy Kidman and Madusa in a Scaffold Match

This was the best scaffold match I’ve ever seen. Torrie Wilson was scared, so she didn’t get involved as much. Madusa and Shane Douglas fought as well as Kidman. Madusa and Kidman took bumps off the scaffold onto rigged areas, so that they weren’t hurt. Not bad, but again, it’s a scaffold match.

Sting defeated The Great Muta and Vampiro in a triangle match

This was interesting, with the story being told that Sting helped Great Muta, even though they’ve been enemies since the 1990s. Vampiro got lost in the shuffle here. He had a championship belt, but wasn’t sure why or which one. This was an ok match, albeit only 5 minutes long, with a few spots to even mention. Overall, not a great one, even though Sting won. I guess that’s all I can say about that.

That 70’s Guy Mike Awesome defeated Jarrett in a Bunkhouse Brawl

Holy crap, what a match. 9 minutes of brutality, with Jarrett actually taking hardcore match bumps. Highlights included Jarrett getting through into a table wrapped in barbed wire, and I kid you not, holy crap, Gary Coleman interfered. Coleman got obliterated with a chair, and I do mean obliterated, but it was Awesome that picked up the win. This was a wild brawl. Jarrett actually put on a good display and the crowd went insane for Coleman and the guitar shot that looked incredible. He seriously got hit in a great visual.

Scott Steiner defeated Goldberg in a No DQ Match

I heard great things about this match, so I was interested in seeing what they did in this one. All I can say is that it was wild! Steiner and Goldberg were throwing every suplex out there, every powerslam, and at one point Steiner was caught off the top rope and drilled into the canvas. This was a fine match, Steiner’s best since the early 1990s, until Midajah and again, I kid you not Vince Russo appeared and hit Goldberg with bats and pipes! After knocking Goldberg out Steiner won with the Steiner Recliner, and that was that. This was a perhaps the best brawl, and wrestling combo match I’ve seen from Steiner ever, holy crap. Oh and the strength of Goldberg, geez, you’ll like this, unless you’re an idiot.

Booker T defeated Kevin Nash in a Steel Cage Match

This was not a grand match. Kevin Nash phoned it in, Booker did alright, but it was just a boring 9 minute main event, and just not good. It was rushed, and the fans were sent home happy.

Overall Rating: 7 out of 10

While there were some wild moments in this one, the longest match went to a no contest at 16 minutes long. Other than that, this was a disorganized pay per view. However, I will say that the Steiner versus Golberg match was perhaps the finest brawl I’ve seen in a long time. Watch it, and look out for Goldberg’s insane power as he really threw around Steiner. Steiner is no slouch either, but Goldberg was no selling a lot of offense. Russo and Midajah with baseball bats and pipes was cartoonish, but overall, this is a C grade pay per view as WCW was on their way out.

WWE NXT Takeover Dallas 4/1/2016 Results and Review

Here we go, WrestleMania weekend is here yet again and I’m back in action. First up I am going to talk about WWE NXT Takeover Dallas. I did not see this live, I had to watch it this morning before work. Last night I was doing anything else, since it was on a little too late for me on the East Coast. Now, in regards to this night of action, there’s a lot to say and some of it you may not like.

First and foremost, this was live from the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center which holds some 10,000 some odd individuals. I wanted to go, but I decided against it since I have no friends to meet up with, and well, that’s just my damn luck, right?

WWE NXT Takeover Dallas Results

Dark Matches

Manny Andrade defeated Christopher Girard
Apollo Crews defeated Elias Samson

Full Card

American Alpha defeated The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championship
Austin Aires defeated Baron Corbin
Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Sami Zayn
Asuka defeated Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship
Finn Balor defeated Samoa Joe

WWE NXT Takeover Dallas Review

American Alpha defeated The Revival for the NXT Tag Team Championship

This was a good overall match. I kept thinking that Kurt Angle should’ve come out to make American Alpha the new Team Angle, but that obviously didn’t happen. The Revival should get a call up to the main roster, I hope. They are crisp, even though there was one botch. This match was an energetic match with a lot of good spots, great tags, and excellent wrestling.

Austin Aires defeated Baron Corbin

I never liked Austin Aires. I think he’s a poor man’s CM Punk, and it showed here. Corbin is bland. This match ended in a roll up, and I didn’t even have a buzz yet. Not a good match. I don’t care about Aires, his attire sucks, and he needs something more to establish him.

Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Sami Zayn

Nakamura is a huge star in Japan. I don’t get it. Sure, he has a few cool points, but I think that Shinsuke Nakamura is OVER RATED. That’s right, he’s overrated. I don’t see the big deal. He had some nice counters but overall Zayn and his match is over rated, even if it did go 20 minutes. It’s a solid match, no doubt, but is it deserving of so much praise I’m hearing? Nope.

Asuka defeated Bayley for the NXT Women’s Championship

Asuka is really good, but this match seemed forced towards the end. Bayley passing out? Really? That’s it? This match was 15 minutes in length, and Asuka made Bayley fall asleep. This should set up a submission match for the title. I loved the dynamics in this match, but I don’t see these two women getting a shot at the main roster, as you may see that the main roster only books hotter women, just saying.

Finn Balor defeated Samoa Joe

The referees kept stopping the match for blood, that took away from the overall action. Samoa Joe is lean, and at his absolute best in NXT. He’s amazing now, compared to “fat” joe in TNA. This match was good, and Balor is a good overall wrestler, but his win shocked me. The match was good overall, and Joe really did a good job putting on the bad ass element. Overall, good match up, with some great spots.

Final Thoughts

Ok, Nakamura is still overrated. Sorry. I don’t see the appeal, especially since I’ve been watching wrestling since 1986 and have seen nearly every single Japanese wrestler come through WWF and WWE and even WCW and guess what? They don’t last. Maybe WWE will do well with him, but then again, remember Suzuki? There’s so many examples of misuse of Asian wrestlers, that I’m not sure WWE will make me care about Nakamura just yet. He’s ok, overrated at this point though.

The rest of the card was good. Good overall wrestling, and I didn’t care about story lines. If you’re a fan of pure wrestling, then of course this is a good show. Was it as stellar as Brooklyn? Maybe not. But it’s a good showing, and it really made me sad not to have friends and family that would go to WrestleMania. I feel even more alone in this world when I see 10,000 fans in a building, and yet I’m here in my living room alone and without friends. Sigh.

ECW Living Dangerously 1998 Results and Review

The Asbury Park Convention Hall in New Jersey was the home for the first pay per view with the name Living Dangerously from ECW. I went back and watched it to review it for this site, and have a few notes to give, and random ideas as well. Now, you can get an edited version of this on the WWE network, but I recommend picking up the official release so that you don’t get it “edited” and watered down. However, it’s really a good effort on the WWE streaming side, so it’s up to you what you want to do.

ECW Living Dangerously Review

Jerry Lynn and Chris Chetti defeated The F.B.I

This was a somewhat forgettable match. It had a few moments, but overall, it was a fast paced opener that didn’t really highlight Lynn’s best. However, it was a good opening match up. Chetti was the highlight, being trained and featured in the ECW brand.

Masato Tanaka defeated Doug Furnas

For those of you young people out there, Furnas was in WWE for a while with a tag partner. He showed up in ECW here after getting thrown into the mix there in WWE’s bolstering tag division. He didn’t do much there, but here he got a lost in under 10 minutes against Tanaka. Not either one of these individuals best match.

Rob Van Dam defeated 2 Cold Scorpio

This by far was the second to best match of the night. RVD really showed up to showcase his skills in this one. 2 Cold Scorpio (Flash Funk in WWE) put on a showcase as well. The two nearly went 30 minutes in this match, and it was never a dull moment. These two could go, and it showed. RVD picks up the win, but it was not easy. Look out for this one, it’ll surprise you how good it truly was.

New Jack and Spike Dudley defeated The Dudley Boyz and Balls Mahoney and Axl Rotten in a 3 way dance

This was a classic hardcore match. Lots of plunder, lots of hard hitting spots, and blood. The highlight was Spike and New Jack jumping off the balcony through tables. That was a classic high spot. However, this too was a bit on the forgettable side.

Remember, You can Buy ECW Living Dangerously 1998 from Amazon Here

Tommy Dreamer defeated Justin Credible

This was an interesting one as Jenna Jameson came out to do a quick interview with Justin Credible. She was top heavy, and didn’t have all the plastic surgery yet. She was hot, I admit it. Anyways, Tommy Dreamer picks up the win with some interference from Beulah (his wife), and it’s a shame that Justin Credible didn’t get more of a fair shake in WWE when he was Aldo Montoya. This was as good as you’d expect, with some great moments, and nice overall offense from Dreamer. Credible bounced around a bit, but in the end, fell to Dreamer and Beulah’s interference.

Bam Bam Bigelow defeated Taz for the ECW Television Championship

This is by far the best match on the card. The reason being is simple, Taz and Bigelow flow quite well in the ring. Bigelow here comes across as seriously powerful, but Taz was able to lift and suplex the crap out of him. Taz truly impressed me when he straight dead lifted Bam Bam over his head, and through a table. This spot alone is worth your time. Dead weight man, you can see Taz about to buckle and then just pulls him over. Furthermore, Taz nearly knocks himself out cold throwing Bigelow off of the stage and hits his head on a guard rail. Epic match.

Sabu defeated The Sandman in a Singapore Cane Match

Not much to say about this one. Sabu got help from RVD. The best part was RVD was dressed as Sabu, so that was a bit of fun. This had a lot of brawling, and Sabu hitting his famous spots. Sandman got drunk, and beat up, that’s about it.

Lance Storm and Al Snow defeated Chris Candido and Shane Douglas

This match started with Lance Storm having a “mystery partner”. What happened next was fun. Sunny came out and said she was the mystery partner. The match moved ok, but it wasn’t until Sunny turned on Storm that things got really fun. The mystery partner was revealed to be Al Snow! The lights went out and the arena was full of foam heads! Things went insane, as there was a hole in the ring from the earlier match. Al Snow pinned Douglas, and this match was done fast. It wasn’t much of a match, but it had a fun finish with the visual of thousands of foam heads.

The number one reason why I recommend getting this DVD is simple, Bam Bam Bigelow versus Taz. One hell of a match, and Taz really put on a show. Dead lifting Bigelow through a table, holy crap, that's all I can say about this one. 2 Cold Scorpio and Van Dam put on a clinic too, but it was the TV title match that takes the cake here.

WWE Battleground The Burial of Owens

Super Cena Does It Again!

The most important aspect of last night’s ppv showcase from WWE was that they buried Owens. Some people are not going to think that, but I do. Owens should’ve won the title. What does he do now? He admits that he can’t beat Cena? Cena is getting older, and there’s no logical reason why he should win. Yet he won again. If you had money on this match, you lost big time. I guess WWE just can’t let their super hero get a loss. It’s the same reason why I hate Superman.

In the end, Kevin Owens was buried by John Cena. Cena hasn't put someone over in a long time, and if he doesn't turn heel, why even watch? Hulk Hogan version 2.0 here. Nice.

Dead Man or OLD MAN

The Undertaker looks old. He looks like he gained some weight, but he was struggling to lift Lesnar. Furthermore, there was a match going on. There wasn’t a finish. No DQ? Nothing? Another illogical step. Where does Rollins go from here? Who will face him? I don’t know, and frankly, I don’t really care any longer.

SHOP WWE MERCH VIA AMAZON HERE, HELP ME PAY THE CABLE BILL!

The rest of the results didn’t matter did they?

Charlotte defeated Brie Bella and Sash Banks (11 minutes by the way)
Bray Wyatt defeated Roman Reigns
The Prime Time Players defeated The New Day
Randy Orton defeated Sheamus
King Barrett defeated R-Truth

Where was Dean Ambrose? The Miz got knocked out by Big Show. Who cared.

This was a lackluster showcase, with a nice return and that’s it. I admittedly was tired. But still, the WWE seems to be illogically booking these things. I don’t want to see half of this anymore, and it’s not that I’m a jaded fan, it’s just beyond the scope of logic sometimes. Then again, I’m seeking logic from WWE? Yeah, I’m an idiot. Good showcase from the workers, but I didn’t get too involved with the match ups aside from the Kevin Owens match, which ended in the wrong manner. Owens now has no weight to anything he says or does.

WWE WrestleMania 31 Results and Review – The Best One In Ages

SRC WWE.COM
Everyone had something to say about WrestleMania this year. Leading up to it, no one really knew what to expect, and everyone had their own opinion on the matter. What no one really talked about was what really went down. With the exception of Taz, no one that I heard online called this ending and therefore I am going to go out and say that I CALLED IT! But since I don’t have a podcast and I don’t have a voice other than this site, I’ll just leave it at that.

Mania came and went, and I invested heavily into this one. I spent 6 hours of my Sunday watching this thing. Was it good? Well here are my thoughts.

WWE Tag Teach Championship Match

Tyson Kidd and Cesaro win a fatal 4 way

This match was good to start things off. The Usos were basically eliminated due to injury. However, there were a lot of moments that were definitely worth looking at. I liked the tandem moves, the frenetic pace, and definitely enjoyed how things moved through. Natalya is hot, I loved her outfit, and couldn’t look away. Tyson Kidd seemed injured at the end, but the win was strong, a good match for me.

Big Show won the Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal

I did not like this match. However, the ending was ok. Mizdow should’ve won, but that’s ok. I liked the match and really enjoyed the eliminations that came through. There’s not much to say here. Great action, lots of cool spots, including the NXT member whose name escapes me.

Daniel Bryan wins the Intercontinental Championship Ladder Match

Bryan took a beating. Ambrose nearly died out there. The whole match was hard hitting. I didn’t peg Bryan to win, but am glad he was able to pull it off. The follow up interview after was awesome, with all the former intercontinental champions congratulating him. I’m hoping he goes down as a fighting champion, as there’s a lot of competition for him. Great match, fun, lots of high spots.

Randy Orton defeated Seth Rollins

I never liked Orton. Until now. He is a machine. Like a well-oiled machine he plowed through Seth Rollins in this one. I loved the RKO out of the air, and just found this to be a great match up. Orton’s win made me think that there was something in the air for later. Orton needs more competition.

Triple H defeated Sting

Sting put on a hell of a show with Triple H. The two got along great in the ring. DX came out to help Trips, then the New World Order came out to help Sting. I loved it. I was expecting Ric Flair to come out, but he didn’t. At the end, Sting went down and was defeated. I loved the match and really thought the two put something good together.

AJ Lee and Paige defeated The Bella Twins

I had to use the bathroom. I heard this was an ok match. I saw a little of it, it doesn’t catch my eye, the divas are getting better though.

John Cena defeated Rusev for the United States Championship

For a moment, I thought Cena was going down. Nope. No matter how much I hate him, he seems to find a way to win. He pulled out some great moves here. I liked the match enough, however, I didn’t want Cena to win. Lana is hot as hell.

The Undertaker defeated Bray Wyatt

Taker was looking old and was selling Wyatt’s move set. I liked the match well enough, but you know, Taker is just looking tired. It was an entertaining match, but it wasn’t grand.

Ronda Rousey is the hottest woman on the planet. I love her. I wish I had a chance to date her. That being said, the Rock came down and challenged Triple H after a promo. Stephanie got in his face, and Ronda came over the rail as Rock brought her out. Then she took on Trips and Stephanie in a great WrestleMania moment!

Seth Rollins Cashes in Money In The Bank To Win The WWE Title

Brock Lesnar is a machine. He tore Roman a new one. He completely blew away Reigns here. Reigns absolutely got beaten down. I was impressed. Lesnar was busted open the hard way. Seth Rollins ran down amidst the beating and cashed in the Money in the Bank. NO ONE CALLED THIS! He then went back and forth with Lesnar a bit before Lesnar caught him in mid-air and then got speared by Reigns. Holy crap I went nuts and after a curb stomp on Reigns, ROLLINS won the title and ran away.

SETH Rollins is the new champ.

Overall WrestleMania thought? This has been the most enjoyable Mania I’ve seen in a long time. I loved it. I can’t wait to see how they follow this up.

WWE Fatal Four Way 2010 Results and Review

It's not often that I get to see live events, but by some miracle of technology, I was able to get this one and review it for all 2 of you readers out there.

The set is really cool, with a giant 4 above the titan-tron, lit up, and in red, quite the cool entrance. The arena looked packed, or at least nearly full, but that's just how it came across.

Vince McMahon showed up and was on the microphone. He said that Bret Hart will not be on the show tonight because the NXT guys beat him up on Raw.

Drew McIntyre came out and shook McMahon's hand, and that was the end of that. McMahon was only there to announce that Hart would not be there tonight. I wonder if that means that NXT rookies will not get an answer.

McIntyre came out at the prompting of Drew McIntyre. Drew then berated Teddy Long with insults, as Teddy was forced to watch the next match.

Kofi Kingston defeated Drew McIntyre

Kofi started this match with lots of kicks, but Drew was able to get control after the initial moments. Kofi was on tonight, he had some very cool and smooth counters to Drew's offense, which were quite cool to see live. His mid-rope dive to the outside was even on key, and different than the Botchamania videos I've seen him featured in.

Drew first focused on Kofi's Leg, then he started working on his arm. It seemed odd that you would want to work on Kofi's arm, considering he has a lot of high flying moves that don't require his arm at all, except in landing. Kofi managed a comeback and despite his arm “hurting” he was able to do a plethora of moves, including sunset flip pinfall attempts, cross body blocks, drop kicks and more. At one point he did acknowledge his arm for a moment, but it didn't matter, he had already shown that the arm wasn't a factor. Don't really believe me? Consider that around the 22 minute mark of the show, Kofi was able to do a “tornado DDT” off the ropes landing on his “injured” arm and was fine, with no showcase of pain, oh well. Drew hit a nice power bomb for a near fall, and this match, despite being a little slow at times, there were some big moves!

Kofi hit the SOS and despite it being near picture-perfect, Drew McIntyre kicked out and this match was getting interesting. The REF bump opened up this match to outside interference. Drew hit his Future Shock DDT, but the Referee was knocked out so he went outside and threw in Teddy Long and told him to make the 3 count. Drew then ripped the shirt off the ref, told Teddy Long to put it on, and count the 3!!!

Teddy went in to count the 3 but after 2 his arm stopped! That's right, Teddy STOPPED! He couldn't give in to the 3!!! I marked out huge!

Matt Hardy ran into the match from the stands, then Trouble In Paradise was hit, and Kofi retains his title! Teddy Long had no problem counting the 3, and the crowd went completely nuts for this one, and I did too. Despite the obvious flaws in the match, Kofi's lackluster acting skills, and a couple of obvious botches, the match was entertaining and a good opener to get the crowd going.

Justin Roberts is a chump, dude got Daniel Bryan fired...jerk.

Alicia Fox defeated Eve Torres & Maryse & Gail Kim to win the Diva's title in a fatal four way match

I actually liked this match. It had a few botches and misses, but there were some sick moves. The most memorable of them were from Eve and Gail Kim. Gail Kim's top rope dropkicks got this thing going quite well for her, but it was Eve that wowed the crowd, even if her top rope moonsault looked painful and will most likely end up being in Botchamania down the line. Alicia won after Eve put it all on the line with a sick dive off the top (moonsault) and this match made a new champion. The divas can string together watchable matches, it's just not often, that's for sure.

Evan Bourne defeated Chris Jericho

This match was a rematch from Raw, and it featured a lot of the same action. The only difference here was that Jericho seemed poised to actually take out the younger star. Jericho was in control a lot of the time, and he was countering a lot. Jericho was in tune with everything that Bourne was going to throw at him, and it was interesting to see a veteran actually counter a younger stars move set. Towards the end, after Jericho blocking Evan Bourne's top rope moves on three consecutive occasions, the shooting star press (Air Bourne) hit with full engines on Jericho! This match was quite good, fast paced, slow where it needed to be, and Jericho loses. I can not express how amazing the Shooting Star press looks when done with the heights that Evan Bourne does it. Move over Billy Kidman, Evan Bourne has re-invented how you do the shooting star press.

On a side note, Jericho's losing record isn't crazy. There's two things that you need to remember as a sports fan and a wrestling fan.

1. People love streaks. Wins or losses, all sports fans love streaks. It's just how it is. Famous streaks in wrestling? How about the Goldberg win streak? It helped WCW conquer the ratings, even in light of the now. Need another streak? Consider Mikey Whipwreck's loss streak that lasted quite a while until he won with Cactus Jack in ECW. His impact was so large that he eventually made it to the big leagues, WCW cruiser weight division and put on a show with kidman at Uncensored.

2. Jericho doesn't need to win to be over.
Jericho can lose forever, but he'll still get the reaction that he wants. Even if he turns face, the fans will go with him. Of all the WWE superstars he's the only one that is jobbing on a consistent basis, passing the torch with each guy. Much like Dean Malenko, and others in WCW, he's letting younger stars take the ball. Too bad HHH isn't doing this...well...except for giving Sheamus the rub...but whatever.

Rey Mysterio defeated Jack Swagger, CM Punk, and Big Show in a Fatal Fourway for the World Heavyweight Championship

This match was fast paced, and featured spots from each wrestler. It took a while to set up just two guys in ring, but after it did, things were speeding up and the high spots were going through. It was quite good at moments, even though it seemed telegraphed that Mysterio would win the match up. Swagger's reign was weak, so when Mysterio his the 619 on him towards the end of the match, I knew it was going to end in a favorable manner for the little guy. Other than Mysterio's title win, this match was forgettable. This match just seemed wasted for some reason, I felt that it was just another Smackdown match up, rather than a ppv caliber match.

The Miz came out doing the What's Up rap with his own Lyrics, and it appeared that his mic didn't work at the end, and it was interesting to see...even though I didn't care. I feel like this match was already done, and it was, so when it came time for it, I was already tired of the ppv.

The Miz defeated R Truth in a United States Championship Match

This match was given some time, and I can't believe that I'm saying this...The Miz is actually quite good. Truth fought hard and it seemed like he was going to get the title again, but it was Miz that turned this match into a win with a nice counter pin. There were some hard hitting moments, with both men going for big moves, but when the match was over, it was a pinfall counter that won Miz the match up. I didn't hate the match, but I didn't think it was all that great either.

The Hart Dynasty defeated The USOS

This six man tag was all over the place. It had a lot of action, with both teams putting on watchable efforts. The USOS, I thought, would get the one up, but it never happened. The Harts ended up winning this one, even though it was Natalya that got the pinfall. The match had a lot of action, and some nice high flying points, but I don't see this feud having a lot of legs. I'm already tired of the feud, if you can call it that. This match didn't even get the crowd going when The Harts won, so that's that.

Sheamus defeated John Cena & Edge & Randy Orton in the WWE Championship Match

The WWE championship match didn't exactly have me too thrilled on paper. I didn't care about all the components to the match up. The match had your standard near falls, and big moves. It boiled down to two wrestlers in ring at a time, with big moves taking out several components at different points. Cena wasn't much of a factor at times, which was definitely nice to see, but that didn't mean he would be gone the whole time. Orton was all over this match, and you could tell that they were being careful with his shoulder at times.

I thought for sure Edge had this thing won with a Spear attempt on Cena, only to have Super Cena emerge and get some “Vintage” John Cena moves. The match broke down with Orton and Sheamus getting involved in ring. After some quick moves, and counters, Super Cena once again got control and locked in an STF on Edge, and this thing looked all but over until Sheamus ran in and tried to steal the match.

Sheamus used the ref as a weapon at one point, or at least to counter Cena's offense, and it looked like the winner was going to be Sheamus, but it wasn't in the cards. I can't stress enough that this match was definitely back and forth, and didn't really look to let any one competitor get the most of anything, except for Cena jumping up and getting hyped now and then.

Backstage the NXT guys jumped some guys that were watching a monitor set up. Meanwhile, Michael Cole got all scared and left the announce table. The NXT rookies ran into the ring and attacked! I marked out huge for this stuff, I can't help it. The invasion interrupted the match up, before any clear winner was taking advantage. After the NXT guys nearly killed Cena, Sheamus jumped in and got the quick pinfall victory and is the NEW WWE CHAMPION! That's right, Sheamus ran in, pinned Cena and ran off out in the crowd, leaving Cena to get beat up by the NXT guys.

As the NXT guys ran off, they left Edge, Orton, and Cena at the ring. Notice that this time NO ONE came to save anyone from the NXT beat down. The ppv ended with all men in the ring beat up, and the crowd chanting FATAL FOUR WAY, and that was that. Not a bad ppv ending, not a great one either, but I'm glad I saw it.

The invasion Angle continues.

TNA Against All Odds 2010 Review

The Pope D’Angelo Dinero defeated Desmond Wolfe

The Pope was impressive, but that doesn’t mean that Desmond Wolfe wasn’t on top of his game. This match was actually really good and Wolfe impressed me more than anytime I’ve seen on impact thus far. I really enjoyed how the two went back and forth to create a good overall pace. It was never too fast, never too slow, and the psychology of the moments were more along the lines of a technical masterpiece than anything else. I wish that the wrestling world was always this good. The Pope is solid, it’s amazing that WWE let this guy go, because his timing and skills are really good, and the crowd loves it. The Dinero Express was awesome, and Wolfe couldn’t overcome the powers of the Pope. The Pope advances in the 8 card stud tournament in a good overall opening to the ppv. The Pope and Wolfe both had great moments. The superplex from Wolfe was great, the Pope leap frogging Desmond and hitting a sick flying, twisting forearm was just brilliant; one of the best matches I’ve seen so far this year…yeah…I know, rare.

Ric Flair was hunting down Bischoff and tell him he had a problem with the referee for tonight’s main event.

Matt Morgan defeated Hernandez

The tag team champions had to face each other in the 8 card stud tournament, and I was surprised that management didn’t make a bigger deal about it. Then again, this isn’t wwe, and they aren’t going to split them just yet, I think. These guys do compliment each other’s style, when they are tagging I matches, but not against each other. Super Mex looked to have dislocated his shoulder on a bump to the ramp, Morgan couldn’t catch Hernandez, and this match just had botches and problems left and right. Hernandez eventually lost this match with Matt Morgan pulling the tights and putting this match out of its misery. The first match was good, this one sucked.

Mr. Anderson defeated Kurt Angle

Far from a four star match up, this one was actually quite good in a potential feud that could last a long time. Mr. Anderson was all heel in this match, and while Angle had some highlights and had Anderson reeling, Anderson never looked like he was going to lose. Angle got busted open with his own medal and after hitting an exposed corner got hit with the mic check, and lost to the rising star Mr. Anderson. It was a standard match that wasn’t half bad. I liked it for the traditional style, and Angle losing after talking such big stuff before the match was good overall.

Abyss defeated Mick Foley

Foley and Abyss barely put on a match worth mentioning. It was an extreme rules match and it was just terrible. Foley is way past his prime and really looked lethargic overall. I was tired, and Abyss wins. He was sad after the match.

The Nasty Boys defeated Team 3D

This was one poor showing. I’m not as hateful on the Nasty Boys because I’ve seen them have epic matches in NWA and WCW but this was not a young Nasty Boys. This was a terrible fat nasty Boys and a fat Team 3d. Slow moving, terrible moments, just a sad display, I was bored and hated it. This sucked. Face it, it sucked, I hope this is all over. The feud that is…man did the ppv take a nose dive. Oh and Jimmy Hart showed up to help the Nasty Boys win...same finish as when they beat the hart foundation for the titles.

The Pope D’Angelo Dinero defeated Matt Morgan

This was an interesting match that saw The Pope hitting much technical wrestling on a much bigger Matt Morgan and cutting him down to size. The Pope was like a buzz saw in this match up, he kept hitting Morgan in the legs, and moving out of the way at key points, eventually getting the win. Morgan was no slouch though, he hit some hard shots too.

Mr. Anderson defeated Abyss

Anderson has beaten Abyss before, so this rematch definitely threw some doubt in the airs as to whether or not he can advance. Anderson put on another show of talent, but we all knew he had more to give than that one back suplex that nearly injured Randy Orton. Abyss sucks right now, and while he had some shots on Anderson, Anderson won the match up. The whole “ANDERSON” thing is great in promo’s, just fyi. Abyss didn’t look like he was going to win, although it wasn’t a walk in the park for Anderson either.

Aj Styles defeated Samoa Joe

This match wasn’t half bad, Samoa Joe threw a lot of offense at Aj, and Styles still managed to hit some major hits. Joe looked like he was going to win but Flair pulled him out before he could win the match and Styles capitalized after the fact, Styles hit the Styles clash and Bischoff had no choice but to count the three, and it was all over. This wasn’t a four star classic, but it wasn’t terrible at all. Joe threw up a good effort and styles is always interesting to watch at a ppv.

Scott Hall and Six Pack attacked The Pope backstage before his match with Anderson.

The finals of the 8 card stud tournament was the main event, and it featured two of the top up and comers in TNA. It would be interesting to see who would come out on top.

The Pope D’Angelo Dinero defeated Mr. Anderson

The Pope was visibly winded and hurt after the attack and Anderson was not letting up at all. Anderson met The Pope on the ramp and was just attacking straight forward. Anderson was stunned with how much life The Pope managed to create towards the middle of the match up. This match was long and really was methodically paced. Anderson had The Pope defeated at most steps in this match up and I thought it was going to be all over several times. The crowd had the wind knocked out of their sails as Anderson hit the mic check, but when The Pope kicked out, all bets were off. Anderson hit a rolling finisher, but missed a dive off the top and The Pope Express ended this match up, and the Pope was left standing at the end of the night. Anderson was out cold.

TNA Destination X 2009 Results and Review Sting Retains

What’s this? A ppv review from your pal sir j? Yeah, once again I’ve managed to scrape up a few dimes together to watch this piece of crap we call tna ppv. I am barely scraping by, so I had to save a few bucks to get this, so I hope that you, the reader, can appreciate my tone and my review here, as I’m doing it for the love of the game, not for money. I wish I had more of both, that’s for sure.

The show opened up in black and white with clips from the public domain of recession. It also showed some previous things that went down on TNA Impact the last few weeks. Overall not a great intro, and I could do without hearing Hoobastank every five seconds. Seriously, why did Hoobastank get picked? They suck, this intro sucks, and boy am not looking forward to more tna ppv’s…unless they change their booking completely.

Taylor Wilde, Roxxi, and The Governor defeated The Beautiful People & Madison Rayne

The Governor started this match, even though no one cares about Sarah Palin any longer. Oh well, here we go, the start of this match up, nothing too insane here, just your average start. The Governor is out there barefoot, and it’s interesting to see, I don’t think there are a lot of wrestlers out there without their boots. The match then moved forward from that point with the good guys (I should say gals) in full control. I also must note that Don West is out there with Mike Tenay, though he still sucks if you ask me; and I know you didn’t. The match was fast paced, a lot of distracting the ref here and there, which is interesting for sure. The match went into a melee, and things got crazy outside, leaving Taylor Wilde inside to get the pinfall after a bridge suplex. This match was ok at best, it seemed rushed at the end, and before things could settle, we went to the backstage area. TNA did a terrible job with the knockout match up, it was lame; oh well.

*note The Brutus Magnus graphic was premature, so if you were quick, you caught it.

**note again, out came a Navy Officer to be the guest ring announcer.

Brutus Magnus defeated Eric Young

Eric Young will face off against Brutus, and why not? The kid is on a minor roll, with that big win on Thursday against some fat dude that the Main Event Mafia found. Brutus Magnus didn’t catch Eric Young off of a moonsault from the corner, and the crowd made the two wrestlers eat it, and it showed that Magnus is not quite ready for the ppv world. He’s not that good, face it, I’m not sure why they are trying to make this star, as I don’t really like him, and while there are some moments of glory, he’s just not there yet, at least in my opinion. Magnus was not half bad with that top rope finisher, which was insane, if you saw it. It was a fireman’s carry to jump off the top rope, almost like death valley driver in a way. Good overall ending, but a terrible match up if you ask me. Once again it seemed rushed.

Sheik Abdul Bashir came out and just randomly yelled about how TNA is racist for not hiring him to wrestle. Jim Cornette came out to yell at Bashir to tell him that no one likes him, and that’s why he’s not on the ppv. He then had that Naval Officer come into the ring (Cornette called him up). The naval dude starts to sing “God Bless America”. Bashir has no choice but to leave, seemingly disgusted. This is a dumb angle, and I’m not sure why the TNA writers keep trying to push this, they don’t need it.

Matt Morgan defeated Abyss in a 10,000 Tacks Match

This match started out fast, with both men throwing haymakers, and pushing forth a great amount of effort. Of course, this thing had to slow down, because it wasn’t going to be a progressive match with the amount of brutality that these two started out with. Matt Morgan and Abyss fought to the ramp entrance, with Morgan hitting the Carbon Footprint right into the tacks. It was a wicked fall, and that was the end of the match up.

ODB had some stupid getting a date contest, it was dumb. Some dude named Deter or something, it was stupid, this is the dumbest thing I’ve seen on tna in a long time.

Awesome Kong defeated Sojourner Bolt in a TNA Knockouts Title Match

This match had a good opening, with Bolt sending every offensive move she had early on, but it was Kong who pushed her weight around and began to dominate with heavy moves that gave her a lot of breathing room and like a bigger wrestler, she just methodically worked over Bolt, causing a lot of strain. Things took a slight turn when Kong missed a huge splash off the top rope, causing Bolt to get a second chance in this match up. She went for quick pins, and tight rolls ups, but couldn’t score the three count. Bolt got caught trying a Hurricanrana which proved to be the end of her match up with Awesome Kong dropping her on the back of her neck and winning the match; another successful defense.

Samoa Joe vs. Scott Steiner ended in a no contest

Samoa Joe came in and just started a fist fight with Scott Steiner. Nothing else, just a straight fist fight, as he ran in and started off fighting, busting open Scott Steiner immediately. This match was the same match we saw with Edge and Matt Hardy when Hardy came back from being fired. Steiner got busted open, Joe beat up the ref, the match was thrown out, I guess Scott Steiner kind of wins via dq, right? I don’t know.

Aj Styles defeated Booker T in a Legends Championship Match

This match started off a little slower than the previous matches, and rightfully so. Booker To isolated Aj’s Arm for a good part of this match up, creating a little space between him and the high flyer. Aj did mnage to get a few high spots in, but Booker was definitely putting the rest holds on this thing and offering a more technically sound match up. The two guys looked evenly matched at the midway of this match, but Booker seemed to be one step ahead of Aj Styles, seriously pushing the limits of the former heavyweight champion. Aj Styles was wobbly at this point, creating doubt in many people’s minds as to whether or not he can really beat the big man. Booker and Aj had perfect timing with some high spot reversals, at one point Booker caught Aj coming off the top rope, and it was just perfect timing. The Styles Clash got the better of Booker T and things finally got good for Aj Styles as he is the new Legends Champion!

Backstage, apparently Samoa Joe murdered Scott Steiner? He had that stupid looking knife of his full of blood. Nice huh? Great job TNA writers, allude to the fact that Joe stabbed Steiner, great writing, great stupid writing! I hate Tna sometimes.

Team 3-D defeated Beer Money via count out in a TNA Tag Team Championship match

Team 3-D was the odds on favorite here, as there was no way that TNA would fire one of their veteran tag teams, leaving them without 2 solid workers. It’s not like the WWE would want another run of Team 3-d, considering that both guys are not as slim and beefed up as they were in WWE. Beer Money were not doing well early on in this match, Devon had things going quite well in the onset of this match up. Team 3-D had a lo of good moments in this match up, and Beer Money were definitely getting out wrestled on more than one occasion in this match up. The comedy spots were a bit too much, which was really weird. The match was thrown out, when Beer Money brought a chair in and Team 3-D wins, via disqualification…

Then the match got restarted and Beer Money walked away with a ten count. This match sucked, well the ending sucked. Don West helped a little, and even after Jim Cornette tried to chase down Beer Money, Team 3-D came to Don West and told him to watch his back! Team 3-D got screwed, and this was boring at the end.

Suicide defeated Consequences Creed, Jay Lethal, and The Motor City Machine Guns in a destination x match for the x division championship

This match opened up like it should have, straight forward, fast paced action. The Motor City Machine Guns had the advantage going into this match up, especially since their always in the ring together as a team. It seemed like they were set to win this, considering this match started at 7 pm pst. Obviously there were some high spots, the spots ranged from going outside of the ring to simple top rope action. Suicide was not doing all that well, at least not early on, it seemed that anything he wanted to do was thwarted by someone in the ring. The match up quickly spilled to the outside and Suicide managed a rolling thunder move onto four of his competitors, making for a good overall replay high spot. By the time it was time to do the super electric chair/powerbomb spot, I got tired of this match. Seriously, these matches are just spot fests and there’s very little psychology to them. I know we’re dealing with a match that was supposed to magnify the x-division, but this is getting ridiculous. I guess I’m starting to dislike spot fests, it just seems so obvious to me, a little too obvious. After all the whining I did about this match, it did have a cool ending. Suicide jumped off the top of a pillar onto the middle of the destination x set up, and knocked all competitors off, to win the x-division championship!

Sting defeated Kurt Angle in a World Heavyweight Championship Match

Finally, the main event, and this one started with neither man truly getting the edge. Kurt Angle and Sting started with heavy blows, meanwhile Sting kept knocking Kurt Angle out of the ring at every chance he could. The fight then spilled out to the floor and we finally had a good match going. After a short fight on the floor, we got the rest holds, with Angle trying to hold down Sting in order to wear him out. I really liked the midway point of this match when both men went for the double cross body block. That was definitely something you’d see in the mid 90’s era main event. I can’t appreciate the constant rest holds by Angle. I know that it worked for a lot of technical wrestlers, but those were in combination with their finishing moves. It seems like Angle just wants to slow things down so he can get the Angle Slam. Which he got onto Sting for a two count! Sting missed a Stinger splash, which got him an Angle Slam for his trouble. Kurt’s Moonsault is dead on accurate still, but he couldn’t put Sting away with that either. The Rolling German Suplex’s have to be hurting Angle’s neck, and they were promptly turned into a Scorpion Death Drop, prompting another two count. Double J, for all the feuding he has done, actually didn’t get involved too much, until he got hit with a HUGE lariat from Angle on accident. This prompted Mick Foley to jump in the ring, meanwhile Sting had the Scorpion Death Lock on a tapping Angle. Angle managed to get back into it, meanwhile Jeff Jarrett was still out, but then when Foley failed to count to three Angle kicked him in the nuts! This was rad, Angle finally snapped and he had Jarrett and Foley both knocked out cold! Foley got in the mix and accidentally hit Sting with a Steel Chair! Things were starting to look like Summerslam 1997 all over again! As Angle couldn’t put away Sting, he kept getting angry at Jarrett and started to slap him around a little. That prompted Sting to get the upper hand with a little help from Double J and it was all over! That’s right, Sting once again defeats Kurt Angle and is still the TNA World Heavyweight Champion.

This ppv sucked. This final match wasn’t all that great, and I can’t believe that the TNA ppv crew cost me another forty bucks or so. I hate these guys sometimes. Sting, come on man, Angle? Come on dude…seriously? TNA needs to change things up dramatically.

WWE Summerslam 2008 Review and Results

One of my favorite times of year is summer because Summerslam is going to be a huge event. It’s like the second best ppv for wrestling, and this time around we definitely saw a great one, well, considering that I was excited for it. Here are the WWE Summerslam 2008 Results and a full review of how it all went down, on the hottest night of the summer!

MVP defeated Jeff Hardy

This match lived up to what I believe was a good match up. MVP isolated Jeff Hardy’s leg and really grounded Hardy for a good portion of this match up. There was a lot of rest holds to ground Hardy’s leg and make sure he wasn’t going to jump up and win this one. Hardy turned things around here and there, but MVP put on a great show, and really knew how to make this one interesting. Hardy bumped like a pro, and MVP was really convincing in this match. I was really excited the about the way this match turned out. MVP seemed to counter every Hardy move, and for once, I didn’t believe that Hardy was treating MVP to another squash match where he easily wins with all his high flying moves. Hardy really worked well with MVP and I wasn’t sure which way the match was going to go. A great opener, proving that these two deserve much higher on the crowd than what they got; Shelton Benjamin gave MVP the assist, and Hardy loses this one to MVP nearly clean. MVP dropped hardy with that drive by kick, and wins this one. Shelton Benjamin on the outside doesn’t get acknowledgement from MVP.

Maria Interviews Santino and Beth Phoenix:

Santino is gold on the mic! This stuff is what greatness is made of, the mic skills are incredible, and the timing is perfect. I wonder if he’s going off a script or if he’s just ad-libbing the whole thing? Maria has no charisma here, and is outshined by Santino at every moment.

Santino & Beth Phoenix defeated Kofi Kingston & Mickie James
Winner Takes All Women’s Champoinship and Intercontinental Championship Match

This definitely had comedy written all over it. Santino had a few comedic spots with Beth, and even got involved with wrestling Mickie James, and the comedy kept rolling through. Kofi Kingston didn’t do a whole lot in this match up, and really was a non factor in the whole thing. Mickie James loses this one for her team, although she did knock out Santino with a vicious DDT, but Beth Phoenix came in and dropped Mickie James on her face, with a great maneuver and the Glamazon and Santino won the match up. Santino takes the Intercontinental championship, Phoenix takes the women’s championship, and the two are winners. This match was great, but it didn’t seem quite long enough for my tastes. I thought it was cool, and it didn’t really tax Santino, who has limited skills, and I enjoyed it. Mickie James’ thong was showing for a little bit, so that was exciting! Phoenix’s finisher is amazing, she is really impressive in ring. Mickie James has improved a lot as well. I hope the WWE gets a few more women like this, because they can really grow their women’s division if they continue to wrestle well. Santino is hilarious, this win shouldn’t surprise anyone, a great quick match up to end this second match.

Shawn Michaels In Ring Update Segment:

Shawn Michaels brought his wife down to ringside, and she’s hot! Ok, not like a “diva” hot, but like a good looking mom type…does that make sense? Maybe. Shawn Michaels says that his doctor has recommend him to stay away, and that things would not be good if he continued. Shawn Michaels decides to walk away from the WWE and he’s basically retiring. Is this true? Shawn Michaels retires at Summerslam 2008 , that’s right, he gives a long winded speech about he’s going to walk away and that he quits, and of course I’m not sure if he’s legitimately quitting. This could be a work, a shoot, a swerve, I’m not sure, but he looked legit about walking away. He doesn’t look so great, but if he’s going to quit, oh well. He had a great run.

Chris Jericho comes out and really shakes things up. I guess I was really naïve about this segment, and didn’t expect that Chris Jericho was going to come out and talk to Shawn Michaels. I was definitely surprised to see Jericho out there, and wasn’t one hundred percent sure that this storyline was going to continue. Jericho definitely heels it up here, and wanted Shawn Michaels to admit that Jericho has retired Shawn Michaels. Shawn Michaels turns to walk away from Chris Jericho and go home, but Michaels ducks and Jericho socks Shawn Michaels wife in the face! No jokes people, Jericho signed his death warrant with a right hand to the face of Michaels’ wife, dang. Jericho walks away to extreme heat, and Michaels is left attending to his wife.

This segment was insane, this has to build some insane heat. I don’t know how people are going to take this segment. Jericho basically hit a woman in the face, literally, figuratively, whatever. She takes a solid right hand to the face, and whether or not you’re a wrestling fan or not, a Woman gets hit in the face by a man, and it is replayed in slow motion. Well, for those of you that like me, know wrestling is fake, we’ll all just hope for a Jericho vs. HBK match in an unsanctioned street fight, like they used to do it. Jericho is going to have hell to pay for this one, and it came across really solid, it almost looked like it wasn’t even accidental, as Jericho really had time to orchestrate that right hand. He showed no remorse, wow….what a heat inducing moment. I don’t know if Shawn Michaels is really going to retire now, but this was horrible. I can’t believe it….death to Chris Jericho!

Immediately after this match we have a commercial break. That’s right, we pay 39.95 to get a commercial break to a PPV? What a load of crap. I still want to see Street Kings, but come on! Do we really need a commercial break during a ppv event? That was lame.

Matt Hardy defeated Mark Henry in the ECW Championship Match via DQ

This match didn’t even have a chance to unhinge. This match broke down in a matter of moments. This was disappointing to say the least. Hardy hits the Twist of Fate and and looks like he’s going to win, but Tony Atlas causes the disqualification. Matt Hardy then attacks Atlas, Jeff Hardy runs through and helps out. The team brawls outside, and beats down Mark Henry, but of course it’s too little too late. The championship doesn’t change hands, and this match is over way too soon. What a pay day for Matt Hardy, he was out there for what? Fifteen minutes? That’s lame.

CM Punk defeated JBL in the World Heavyweight Championship Match

The crowd was firmly behind CM Punk in this one, and JBL really got a lot of boo’s. I predicted the standard Punk match, always trying to battle back, but there was a little bit of variation. I definitely wanted to see this one, and am glad we didn’t have to wait too long for it to happen! The crowd was red hot for this one, and PUNK chants were breaking out left and right. Punk really got a lot of offense in throughout the match, and JBL really worked well with Punk. While, I don’t think Punk looked extremely strong, he had enough of a move set to make JBL’s limited set look good. JBL really started to look frustrated towards the end of the match, as Punk would keep coming back after a lot of heavy moves. JBL dropped Punk off the second rope onto his head several times, and there was even a collision where Punk and JBL collided splitting punk’s skull wide open. While there wasn’t a lot of blood, CM Punk managed to get his bearings together long enough for the GTS on JBL for the clean win. Punk’s skull was really split open, and I’m surprised that the announcers really didn’t talk about it much. JBL loses this one clean to Punk, and it was definitely impressive. You gotta see JBL fall on Punk’s skull, it was sick. Punk had to be legitimately knocked out for a second or two. These types of falls are what concussions are made of, but Punk seemed to be alright after the match up. JBL has nothing to say any longer, Punk wins clean!

Triple H defeated The Great Khali in the WWE Championship Match

Now this is one of the ones that I was waiting for with great expectations. I have been talking all week about how I wanted the Great Khali to beat the crap out of Triple H and win this match up. Khali definitely looked to be out matched in this one, and rightfully so, Khali is HUGE. Khali threw Triple H around like a rag doll for the most part and it really looked bad. Triple H reminded me a lot of Hulk Hogan’s matches as he was getting beat up a lot. He was getting manhandled completely and Triple H was evoking the crowds emotions as they were getting into it. Khali was superior in this match, and I haven’t always been a big fan of his matches, but he’s really turning it on now. It could be that Triple H is doing something to push this match or something, but he’s really coming into his own here. Triple H did get a bit of offense in, so it wasn’t just the khali show, but it was all Khali for a good portion of this match. Shades of Andre The Giant was seen in this match up when Khali got stuck in the ropes, and I couldn’t help but remember Jake The Snake Roberts vs. Andre at Wrestlemania V, but it was short lived as Khali got out fast. I was actually beginning to think that Triple H was injured as he took a nasty fall to the outside of the ring, but apparently wasn’t too bad to drop out of the match. Triple H miraculously recovers, ala Hulk Hogan, and delivers the pedigree on Khali for the clean victory. This was interesting, but I don’t want to see much more matches like this. I’m no longer a little kid, so I don’t want to see more Hulk Hogan era wrestling main events, but this was satisfying somehow. I really wanted Triple H to lose, but apparently he has more stroke than my petty wishes.

Batista defeated John Cena

I’m not sure where the WWE was going with this match up, but the crowd was definitely behind both guys. This is interesting to say the least. The match wasn’t exactly a technical classic, but it was good for what it was. These two big guys are just in the power move category, rather than treading onto Bret Hart technical matches. There was a lot of standard, basic, moves, but they were done with such power, that one could forgive them for doing so. I was impressed with the amount of control the two guys had in this match up, and the crowd seemed really into it, so in turn, I was really into it. There was a lot of near falls, even in the middle of the match. The ending was definitely great, as Cena got caught in mid air into a Batista bomb, then afterwards, a second Batista bomb for the clean victory. Batista defeated John Cena with a batista bomb, and that’s all that matters. This match was a lot better than I could have hoped for, and both men put everything forward, Batista though, wins this match up. Wow. What an event.

Undertaker defeated Edge in a Hell in the Cell Match

Speculation had Mick Foley coming through and costing Edge the match. However, early on the reports on the internet were saying that Foley wasn’t going to be showing up this night, and probably won’t end up continuing his commentating job, due in large part to his dislike of getting yelled at by Vince McMahon on a constant basis. However, this was the match of the night. Everyone was waiting for this one, and I personally was wondering how Undertaker would be in this match up, as he had been resting for a good two or three months at a time.

The Undertaker really put on a clinic in this match, proving once again that there’s still fuel left in the tank of the dead man. Edge put on the best he could, and he fought off Undertaker through a lot of different stages, including all his usual spots. Edge even speared the Undertaker through the side of the cell, and out to the floor. Edge took out Undertaker through the announce table, then things started to really go to the wall. Edge eventually got tossed off the top rope through two tables, then was given a concierto, then the Tombstone piledriver for the win. Undertaker wins clean, after dismantling Edge on ever corner of the ring. The Undertaker then walks away, but comes back to the ring!

Post match, Undertaker sets up Edge on a ladder, then choke slams Edge off the top of a ladder and THROUGH THE RING! Edge definitely got the better of this match up, and Edge is completely done! After Edge goes through the ring, Fire consumes the hole in which he was thrown into. Edge basically gets thrown into HELL! This was awesome!

Overall a great show, and I definitely enjoyed it. The whole thing was great, I didn’t really get bored like I did during Wrestlemania this year, and this last match up was great. Good job WWE on a good ppv! I'm sure there are going to be a lot of people that didn't like this one, but come, this wasn't as bad as other ppv this year. Seriously, this was great.

This show was brought to you by a couple of things. WWE's One Night Stand on dvd, and of course the Summerslam Box Set featuring 20 discs of Summerslam action. If you want to help me out with paying for this ppv, then pick yourself something up from our amazon links. Thanks again for reading, and what a Summerslam we had this year!

One Night Stand 2008 Results

The night started with Jeff Hardy and Umaga fighting their way out to the outside of the building. The match was fast paced, and full of action, and high spots. However, the ending was so fake, it stunk of stupidity. In the end, Hardy climbed up a truck and dove off, and the announcers claimed it was to the concrete floor. However, in the shot of the win, you could clearly see a mattress in the background, that most likely was moved out of the way.

Hardy defeats Umaga in this opener.

The Singapore Cane match happened next, I think, and everyone ganged up on Big SHow. Things were looking good until Big SHow accidently messed up his eye, and got really mad. He came back and got every singapore cane found in the building, and started to break them on his opponents. Big Show decidely wins this one, and to make it an exclamation point, he smashed through Tommy "The JObber" Dreamer.

Big Show wins this one.

JBL and John Cena fought in what was a cop out of a match. The two were looking alright, but it was a real brawl, and then Cena out of nowhere, gets a chain and onto the STFU where JBL starts spitting up blood to lose the match.

John Cena beats JBL in this one.

Melina put on on heck of a fight against Beth Phoenix and I was a believer for once, but it was not to be had as Phoneix polished off Melina in the end with a painful submission that had her in a pretzel.

Beth Phoenix wins this one, but not without a big fight.

Batista and Shawn Michaels nearly killed each other. Batista put some finishing touches on hurting Shawn Michaels, and everytime he was going to put away HBK; Y2J came out to get in more punishment.

Batista edges out HBK in this match up.

Randy Orton was on his way to another victory, in my book, but stopped short when HHH threw him over the top rope and onto his shoulder. It was painfully obvious that Orton had broken his collar bone or at least his shoulder on a nasty fall outside of the ring. It was so bad that the ending was fudged and HHH hit Orton with the sledge hammer for the win. Afterwards, WWE officials helped get Orton to the back who was nearly in tears.

HHH defeats Randy Orton, thanks to an injury for Orton.

IN the main event Edge fell through a ladder, through two tables, and in the end...it was Undertaker who couldn't overcome the numbers game and fell 20 feet through 4 tables to end his chase for the world title by losing to Edge and 4 other men. I've never seen The Undertaker take a bump like this, 20 feet off of a ladder through 3 1/2 tables to lose the match

Edge defeats the Undertaker, in a hell of a match up.

What an event! I loved this one better than Wrestlemania!

Shane McMahon Gets Extreme

The most extreme thing about last night's ECW ppv was Shane McMahon. That's not saying a whole lot since he's been doing the same major moves for a long time. However, no matter how he does it, he manages to exhibit a sense of wrestling ability that doesn't come to every wrestler out there.

The rest of the night featured a lot of half worked matches, and random interjections from wrestlers that are NOT on the ECW roster!

Even the ladder match failed to be extreme, and this is just an example of how bad ECW has gotten.

One major thing that needs improvement is the variety of the show. ECW was known for showcasing the cruiserweights, and not all about blood and guts. It seems that the WWE has took their existing product and called it ECW and now that RVD was completely punked on PPV this is the beginning of the unraveling of the ECW brand...you just wait and see.
