ECW Cyberslam 1996 Results and Review

ECW Cyberslam 1996 VHS Cover Art
I’m going to be reviewing more and more older wrestling since I am paying for the WWE Network. Today, we go back to 1996. In that year, I was only 13 years old, and I was starting to garner a giant VHS wrestling collection. I had nearly every WWF event either live from the original PPV recording, or from purchases I made at video stores. I didn’t have a lot of ECW events, so I didn’t get to see this one until recently. I can tell you that the original DVD and VHS tapes are way better than the WWE Network stuff because they have to edit out the music, and some of the obscene things that are in the event. However, you’re going to still see a lot of it, and well, here we go, a review of the event that occurred on February 17, 1996, known as Cyberslam 96!

ECW Cyberslam 1996 Results and Review

The Bad Crew and Judge Dredd defeated Dino Sendoff, Don E. Allen, and The Dirt Bike Kid

This was a 2 minute match of just bad attempts at wrestling. Not every ECW performer was great. This was just filler, and it was ok, I guess.

Spiro Greco defeated El Puerto Riqueno

This was a four minute lucha type match, and while it was a bit faster paced than the previous one, it’s not that good either. I liked it for what it was, but it was definitely not worth going back to watch.

Taz defeated Joel Hartgood

A squash match that was less than two minutes, and not much to say about this one. Sorry.

Buh Buh Ray Dudley defeated Mr. Hughes

This match was under a minute, I kid you not! This was a terrible squash, but hey that’s what wrestling was back then, I guess.

The Bruise Brothers defeated The Headhunters

Another fast paced match, but not much wrestling action, It was ok at best, and it was a normal tag match with only about 4 minutes of time given to it. This was definitely more like a Raw tag match, and just filler for the other matches.

J.T. Smith defeated Axl Rotten

This was a slightly longer match than the other ones, and it wasn’t half bad. It was ok for what it was, but it definitely left a lot to be desired as it was only about 7 minutes long.

Francine and The Pitbulls defeated Stevie Richards and The Eliminators in a Dog Collar Match

Now this is more like it. A stellar outing with a lot of brawling, and a lot of back and forth. Some great table spots, and some hard hitting elements, alongside Francine looking sexy as always. This was one hell of a brawl for the two teams, and at one point the dog collar snapped on Saturn, and he was free. But other than that, the teams were nearly killing each other for this match, and the crowd was going nuts.

2 Cold Scorpio versus Sabu ended in a Time Limit Draw

This match was for the ECW World Television Championship and it was one hell of a battle. The two guys went back and forth, and at one point I thought Sabu was dead. Scorpio was so good, I wish he didn’t have drug problems because he would have made it huge in wrestling. I loved his work, and he still goes strong in this match. Sabu is looking beat up even in 1996, but he throws down some great moments, and Scorpio looks legit knocked out a few times with chair shots and Sabu’s onslaught of action. This is a 30 minute match of pain, and it was great to see.

Shane Douglas defeated Cactus Jack

In one of the last appearances of Cactus Jack before he became Mankind about a month later, here’s Shane Douglas putting the fists and the boots to Cactus. This match was a lot like the Royal Rumble match that Foley had with the Rock, and it was a hard hitting affair. Douglas eventually handcuffs Cactus and he gets pummeled with unprotected chair shots. Out runs Mikey Whipwreck, Cactus Jacks’s partner in ECW and he brings a chair and knocks out Cactus, letting Shane Douglas get the win. A great hard hitting match, and one of the better ones on the card.

Raven defeated The Sandman

This was only about 10 minutes, but the crowd ate it up. Sandman brought out Missy Hyatt and she fought with Kimona Wanalaya and it was an extreme cat fight where they didn’t pull any punches. They were literally beating the hell out of each other. Meanwhile, Raven had help from the Blue Meanie and Stevie Richards. The Sandman got some great shots in, and he’s so sloppy that it just looked painful to watch Raven take abuse. Raven eventually got the win, but he had to take a great deal of abuse before the win.

That concludes ECW Cyberslam 1996. Not a terrible PPV, not a great one, but definitely worth checking out for the last 4 matches. That really had me going for this one. OH, and at one point Brian Pillman shows up and launches into his crazy Mark’s promo!

You can purchase ECW Cyberslam UNEDITED by CLICKING HERE, otherwise watch it on the WWE Network, but it’s going to be heavily edited.

WWE NXT Takeover The End Results and Review

My apologies for not posting sooner, I have been working on other things, it happens.

Here is my break down of this special event from a Wednesday night.

WWE NXT Takeover The End Results

Andrade "Cien" Almas def. Tye Dillinger

Andrade definitely put on a showcase of wrestling, and Dillinger worked well with him. There were some nice spots here, and a back and forth match had the crowd fully engulfed. Cien’s finish, wow, double knees, geez. It looks amazing, and done right, it can be a safe finisher for sure. Good opener.

The Revival def. NXT Tag Team Champions American Alpha

A well executed tag team match. It was quite possibly the best match I’ve seen in the tag division on any program put out by any wrestling promotion, ever. Ok, that’s a bit much. But it was definitely good. The Revival wrestled a great match and won big over American Alpha. I really wish WWE would hire Kurt Angle to be the leader of American Alpha, like he did with Team Angle.

Post match, NXT chanting “who are you”, really bugged me. The random beat down by some random idiots was stupid to me, but whatever.

Shinsuke Nakamura def. Austin Aries

Nakamura needs to really work on his English. This is not to say anything racist, but it’s true. His accent needs work and he needs to really master the language, or Vince will tie him with a bad gimmick in the main roster like he always seems to do. It’s not about promo-skills, it’s about communication, and that’s just my two cents. Overall, this match was a little more thought out than most of the Nakamura matches I’ve seen. This was ok overall, but was it great? Not really. There were a lot of slow points, which really caused me to yawn. The slow speeds aside, it was an adequate match with a lot to offer those that are watching NXT. It was fun to watch, but Nakamura walking out as though his knee wasn’t hurt was dumb. Oh well. Good, but not great.

NXT Women's Champion Asuka def. Nia Jax

Something always seems predictable about the women’s division in WWE. NXT is the same. I did not think that Nia Jax would win. She didn’t. The dichotomy of strength versus striking was fascinating at first glance, but overall it wasn’t that great of a showcase, in my view. It was adequate. Not bad, not great, like Sasha Banks versus Bayley, but still good overall.

NXT Champion Samoa Joe def. Finn Bálor (Steel Cage Match)

Not that grand here. It was completely predictable. Balor hit Joe with some stiff shots, including a full fledge kick to the face that would make Bret Hart cringe. Overall, the standard match, no blood, and something I didn’t care about really. Joe won with a second rope muscle buster, which was fun. Balor loses, he can go anywhere else, I don’t think he’s that great on the mic. So we’ll see if he gets a shot at the main roster.

Overall Rating: 5 out of 10

At the end of the day, this was a lot of spots, and finishes that didn’t really gel well with me. I think that the show is good, but it needs to have a larger venue to make it feel more special. This independent feel is good, but I’m not going to give it a huge rating, just didn’t like it THAT much.

Wrestling Is Fake...

We’ve all heard this one, some of us more times than others. But the nanosecond we openly admit to being a fan of wrestling we get the inevitable miscreant who thinks they are shattering our world with their intellect telling us, “You know wrestling is fake, right?”.

I had no idea!!! Are you going to tell me Santa Claus isn’t real? The Easter Bunny? If you tell me the Tooth Fairy is not real I’m going to burn this motherfucker down right now.

The Irony of the Stupidity

The WWE and wrestling in general, at one time, did go to great lengths to try and convince you everything you saw in the ring was real. Their job was to convince you there really is a place called “Parts Unknown”, “Death Valley” and various other fictional locations that matched up with a wrestlers gimmick. To their credit, they did a great job….because kids and teenagers believed it while the adults just enjoyed the entertainment value of it all. Oh and the bodies….my oh my some of them bodies.

Breaking News: That’s what the hell wrestling has ALWAYS BEEN ABOUT!

Let me make a few presumptions here that are more than likely true of these “wrestling is fake” people. My guess is they are HUGE followers of boxing and the UFC….aka real fighting. I would also venture a guess they have no less than half a dozen television/cable shows they watch religiously (Walking Dead, Orange is the New Black, etc). So it would stand to reason they know the difference between what’s real and what is scripted and can appreciate the entertainment from both, right. RIGHT?

Ever since WWE got “the F out” and became a publicly traded company, they have not made much of an effort to convince anyone with a working brain stem that their entertainment is not scripted. Peruse some of the programming on their network or on Youtube and you’ll see “good guys” and “bad guys” hanging out together, doing stuff together that if you were to believe the storylines, should never happen. The WWE is very much on board with people knowing the entertainment…..let me say that again, ENTERTAINMENT, is scripted with match results already predetermined. Just like ANY entertainment show on television today that doesn’t involve the “reality” genre….and even half of those are scripted but that’s a topic for another day. One of the great differences between WWE and wrestling entertainment overall is if a character is not connecting with a crowd and takes away from the flow of the show they are repackaged, relocated, replaced and sometimes even dismissed from the company. How many shows do you watch with an absolute trainwreck of a cast member or two that you have to put up with because they are under contract and therefore will continue to be in every episode no matter how horrible they are?

There Is A Reason For This Warning

When you break it all the way down, professional wrestlers are stunt men and women with scripts. That’s the bottom line. The moves they pull off in the ring and outside of it are nothing short of mind boggling sometimes and while choreography definitely has its place in the developing of matches, there are some moves that simply cannot be faked. Like…..jumping off the goddamn Hell in a Cell cage. Getting put through tables. Getting thrown off of ladders, out of a ring and landing on something about as cushy as a yoda mat. Fake landings? I think not. In the almost 30 years I’ve been watching wrestling I have seen every conceivable injury you can imagine happen to these men and women of the squared circle. Many of them come back from injury, some never do. There is nothing fake about the action that results in some of the most life altering injuries you will ever see. How many times do you think the action heros of the movies ACTUALLY jumped off of anything? How many times do you think they ACTUALLY landed on the pavement or grass or out of a plane and into the water? Zero. Between paid stunt men and women, green screens and ten foot tall landing cushions, I’d venture a guess that not even so much as a fingernail is broken in most scripted action scenes on television or the movies. But wrestling is “fake”?

The Self Inflicted Cognitive Dissonance and Where It Comes From

Back in the 80’s and early 90’s, before the WWE and wrestling in general became the mainstream entertainment juggernaut that it is today, it was common to hear most people deride wrestling as “fake fighting among guys in tights”. Why? Because it just hadn’t evolved yet, it was very much an overlooked and marginalized form of entertainment because it only appealed to a very small subset of the population. But it’s that very same mentality that has carried over into modern day judgement of wrestling because….here’s the kicker….they don’t actually WATCH the shows, might even be afraid they’ll like it and as such it’s “easier” to just follow the ever-dwindling crowd and say wrestling is fake as they sit down to watch their recorded, scripted TV shows full of green screens and stunt people. In short, I believe these “wrestling is fake” troglodytes WANT to watch, like and enjoy wrestling but because there are still more people saying it’s not “real” and therefore not “cool”, they can’t allow themselves to give it a try but rather just talk shit to those who do watch it. Because, you know, it makes them better than you.

Next week I'll be talking about....well.....you're just going to have to come back and see. Until then, I'm Irreparably Jaded and I know this article is a week late because....you know.....LIFE!

The Hypocrisy of Vince McMahon

Vinnie Mac was on Raw this week talking about how the WWE is family entertainment and isn’t a blood sport. He was referring to the fact that fans wanted Rybak to destroy Kofi Kingston on a previous edition of the WWE’s programs, and the crowd reacted with a great deal of chanting. Sure, McMahon is playing a role here, but what about the utter hypocrisy of the WWE at this point.

How are they hypocritical, and more importantly, how is McMahon’s words coming back to prove that the company doesn’t know how to entertain their older audience of, dare I say, smart wrestling fans? Well, he once again was pushing that “family” business, entertainment button, but the big main event that is coming up at Payback is that of John Cena battling Rybak (aka Bully Ray 2.0) in a 3 stages of hell match. Obviously there will be no blood, but the match will definitely call for some risky moves from both guys. Of course Superman, I mean John Cena will win out, but it’s this type of hypocritical thinking that is getting me back into wrestling.

I know, this all sounds stupid, and it’s not well written at all, but then again, since when is Sir Jorge’s WWE blog ever well written?

The point is that the family entertainment moniker that Vince was playing on during his speech on Raw doesn’t bode well for the present or future. I for one miss the blood days, and wish the crimson mask token wasn’t only spoken about Kane.

With that in mind, I’ll continue to ponder the notion of the hypocrisy of Vinnie Mac, since the “blood sport” that isn’t his business, sure seemed that way throughout Raw. With one major exception, the Divas boring match up. What a load of nonsense. Did you hear how quiet the announcers got, and how quiet the crowd was? It was definitely some of the worst aspects of Raw.

I’ll have more thoughts on Raw, and blog updates as I move forward with posting things on this site.

WWE Survivor Series 2012 Results and Review

WWE Survivor Series 2012 Results

Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Elimination Tag Match: Rey Mysterio, Sin Cara, Tyson Kidd, Justin Gabriel, & Brodus Clay def. The Prime Time Players, Primo, Epico, & Tensai
Divas Championship: Eve (c) def. Kaitlyn
United States Championship: Antonio Cesaro (c) def. R-Truth
World Heavyweight Championship: Sheamus def. Big Show (c) by DQ
Traditional 5-on-5 Survivor Series Elimination Tag Match: Dolph Ziggler, Wade Barrett, David Otunga, Damien Sandow, & Alberto Del Rio (w/ Ricardo Rodriguez) def. The Miz, Kofi Kingston, Kane, Daniel Bryan, & Randy Orton
WWE Championship: Triple Threat Match: CM Punk def. Ryback & John Cena

WWE Survivor Series 2012 Review (Sort of )

Well, well, the much hyped big event came through yesterday and all of us suckers that paid 40 some odd dollars because the build up was looking to be an outstanding thing, actually ended up being dumbfounded by yet another bad ppv, with the exception of the final match which featured some surprised and some overall good wrestling, even though some said Ryback wasn’t all that great.

The best Match: Main Event

Ryback and Cena ganging up on Punk was cool, but Punk getting help from former Nexus members was even better, and that’s how this match turned out. Punk once again retains but not without getting both Cena and Ryback to fight each other and make this a fair and even balanced match up. It did manage to get slowly started, but in the end the frenetic pace of finishers and counters really made it worthwhile. I thought for sure Ryback was going to get the push, but nope, not this time.

The Worst Match: Big Show vs. Sheamus

I’m sick of seeing the BIG SLOW he’s the worst wrestler at this point. Oh well. Sheamus is not gaining any traction in my book, but alas, it’s better than nothing, I guess.

The rest of the card wasn’t any better, but at least we have Raw to look forward to tonight, right? Oh who cares.

Oh, not to crap on the whole event, there were some shining lights here and there, it’s just rough when you get fed the same old move set and wrestlers facing each other, week in and week out.

Top 3 Bill Goldberg Matches - The Best of the Streak

Bill Goldberg was one of the best wrestlers of our generation. Ok, that was laughable, but the guy did hit a major stride in WCW and no matter if you love him or hate him, you have to realize that he was a big part of the growth of WCW alongside the NWO storyline.

These are my top 3 Bill Goldberg matches that you should go and see.

starrcade 98

3. Goldberg vs. Kevin Nash Starrcade 1998 - People like to say that Nash put himself over because he was the booking agent, but if you saw the match you'd disagree. Goldberg not only put on a great match up with Big Sexy, he didn't lose clean and would set up one of my favorite Souled Out moments against Scott Hall in a Ladder Match. Goldberg and Nash put together a very fun match up and I liked it a lot, enough to make it the #3 match up.

starrcade 99

2. Goldberg vs. Bret Hart Starrcade 1999 - Many people will remember Hart saying that Goldberg ended his career. But don't buy into that completely. Hart also had a bicycle accident that nearly paralyzed him, and Hart also won a huge tournament in the latter stages of WCW beating out guys like Chris Benoit, Sting, and others. He also had great matches with Macho Man, Sting, and so many others that it couldn't have been 1 man to end his career. Goldberg and Hart put on a show, and I loved it, and if you haven't seen it, you owe it to yourself to check it out.

halloween havoc 98

1. Goldberg vs. DDP Halloween Havoc 98 - Halloween Havoc 1998 was a great night in wrestling, depending on who you ask. While the people that bought the ppv got royally screwed, those of us that got the VHS tape after the fact were delighted to see one of the best pure wrestling matches in a long time from WCW. DDP and Goldberg didn't put on full hour of wrestling, but they put together a match that not only made perfect sense, it was a lot of fun to watch. This is my favorite Goldberg match and it is one of the best performances by DDP outside of his feuds with Macho Man, Raven, and others.

These matches are available in a variety of formats, and if you're interested in getting these on dvd, you should look no further than amazon.com, where you'll be surprised at what they offer in rare media. Goldberg might not be Hall of Fame contender, but he has a great deal of top tier matches to check out, including the ones above.

Rare Wrestling Finds: WCW Starrcade 1990 Collision Course VHS

wcw starrcade90

When I sold my wrestling collection, the one tape that garnered the most bids on ebay was WCW Starrcade 1990 in the original packaging. Someone in the UK paid $150 for it, and I originally got it for 99 cents. You can buy this one now online for around $30 in relatively good condition.

Starrcade 1990 was memorable for me because it was the first time on American television that I saw Konnan and Rey Mysterio SR face off against American opponents. I would see tapes later of them, but in this instance, it was a classic to see them wrestle in the United States, away from their Lucha Libre roots.

Also, Ric Flair's gimmick at the time was that he was a masked man, but no one knew. I guess that ruins the surprise for those that haven't seen the event. This was a great event, and it is not available on dvd, so you can order WCW Starrcade 1990 Collision Course VHS tape here.

WCW Starrcade 1990 Collision Course Card:

Bobby Eaton defeated The Z-Man

The Steiner Brothers (Rick and Scott) (USA) defeated Sgt. Krueger and Col. DeKlerk (South Africa) Tournament Quarterfinal

Konan and Rey Misterio (Mexico) defeated Chris Adams and Norman Smiley (United Kingdom)

Mr. Saito and The Great Muta (Japan) defeated The Royal Family (Rip Morgan and Jack Victory) (New Zealand) Tournament Quarterfinal

Victor Zangiev and Salman Hashimikov (Soviet Union) defeated Troy Montour and Danny Johnson (Canada)

Michael Wallstreet (with Alexandra York) defeated Terry Taylor

The Skyscrapers (Sid Vicious and Danny Spivey) defeated Big Cat and The Motor City Madman Tag team match

Tommy Rich and Ricky Morton (with Robert Gibson) defeated The Fabulous Freebirds (Jimmy Garvin and Michael Hayes) (with Little Richard Marley

The Steiner Brothers (USA) defeated Konan and Rey Misterio (Mexico) Tournament Semifinal

Mr. Saito and The Great Muta (Japan) defeated Victor Zangiev and Salman Hashimikov (Soviet Union) Tournament Semifinal

This Week In Pro Wrestling 12/18/10

This is my first and new commentary post that I will be doing each week as a way to not only add content to this blog but also run down what were the highlights in professional wrestling this week.

Memorable Moments

Raw

This week started out with the Slammy Awards edition of Raw. They said it was 3 hours, but it was really only about 2 hours and 10 minutes or so. The most memorable thing from Raw had to be John Cena and David Otunga.

John Cena defeated David Otunga in a major beat down match, and although I've seen this match before, I found that the dynamic between Nexus and Otunga seems to be the better story than just Cena getting rehired. I would love to see Wade Barrett get ousted as the leader much like NWO got split, and Nexus beat up Wade Barrett, turning him into the ultimate good guy along Cena...the unlikely team. A swerve angle might work there too, but Cena not trusting the new Wade would be interesting to say the least.

David Arquette coming back was interesting for me, although many people didn't see the point. It was a nice throwback, if you ask me, and from what I read about the backstage reaction, many people liked him.

Superstars

Zack Ryder defeated Darren Young in an interesting match. If you missed it, than you are not in the minority at else. Supserstars is not exactly the A list show and the ratings for it are terrible. I managed to see it, and out of all the wrestling this week, I think I enjoyed this match too much for my own good.

TNA Impact

Jay Lethal and Robbie E put on one hell of a match. I actually loved it so much and what made it better than their ppv match was the fact that Christy Hemme ran down to help Jay Lethal. Hemme is hot, I'd love to meet her and she seems like she would have a lot of energy and would chat my ear off. Jay Lethal recapturing the X-Division title was a good thing, but where TNA will go with the title and whether there will be a follow up to the Shark Boy thing at the ppv, time will only tell.

WWE Smackdown

The Miz and Rey Mysterio really put on a show in the middle of the card. I enjoyed that match greatly and they booked it to make Miz seem a lot smarter than his "vulnerable" champion gimmick that he said the WWE was trying to push him. Mysterio is still very popular with the whole crowd, and despite losing, he came out on top, especially later on in the night.

I'm glad to see the WWE finishing the Edge and Kane angle, and hopefully their feud is done, because it has been terrible.

Best Match of the Week

The best match of this week was definitely Robbie E vs. Jay Lethal for the X-Division title. It wasn't a four star classic, but I think it had some good overall wrestling, a great superplex, and controlling cookie was rad. I think the feud could have a little more to it, but time will tell.

The rest of the week in wrestling wasn't that memorable to me, and while there was some solid wrestling, it's forgettable.

Old School Thoughts

For some reason, I was thinking about Kevin Sullivan. Remember him? I remember he had this awesome match at Bash at the Beach 1997 in which he fought Chris Benoit. Benoit and Him transformed real heat backstage into a great retirement match in which Kevin Sullivan truly left wrestling. It's one of my all time favorite matches, and props to Kevin Sullivan for staying away from the wrestling world after he lost the match.

Just look at the promo package between the two, holy crap...the two went fist to fist at one point at Nitro and one can only assume there was real anger for those strikes.

Wrestling Shop

For those of you that have extra change and would like to find something cool to buy that's wrestling related, consider purchasing The Rise and Fall of WCW on Dvd. It features a full documentary of WCW good and bad and some great matches from the WCW era past and present. It's an interesting one, and worth your time. You can buy it here.

Lastly, for those of you that are looking to get TLC on ppv this weekend, here is the latest updated card.

WWE NXT 6/8/10 Results and Review

WWE NXT 6/8/10 Results

John Morrison and Eli Cottonwood defeated Zack Ryder and Titus O'neal
MVP and Percy Watson defeated Husky Harris and Cody Rhodes

WWE NXT 6/8/10 Review

John Morrison and Eli Cottonwood defeated Zack Ryder and Titus O'neal

A boring match, with the pro's doing most of the heavy lifting, and rightfully so. There's nothing too exciting here, Morrison got the pin and that was that. I'm not excited about the season 2 rookies, I'm just not.

MVP and Percy Watson defeated Husky Harris and Cody Rhodes

Another snoozer of a match. Man, the WWE knows how to stink up a crowd that's for sure. Nothing too crazy here again, just another standard match up with MVP getting most of the reaction with his predictable offense.

At the end of the show Striker asked what the Rookies thought of last night's events and they took turns saying what they thought. Afterwards, Striker had the pro's beat the crap out of the NXT guys. I don't know if this is a continuation of last night, but if it is, it's weak. I don't care about how they continued it, it's just stupid.

NXT continues to be the worst WWE show produced right now. I hate it. I can barely sit through this. And to think, they got rid of ECW for this garbage.

From The Mailbag 1/28/10 Edition

Another seven or so days has gone by and here are the latest comments and notes from the world of wrestling:

Ken has left a comment on the post "TNA Impact 1/21/10 Results and Review No Change in...":

This show as atrociously bad as Hogan's idea of "change" is apparently rehashing shit from 1996 and 1997. Moreover, after TNA just asked the audience not to chant bullshit before the show, what does Kurt Angle do? Say "this is bullshit!" at the end of the show.

He's right, it WAS bullshit. It sucked.

Yes, it was completely terrible. I am not sure where they are going or how much actual planning they did, but it came across as amateur at best. I agree. Let's hope tonight's show is good.

Shane has left a comment on your post "WWE Friday Night Smackdown 1/22/10 Results and Rev...":

This was definitely not a good Smackdown. Honestly, I do beleive that, on average, it is better than Raw but that's probably just because they have more of my favorite characters. Well, as I've said before I am a big Kane fan even though I know he won't win the Rumble (unless my wishes of another Wrestlemania match between Kane and Taker come true [I always mark out huge for those, except 23. Their match at Wrestlemania 23 sucked.]) So even though I know he won't win I am looking for a big Kane push at the Rumble.

Personally, I think the final four of the Rumble will be Shawn Michaels, Triple H, Batista, and John Cena. My prediction, Triple H wins.

Back onto the subject of the show, this one sucked. Jericho is a good and entertaining speaker as a heel, but I always liked his 'Lionheart' gimmick better. As for Kahli, I don't know if they're going back to his whole Punjabi Playboy thing but I'm really not a fan. I only liked him in one match (a triple threat with kane and batista, at the Bash i think). Taker is better as a heel. And personally, I think all the people Punk are saving are plants. Well, maybe not all but definitely the woman. There was just alot wrong with this show and not many good things. Looking forward to DX's breakup on Raw. Michaels and Triple H are better as single wrestlers.

On point, you're exactly right. Maybe we'll see some more thought in the show this week. Rumors are flying about all sorts of things, and that's good for interest. However, it didn't excuse a terrible show.

dag8ownar said said in regards to last week's Smackdown post:

This one was a sucky filler episode of Smackdown. Nothing really happened and the matches were just plain stupid. But the first tag team match was pretty good.

I hope they give John Morrison another push. He only needs to work a little on his mic skills, because in the ring he's untouchable.

Well, back on the show ... that final segment was just weak and stupid. Taker doesn't look that badass nor evil anymore like back in time. He needs to turn heel once more! I think he's been looking like an idiot on his more recent promos, but maybe it's just me. And will we get Shawn vs Taker againat WM? I hope we won't. And yes, i think Batista is on the juice and he's been since ... always? Well, he still sucks.

Yeah, the show sucked. I'm sure Morrison will come back at it again. Shawn and Taker would be terrible, let's hope it doesn't happen. Oh yeah, Batista is on the juice bad, let's hope he doesn't tear anything anytime soon.

Well that's it for the comments. I had to rush em this week because I'm trying to come up with the cable bill.

Chris Jericho in March Issue of Men's Fitness

I got a cool email from Men's Fitness in regards to Chris Jericho's appearance in Men's Fitness in March. Here's a cover of the magazine, make sure you check it out.

Chris Jericho in March Issue of Men's Fitness

WWE SUPERSTAR CHRIS JERICHO REFLECTS ON HIS PAST AND HOW THE RING PREPARED HIM FOR HOLLYWOOD
IN THE MARCH ISSUE OF MEN’S FITNESS
On Newsstands January 25th Nationwide

NEW YORK, NY—He’s a television personality, actor, best selling author and one of WWE’s biggest stars. Now Chris Jericho reflects on his humble beginnings as a struggling wrestler and the path that led him to success in the new March issue of Men’s Fitness. “In those days, there was no Internet, no cell phone. I was a smaller guy coming from a small town. How does anyone become a wrestler? I just figured that God had this plan for me,” he says in the issue. "When I didn’t have enough money for gas to drive the 25 minutes to Calgary, I worked out in a barn. Pull-ups on the wooden struts and hay bale curls. Chugging raw eggs and devouring liver for extra protein. You do what you have to do to keep in shape.”

Following are highlights from his interview in the March issue of Men’s Fitness, on newsstands January 25th nationwide.

On What Influence Him To Be A Wrestler

“I loved the pomp and circumstance. It was like a play between good and bad guys.”

On How Life In The Ring Prepared Him To Tackle A Career In Hollywood

“ We still gotta take the bumps and bruises,’ he says. ‘It’s show-business boot camp. You learn how to behave in front of a live crowd. In this day and age, it’s not how big your biceps are, it’s about connecting with fans. It’s like being an actor onstage.‘ ”

On His Challenges To Eat Right During Hard Times

“You’d go into convenience stores and buy hard-boiled eggs, bottled water and some apples and that’s your healthy dinner. If you’re lucky.”

Trainer Chris Gonzalez On Jericho’s Strong Return to the Ring

“When he returned to the WWE, the other guys thought he looked bigger and leaner than when he left.”

Hello SERBIA! I'm glad that you're enjoying my comments on wrestling and such, makes sure you keep reading, and writing. Thanks for your comment.

Shane said in regards to my post for ECW 1/5/10:

It's killing me what the WWE is doing with Mark Henry, and especially Kane. They've become the equivalent of professionally paid jobbers. I remember Kane's debut. Soon after it, he got both the Hardys in a double chokeslam and ko'd them both. Now...a loss to Ziggler (even worse, a clean loss). As for Mark Henry, basically the same principle. The company is very stupid with their talent sometimes.

Shane, you're absolutely right. I remember the Big Red Machine was a dominant force. I recall feuds with Undertaker and Stone Cold Steve Austin where he was in there gaining a foothold in the mainstream wrestling. He even had good feuds with "fake kane"...ok so it wasn't that great, but it's funny to see WWE drop the ball on him. Could it be that Kane is just not that into his role anymore? Maybe it's not all wwe. I'm not sure.

As for Mark Henry, I've never been a fan. I've absolutely never been a huge fan of Mark Henry, but he did start to get a decent push and some crowd reaction. Now? He's stuck in midcard hell again. At least he's not impregnating Mae Young or anything.

Shane also said in regards to my wwe monday night raw review from 1/4/10:

I was impressed with this episode of RAW. Jericho was great and I'm gonna miss him. Guess I'll have to start watching Smackdown more. The tag match was great. I enjoyed the conversations between Michaels/Vince and Bret. RAW beat TNA fair and square tonight and I don't see TNA becoming "number one" anytime soon.

You're right. The tag match at the 1 hour main event mark was some of the best tag team wrestling I've seen out of WWE on Raw in a long time. He'll pop up, I'm sure, if wwe can make money with Jericho they'll put him back on Raw, and through his comedic efforts he'll get back in. Remember, though, this is not new Jericho. WCW Jericho did the same thing with the Cruiserweight title and finding loopholes to hold onto it, even after losing to Rey Mysterio and others. So it's just vintage Jericho, and that's fine by me. He'll be back, that's my two cents.

TNA was terrible by comparison. Hart and McMahon finally getting something going is long overdue. I liked it. I was definitely excited for this Raw and they somewhat delivered.

shane also said in regards to TNA 1/4/10:

I watched RAW instead. All I saw was the Steel cage and hardy's return. sounds like i didnt miss much though.

Hardy's return was one of the worst returns in wrestling history. That cage match was one of the worst cage matches in history too. Overall TNA talked change, but they didn't change much. On a sidenote, I might be the only fan left of the Nasty Boys.

Thanks for the comments.

dag8ownar said in regards to my WWE Monday Night Raw 1/18/10 review:

This show bored me, but it didn't suck that much it had its moments. Taker promos are getting stale, i think he should turn heel again. There were a lot of squash matches, and that's what i really hate about Raw. The divas actually did a better job this time.

And i'm sorry about you being unemployed. I really want to help but got fired from my job too. I watched Raw on a stream.

Cheers from Chile.

HELLLLO CHILE! Or should I say Hola! Do they call people from Chile chilango's? I know Mexican's are sometimes called that (I would know), but none the less, thank you for reading and commenting!

The show was boring, you're right. Taker is definitely not as good as "heel" taker. He need to be more demonic, in my view. Remember when he kidnapped Stephanie? He also crucified Steve Austin! He was more dominant with a stable, now he's just not that great.

The divas did indeed improve, but their finish was boring.

As for me and my job, I guess I might end up working at McDonalds...which is tough for me to admit. I'm a college graduate with a lot of experience as a manager. Oh well.

Finally, want to see a great comeback? Unlike Hardy's comeback?

At ECW's Guilty as Charged ppv they had a surprise return and it was Pscyho Sid, he came down to the ring and just chokeslammed Kronus to hell...here is the video:

Keep the comments coming, I could sure use the opinions, and I'll comment back via these mail bag posts. Thanks again to all that commented in the past week or so, your thoughts are important to the future of this site.
