TNA Impact 11/6/08 Review and Results Hitman For The Mafia

The show opens with the Main Event Mafia and an introduction to Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner. He’s the “hitman” for the Mafia.

Booker T & Beer Money defeated Christian & The Motor City Machine Guns

Here we have a six man tag, and I’m not really sure why. I though only WWE perpetually gave us six man tag matches for no apparent reason, and I guess TNA is doing this now too. I know they’ve done it all along but this is the first time I realized it. This match wasn’t too bad, but the ending was kind of stupid to me, a little too much really. The Machine Gun were outside the ring fighting Beer Money while Christian seemed to have things sewn up against Booker T, only to get distracted and then get hit in the head with the TNA Legends belt, and that was that. Booker T pinned Chrisitan Cage.

Matt Morgan & Abyss defeated Tanahashi & Volador, Team 3-D, and Lax

A four way ladder match for a shot at the TNA title, and this was just a huge spot fest. This contest was done Texas Tornado style and each team was in the ring at the same time, as it should be. However, throughout this whole match you didn’t see more than 4 people in the ring at the same time. The best spot was definitely Hernandez jumping out of the ring and getting a face full of ladder as he was 10 feet short of a 12 foot jump. This match seemed to be going fast, but there was a lot of time in between spots spent just setting up the next spot. The whole ring was laid out, and I thought for sure this thing was going to favor Team 3-D somehow, but instead, Abyss climbed to the top of the ladder and pulled down the contract and now they get a shot at the TNA Tag Team Titles!

Awesome Kong & Raisha Saeed defeated Taylor Wilde & Rhaka Khan

I wasn’t too sure about this match up, simply because we’ve already seen two tag team matches on the show, even if they were for different reasons. I’m tired of seeing tag matches, honestly, but this wasn’t so bad. Taylor Wilde was the one taking most of the punishment, as Awesome Kong was putting on a wrestling clinic with her, showing her power and prowess. Taylor Wilde was getting worked immediately, and this was most likely because Rhaka Khan can’t really wrestle all that well. Rhaka gets the tag, and she comes in only to chokeslam Taylor Wilde and allow Awesome Kong to deliver the implant buster and Taylor Wilde gets worked in this match up. This is how you do a turn and squash match! Awesome, Taylor Wilde is a true competitor as she takes one heck of a beating in this match up. This is how you do women’s wrestling!

Sting & Kurt Angle defeated Eric Young, Consequences Creed and Jay Lethal

This had squash all over it, seriously, there was no way that these guys were going over on Nash, Sting, and Kurt Angle. OH and thanks TNA ANOTHER six man tag match on the show? Another tag match? Please stop throwing tag matches at me. This was a really quick match and there was not a whole lot to it. I don’t know why I expected more out of TNA because they really screwed me over on this one. Kurt Angle delivered the Angle Slam for the victory as Sting and Nash took care of Lethal and Young on the outside of the ring. This was quick and easy, and a waste of time for anyone watching Tna Impact this week.

Big Poppa Pump Scott Steiner defeated Samoa Joe

Finally, a singles match up on TNA Wrestling. Scott Steiner hasn’t been relevant for a long time, but here he’s not half bad. He seems to have lost a considerable amount of weight, and while he still looks large, he doesn’t look as huge as he was in his last WWE run or even his last moments in WCW. He’s still somewhat larger than he was in the early 90’s. Samoa Joe put some great moments in this match even if it was a television match up. I was impressed that Scott Steiner had no problem lifting Joe and throwing him around with some great suplexes, and I was beginning to turn my opinion a little in the early goings of this match up. Best part of this match up was when Joe was running the ropes he missed Scott Steiner only to jump out of the ring with a suicide dive into Kevin Nash who was standing outside of the ring! On returning into the ring though, Scott Steiner knocked him out with a pair of Brass Knuckles, and it was all over!
