I was under the impression that the 800th episode of Raw was done a few weeks back, but apparently it is this one? I don’t know. 3 hours of raw though, and some huge matches, I was a tad bit excited for this one, and here’s how it all went down:
Randy Orton started the show, and he was planning on quitting if someone doesn’t come out and fire Mike Adamle. He then sits down and waits. I think it’s stupid, but what do I know?
The Hardys defeated MVP & The Kendrick
This was an interesting match up, at least initially. I couldn’t believe that they would team up Kendrick with a downward falling MVP, but they went for it, and we all had to just watch. The match went through a lot of motions and The Hardys made it work well, and won. This was the standard Hardys match up with them doing their traditional move set and MVP jobbing once again. This was entertaining, but it wasn’t all that great, it was just another Hardys match to me and didn’t mean a whole lot to the grand scheme of things.
Ted Dibiase, Jamie Noble, Manu, Shad, JTG, Snitsky, and William Regal in an 8 Man Battle Royal (winner gets Intercontinental title shot)
A quick over the top rope match up, with Ted Dibiase throwing out his own partners! The other highlight was Regal and Jamie Noble beating the crap out of each other. JTG was hanging on by a thread with near falls over the top rope, but skating by each time, eventually William Regal threw out Shad and Ted Dibiase, out of nowhere and won the match up, and now Regal will face Santino next week in his home town of Manchester, England! This match was terrible. However, a Regal title shot in his home town would be interesting for next week indeed.
Stephanie McMahon and Shane McMahon showed up on Raw! Shane McMahon forces Randy Orton to wrestle tonight against CM Punk, and Mike Adamle quits Raw.
Vladimir Kozlov defeated Charlie “Hitman” Haas
Charlie Haas comes out dressed as one of my all time favorite wrestlers, and it’s not that great. I don’t like it, but oh well. Kozlov wins this throwaway match up. What a stupid way to get Kozlov over, this isn’t 1998, we don’t need the old Goldberg gimmick. Oh well. He wrestles Undertaker this week, so that should be interesting.
Degeneration X defeated Miz and Morrison
Was this the passing of the tag team torch? Not really, while Miz and Morrison are still one of the better tag teams in the WWE right now, they still lack the charisma and fan disproval that they are seeking. The match favored Triple H and Shawn Michaels, naturally and things were just not that great. This was a very predictable match, considering we’ve seen this version of Degeneration X a lot in the last few years, and while Miz and Morrison might be rising stars, they aren’t going to win this one easily at all, and were taking punishment left and right. Triple H was definitely taking liberties. The Miz and Morrison did turn the match around a couple of times in the match up, but it was short lived to say the least. Two or three moves later Triple H delivers the Pedigree on the Miz and it’s all said and done, Triple H holding down the roster in this tag team match up. It wasn’t even close.
Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix, Layla, Katie Lea Burchill, Jillian, Maryse, Natalya, Victoria & Lena Yada defeated Mae Young, Divas Champion Michelle McCool, Mickie James, Kelly Kelly, Candice Michelle, Eve, Brie Bella & Tiffany.
There are too many divas to mention, but there were 16 divas involved in this match including Mae Young. This match was lame, too much going on, and not enough experience to cover the amount of in ring performances needed. Mae Young got involved in this match up and she was chopping the crap out of Beth Phoenix! Mae Young then gives some of the weakest left hands I’ve ever seen, and then takes a major tumble, but recovers easily. Mae Young was throwing people out of the ring, and eventually lost to a Beth Phoenix roll up! This was another throwaway match up!
Randy Orton vs. Cm Punk (no contest)
I thought the WWE would give us this match on a major ppv event, not just a random Raw. Well, three hour raw is a lot bigger than usual, but this match never really ended. Rany Orton was clearly going to win this match up and Ted Dibiase ran in for the interference. This prompted Randy Orton to run and kick the crap out of Ted Dibiase, knocking him out completely. Randy Orton then left the ring. This match was going poorly for CM Punk, so there was no apparent reason for Ted Dibiase to run out there. What a waste of time….however, will Randy Orton turn face? Can we get a heel Cena too?
The Undertaker defeated JBL
I can’t believe they threw this match up too; The Undertaker looked strong against JBL, as he should have. JBL didn’t look so hot in this match, and it looks like he’s lost some weight. Undertaker took control early on, but was thwarted by a JBL lariat, and then JBL went to work on the dead man. I didn’t mind this match so much, these two big guys really put on a decent match up, even if it once again was shorter than usual. The Undertaker won this match up out of nowhere against JBL with the tombstone piledriver. It just seemed like too short of a match up. Shawn Michaels threw JBL into the ring, as JBL was planning on leaving the match, and we get Taker winning on Raw!
Kung Funaki, Goldust, Jesse and Festus, Boogeyman, Michael Cole, Sgt. Slaughter, Dusty Rhodes, Lillian Garcia, Teddy Long, and Hornswoggle had a dance party in the middle of the ring. Prompting Ron Simmons to come out and say; “DAMN!”
Kane & Mark Henry defeated Rey Mysterio & World Tag Team Champion Kofi Kingston
The monsters once again look dominant as they started this match against Rey Mysterio. Mysterio got some quick offense in, using his speed as an advantage, but it seemed that Kane wasn’t having it as he stopped Mysterio in his tracks, with ease. Mark Henry got in and once again he was putting on a show against Mysterio. The Great Khali came out and attacked Kane out of nowhere! He then got into the ring and attacked Mark Henry! Not exactly sure why? Mysterio then delivered the 619 on Mark Henry who then walked into a huge chop from the Great Khali, and this match never really ended as far as I can tell.
Chris Jericho defeated Batista in a World Heavyweight Championship Cage Match
Your standard cage match here, and almost the same match that Jericho had with CM Punk. It looked as though Jericho was timing it so that he could win the world title by falling out of the cage and at one point almost fell out completely, had he not held onto the fence. Jericho took it to Batista for the most part, having more offense than Batista. The Highlight for me was, Batista missing the spear and ramming himself right into the side of the cage head first nearly losing the match up. Batista got up and caught Jericho trying to climb out, but right outside the door, and this was a setup for the end, Chris Jericho then got into the ring and tried his hardest to avoid the Batista Bomb, eventually freeing himself. Jericho was nearly out of the ring again, but Batista grabbed him and it looked like we’re getting a super batista bomb, but Jericho grabbed a steel ring from the cables that hold the Cage in place and busted Batista open the hard way! This became a classic when Jericho came down first against Batista! Seriously, Chris Jericho once again is the world champion, and Batista was left in the ring a bloody mess! That’s right, Chris Jericho defeated Batista in a cage match to win the World Heavyweight Title!

I totally marked out when Jericho hit the floor in that match. I liked Jericho as the Champ, but with the announcement of Cena coming back to fight for the title at Survivor Series, I thought they were going to work the Batista-Cena angle all over again.
ReplyDeleteWhat the Rey Mysterio & Kofi Kingston vs. Kane & Mark Henry's match ended by Pinfall. I wasn't surprised at the announment at SummerSlam. I think that Rey Mysterio & Kane should battle 1-on-1 in a No. 1 Contenders shot for the World Heavyweight Championship. John Cena always gets what he wants. Mike Adamle quitting Raw GM. I wish he stayed.
ReplyDeleteI think Khali is about to go face. The fact that he wouldn't hit Taker with the chair weeks ago seemed to be the catalyst for this move in my eyes.
