WWE Monday Night Raw January 30, 2017 Results and Review Taz Debut and More

Samoa Joe Channeling Tazz
The night after the Royal Rumble had a lot of things that could’ve gone right. But it also had a lot to make up for since the internet wrestling community was really upset about how it all went down. That being said, consider that Laredo, Texas had a pretty crappy Raw. There was a lot more talking than you would expect, and it was painfully obvious that the WWE is not going to shift away from that format of constant talking. Whatever the case may be, let’s discuss the night in the only way I know how, cynical.

WWE Monday Night Raw January 30, 2017 Results

Sami Zayn defeated Chris Jericho in a non title match
Tony Nese defeated Mustafa Ali
Brown Shoeman defeated Kevin Owens via DQ
Nia Jax defeated Sasha Banks via match stoppage
Enzo Amore and Big Cass defeated Rusev and Jingle My Balls in a Tornado Tag Team Match
Taz debuted to choke out Seth Rollins

WWE Monday Night Raw January 30, 2017 Review

Sami Zayn defeated Chris Jericho in a non title match

The opening match of the night came after a lot of talk, which I didn’t care for. Whatever the case may be, Chris Jericho came out to take on Sami Zayn, which was a good overall match. It’s funny, because Zayn gets these great wins against small guys, then gets obliterated against bigger dudes. Not only that, he’s constantly doing good work, and is made to look like an idiot backstage. Oh well. This match was good, but not perfect in any way.

Tony Nese defeated Mustafa Ali

Another mat based classic. I wonder why the WWE won’t just let these guys turn it on. They can go, and they can do a lot more than head locks and boredom. Nese was asked a few pointed questions by Ausin Airies and that was the end. Nese may be getting a title shot in the near future.

Neville got beat down by Rich Swann. I didn’t care.

Brown Shoeman defeated Kevin Owens via DQ

Brown Shoeman got a title shot against Kevin Owens, but guess what? The BIG DOG came running down, with music and everything. Owens was selling from the night before, taped up, and limping to the ring. Meanwhile Roman Reigns was looking like he didn’t have a match last night, going through Strowman with relative ease. Owens won thanks to DQ, but that’s that. I am not looking forward to seeing Shoeman buried, but you will see it happen since you can’t really put the BIG DOG down, can you? I hate Roman Reigns sometimes.

Nia Jax defeated Sasha Banks via match stoppage

Sasha Banks has been demoted to the internet. She got beat down by Jax, and the ref stopped the match. Oh well. Banks needs to take some time off if you ask me. Jax is on a collision course to the title, and Charlotte will have to do a lot more than she’s been doing to get a big win.

Enzo Amore and Big Cass defeated Rusev and Jingle My Balls in a Tornado Tag Team Match

Comedy act aside, Amore and Cass do well together. Rusev and Jingle My Balls did ok, but this was a throwaway match with no major title picture contension. I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t love it either.

Bayley, Cesaro and Sheamus defeated Charlotte, and The Club Sandwich Boys

This was a boring match, simple as that. Boring and boring, with Bayley winning after a suplex. I guess it’s a lot easier to defeat Charlotte on Raw, eh?

Taz debuted to choke out Seth Rollins

Triple H cut the world’s most boring promo, and that brought out Seth Rollins. However, Rollins didn’t get his wish of fighting HHH, he instead met face to face against Taz! That’s right TAZ! The human suplex machine! I kid. It was Samoa Joe. However, all I could think of was Scott Steiner. “HE’S FAT!” Oh well. I guess Rollins will have to face Joe, beat him, or rather bury him, then get HHH at mania. Only to win, and then what? Get a title shot? Who cares. Rollins is wasted here.

Brock Lesnar and Goldberg will face off at Mania. Heyman tried his best to do a good promo, but it sucked. I can’t stand the guy. I really hope that Goldberg and Lesnar get another 1 minute match. I don’t want to see them wrestle a long winded affair, I just don’t.

ECW Hardcore Heaven 1995 Results and Review A Better VHS Experience

It took me a long time to finish this one. I couldn’t just power through it, but I wanted to make sure that I started reviewing all the ECW events I could get my hands on. Now, I owned the original releases from RF video and from boot legs that I traded for. ECW Hardcore Heaven 1995 is an event that featured great wrestling, some hardcore, and some not so hardcore elements. If you see this on WWE Network, you will NOT get the real crowd reaction nor will you get the music. It’s heavily edited. I recommend picking up the original release by clicking here, or the dvd option here.

This event occurred on July 1, 1995 and had 1,150 people in attendance at the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a super card, and was NOT on pay per view.

ECW Hardcore Heaven 1995 Results and Review

The Dudley Brothers defeated The Pitbulls

This wasn’t the Dudleys that you remember today. This was the initial introduction and they weren’t really good. The Pitbulls were massive, over, and put the boots to the Dudleys in this one. However, the two exchanged brawling elements before the Dudley’s number game caught up with the Pitbulls. Not a great match, but definitely an interesting starter.

Dino Sendoff and Don E vs. Chad Austin and The Broad Street Bully (no contest)

The crowd was really letting these guys have it, until 911 showed up and choke slammed everyone to oblivion.

Hack Meyers defeated Big Malley

A forgettable match, nothing special here.

2 Cold Scorpio defeated Taz

Taz looked great here. His suplexes are so crisp, great work from him. Scorpio picked up the win, and I can’t help but remember Flash Funk and how the WWE really missed the boat with him. Scorpio picked up the win with high flying moves that predate a lot of the style that you see today. Taz, wow, dude just has such quick suplexes, this wasn’t a classic, but it was definitely a good match.

Raven and Stevie Richards defeated Tommy Dreamer and Luna Vachon

This was a fun match to watch. Luna Vachon is underrated in my book. Dreamer got a ton of offense, but would eventually cave to Raven and Richards. The Pitbulls made an appearance here, and it was just a brawl throughout the match before Raven and Richards got the win.

Axl Rotten defeated Ian Rotten (Taipei Death match)

This was just a brawl. The gimmick is that each participants hands were wrapped in tape and glass. It was brutal, but Axl Rotten would win. Not a good match folks. It was just blood and guts. ECW trademarks, I guess.

The Sandman defeated Cactus Jack (ECW World Championship Match)

Cactus came out with his arm wrapped in barbed wire. Sandman came out drinking and with Woman (Nancy Benoit). This match was nothing short of a cluster of missed time wrestling moves, and brawling. Sandman is not a technical great, and Cactus carried him through 13 watchable minutes of what you may call a wrestling match. Lots of cane shots, lots of barbed wire, lots of blood, and the classic Cactus Jack spots.

The Public Enemy defeated The Gangstas

This was a brawl with weapons. Overall, nothing grand, unless you really liked these two teams. People went through tables, lots of hard hits to the head with weapons, and eventually The Gangstas go down in a heap. The fans jumped in the ring and celebrated with Public Enemy to send everyone home happy.

Overall, this show wasn’t half bad. It’s not a great one, but it’s not a terrible match. If you liked WWE’s hardcore division or WCW’s hardcore title, then this is for you. It’s a cluster of violence, with a ton of plunder, and no real psychology. It’s a fun watch, but nothing that great. The post match celebration was memorable.

Overall Rating 5 out of 10

That’s it for ECW’s Hardcore Heaven 1995. While the WWE Network version is fine, I highly recommend getting the UNEDITED version. It's rare, out of print and hard to find. That has the original music, the original full length matches, uncensored commentary and more. It’s just better. Until next time, this has been another review of a classic card, from the VHS days.

TNA Impact 10/14/10 Results and Review

TNA Impact 10/14/10 Results

Madison Rayne defeated Tara for the knockouts title
Fortune defeated The Pope
Samoa Joe defeated Abyss via dq
RVD vs Ken Anderson (no contest)

TNA Impact 10/14/10 Review

TNA tried to pull a WCW 1996 on the ppv, and you know what? It was one of the biggest lackluster things in a long time, and NO i'm not just jaded on wrestling, it's agreed upon across a lot of podcasts, and wrestling websites.

Abyss, Hogan, Double J and Jarrett all cut promos to start the show off.

They kept talking, but out came Fortune. Flair started to cut a promo about how Fortune is running things.

Flair and Hogan were set to square off, and instead of fighting they hugged! Yep. Fortune is now part of "THEY" too. Wow...so stupid.

OUt came Jeff Hardy, the champ....mind you this is 20 minutes into the show, and no wrestling. Hardy cut a promo, and he didn't have a lot of paint on or anything.

Out came Sting and Kevin Nash.

Kevin Nash got on the mic and cut a "nice guy" promo and said that this time he's NOT going to join "THEY" and just walk away.

Sting got on the mic, and he cut a "nice guy" promo too. Sting walked away too. They just left.

Bischoff got on the mic and said that Sting and Nash would be at home getting FAT, and that's that. 30 minutes of the show was dedicated to "THEY" going off. I remember this same angle 10 years back or so....called the NEW WORLD ORDER. Yep.

Backstage Dixie was asking Sting & Nash to stay, but they walked out. Hogan and Bischoff then confronted Dixie and she slapped the crap out of Bischoff!!!! Wow...backstage...Dixie gave her best performance, and Hogan totally talked her down! Wow. Compelling? Not really, but eh, whatever, I'll take what I can get.

Dixie was thrown out of Hogan's office, and Serj (Dixie's husband) got knocked the EFF out! Hahah. 35 minutes into the show, still no wrestling.

Madison Rayne defeated Tara for the knockouts title

In a "finger poke" of doom match, Tara gave up the belt. Tara laid down for Madison Rayne.

Dare I say, 40 minutes into the show and still NO wrestling.

Mickie James came out and challenged Madison...yawns ensued.

45 minutes and no wrestling.

Kurt Angle came down and cut a promo.

Kurt Angle then got beat down by Double J after he came out and cut a promo on Angle. Angle was handcuffed and beaten and battered, and that was that. Tazz came off the booth and helped Angle, and that was that. Angle's done...Double J has a ruthless streak? That's that...bye bye Angle...I hope he goes to WWE and feuds with the All American, American, American, American, American.

52 minutes and NO wrestling.

We get to see Samoa Joe walking around some beach. He cut a promo on Double J.

So 50+ minutes before we finally get a wrestling match, if you can call it that.

Samoa Joe defeated Abyss via dq

This wasn't much of a match, it was just Abyss dominating Samoa Joe for the most part. Joe did manage an insane move by diving through the middle ropes and taking out Abyss, but other than that, it was just Abyss beating up Samoa Joe. Joe won via dq, and that prompted RVD to come out. Abyss then beat up JOe. But RVD saved the day...kind of.

Ugh...what a terrible night of wrestling.

RVD cut a promo on Hardy. Ugh....

Fortune defeated The Pope

The Pope fought all of Fortune. It's interesting to me that Fortune cheated to win, 5 on 1. Whatever. The Pope got buried, and that's that. I didn't hate the match, and I'm ok with a 5 on 1 beat down, I just wish there was more wrestling on the show.

The Shore had a promo with some chick from the real show...nothing I remembered happened there.

RVD vs Ken Anderson (no contest)

Anderson and RVD put on an ok match for tv. There were some nice reversals from Anderson, but the crowd wasn't at all into this match up. RVD looked winded after 5 or so minutes, and that's just sad. Anderson carried most of the match, even countering the Five Star Frog Splash and Rolling THunder, but it was painfully obvious that this match wasn't going to get a finish...yet again.

Bischoff came down, pulled the ref, and out ran Jeff Hardy. Hardy beat up Anderson and RVD with a chair. Yep. That'sit.

The last moment was awesome.

Hardy hit a Twist of Fate on RVD onto a chair that had Anderson's arm in it. SICK finisher!

TNA is terrible, the non finish matches, the 1 hour of setting up the second half of the show...NO x-division match, no tv title match, no tag team titles match...geez...why even have a wrestling show?

Oh and WHO KIDNAPPED SAMOA JOE??!?!?!?

TNA Hardcore Justice 2010 Results and Review

TNA Hardcore Justice 2010 Results

THE FBI defeated Kid Kash, Simon Diamond, Johnny Swinger
Too Cold Scorpio defeated CW Anderson
Stevie Richards defeated Justin Credible w/ Nova & Fake Blue Meanie
Rhyno defeated Al Snow and Spike Dudley in a triple threat elimination match
The Dudleys w/ Joel Gertner defeated Balls Mahoney & Axel Rotten
Raven defeated Tommy Dreamer w/ special guest referee Mick Foley
RVD defeated SABU

TNA Hardcore Justice 2010 Review

The TNA ECW ppv started with a recap of the past of extreme wrestling. It's relatively the same as the one they showed on Impact. Once again, we see if TNA could make something out of nothing.

The crowd kept saying ECW regardless of copyright.

Taz came out first!

Taz gave some lame speech..it sucked.

THE FBI defeated Kid Kash, Simon Diamond, Johnny Swinger

Most of these guys do not have their physiques. I didn't really want to watch this, and was already tired. This was a very interesting match, because it had real wrestling in it! There were a few botches, but for the most part there was a good overall pace and wrestling prowess that YOU DO NOT SEE regularly. TNA talent could learn a thing or two from these guys, even if some of them were obviously out of their prime. The match turned into a dance off....ugh...not my thing. So thsi match had some good moments, and it wasn't a complete loss, despite a little bit of ring rust. I liked it, it was entertaining, and the best six man tag I've seen in a long time.

The main event would be none other than RVD vs Sabu, since Jerry Lynn was injured.

Too Cold Scorpio defeated CW Anderson

Scorpio (Flash Funk) doesn't look like he has been kept up his workout regimen, but then again CW Anderson wasn't exactly ripped. This match was interesting, if only to showcase that these two could still work really well. I liked it, wow, I didn't think I would like it, but Scorpio is quite fast. Scorpio won with one of the most amazing moves I've ever seen! He did a Full BackFlip and hit a LEG DROP! That's right, a full flip leg drop!

Bill Alfonso was backstage with RVD.

Stevie Richards defeated Justin Credible w/ Nova & Fake Blue Meanie

Justin Credible had this match nearly won with a spinning Tombstone Piledriver, but was distracted. Other than some simple moves, this match wasn't all that great, and the crowd was dead until Stevie hit the Superkick and won this match up. I didn't like it that much, and it was a real downer until Credible hit Richards with the Singapore Cane! That was awesome for sure.

The lights went out, and guess who?

THE SANDMAN! (Taz of course ruined the surprise)

The Sandman showed up and Justin Credible tried to fight, but immediately got a Russian Leg Sweep and the caning of his life. That was that. Sandman is fat again..that's nice. I saw him in Los Angeles around 2001 and he was really skinny and looked nearly sick.

It's nice to see that Francine gaind some weight and has a kid now. Remember that one time that Francine showed her tits? I didn't see it, but RF Video had a vhs for sale, but alas...I never saw it.

Rhyno defeated Al Snow and Spike Dudley in a triple threat elimination match

Spike is slower now, and couldn't hang at a few moments in this match. Al Snow and Rhyno did a lot of the heavy lifting. Snow used Head during the match after a ref bump and Spike used a chair to try to get leverage, by throwing it at Al Snow ala Eddie Guerrero! Then Al snow pretended to be out. This match had a lot of dead spots, but eventually managed to have a good enough finish to get the crowd alive. Rhyno speared Spike and won, that was that. Not really a great match, and just a filler to me.

The Dudleys w/ Joel Gertner defeated Balls Mahoney & Axel Rotten

This match was hardcore, and nasty. There were a lot of unprotected head shots, lots of plunder, and another reason why maybe ECW wasn't all that great. There wasn't a whole lot of wrestling here, and just your average big man match with lots of weapons. It's a nice throwback, including tables and chairs and the likes, but come on, it wasn't all that great. Nice nostalgia piece at best, but it was just an ugly match. Oh and yes, they lit the table on fire and threw Balls Mahoney through it...yep.

Post match out came the Gangstas! New Jack and what I believe was Mustafa? Yep, New Jack was hitting anything that moved with stuff. I didn't care for this at all.

Raven defeated Tommy Dreamer w/ special guest referee Mick Foley

This match was terrible. It had a lot of slow points, lots of weapons. I believe LODI showed up or someone, I don't know. Some random dude hit a nice leg drop. The crowd started chanting Holy Shit at one point when Foley gave the mandible claw with barbed wire wrapped around his hand. I didn't hate it, but um...it was weird. raven handcuffed Tommy Dreamer, and thsi was a throwback to the chair shot heard round the world. This too was done by WWF with Mankind and The Rock...remember? Raven eventually won...but this match wasn't that great...I didn't like it. It was just pointless...whatever. Boring ass match. Beulah was there, that was cool.

RVD defeated SABU

Bill Alfonso at ringside

Sabu had his head shaved. RVD stalled a lot in this match to go outside and play up his older style. Maybe Sabu couldn't go that well, or maybe things were just not going well...I don't know. This match was slow moving and tired. Sabu and RVD did a nice match up for what it was, but it was painfully obvious that SABU is NOT in his prime and was having problems later in the match. A table finale after a string of extreme moves ended this one, and of course RVD goes over.

The show ended with a speech from Tommy Dreamer and a bunch of people in the ring.

Overall not the worst show ever, but it wasn't nearly as good as the ECW ppv's I actually did order back in the day. Oh well...I hope TNA made a few bucks or whatever was their plan for this, because it was an "ok" show at best.

ECW 7/29/2008 Review New Stuff

First and foremost, ECW doesn’t look like ECW at all anymore. There was huge pyro, a huge stage, and all sorts of stupidity for such an “extreme” show. Todd Grisham shows up and he is the new in ring announcer for ECW. That guy is one lucky son of a gun! He’s living my dream, that’s for sure.

Matt Hardy In Ring Segment:

What a lame segment. Matt Hardy can’t really talk on the mic, he has no charisma, although he’s a lot better than previous years, that’s for sure. I’m getting tired of seeing Mark Henry bending crap, it just seems stupid to me. I’m tired of seeing this already. Matt Hardy then says something to the effect of, inanimate objects don’t fight back, and no one cared. What a waste of time, ECW sucks now. Seriously, what happened to my favorite show? What happened to Paul Heyman? This piece of junk is lame.

One thing is for sure, Todd Grisham is amazing compared to Mike Adamle, and he already corrected Tazz! Awesome! Grisham is my guy…next to Joey Styles, I wish he would come back.

Ricky Ortiz defeated Chavo Guerrero via Disqualification

If you shaved Ricky Ortiz’s head he would look a lot like The Rock. He has the same facial bone structure. He lacks the charisma however. Chavo with another loss, and Bam once again just proved he’s the worst body guard of all time. Evan Bourne came out for the save after the match, but this really wasn’t all that great. In fact, this match was boring, and I’m sad to say that Chavo’s grounded offense is really lackluster. I really miss the times when Chavo was fast and could fly. It seems like the juice has made me a slower small wrestler, and his ground attack is not that strong at all. It’s stupid. The match was lame, and Ortiz looked weak throughout.

Backstage segment Collin Delaney:

Collin backstage is hilarious. He genuinely looks out of place, which is good for his character. He’s a horrible actor though. Matt Hardy will wrestle Collin tonight, and if he wins, he’ll be part of the posse backstage. Something tells me this isn’t going to fair well for Delaney. But at least he’s a major part of the show, that’s always good.

The Miz & John Morrison defeated Hornswoggle & Finlay

I’m so tired of seeing these guys wrestle. How many times have we seen this match up? It seems that the ECW roster, although some improvements thanks to the draft, just recycles all their matches and creates a cluster of stupid matches that they spoon feed us on a weekly basis. Do they think they are doing us any favors by showing the same stupid matches week in and week out. I hope this doesn’t mean that we’re going to see these guys go at it at Summerslam, because if this match is on the card, things are going to be really sad for me and the rest of the WWE fans out there that are tired of this match, it’s the same match they’ve been having all along and there is no story development in the ring or outside the ring. I think that maybe, in the long run, little Hornswoggle isn’t going to be at Finlay’s corner. Mike Knox runs in afterwards and confirms my suspicions by beating down Finlay, then looking at Hornswoggle as though he’s next. Knox sucks.

Matt Hardy and Walker Backstage:

Hardy cracks a “wildcat” joke, and a deadpan audience was drooling and not listening. Lame back stage segment.

Matt Hardy defeated Collin Delaney

No surprise here, this really was a lame duck of a match up. Delaney bumps like crazy for Matt Hardy, losing as usual. He gets worked over hard, and this match is just proving that Hardy can go, and Collin can bump. He really gets tossed around in this match up, and really doesn’t do much else. I don’t like how WWE gets these new talents, only to bury them. Some might call it paying dues, but come on, this is just getting ridiculous, but I guess it beats sitting in an office writing about wrestling.

Mark Henry annihilates Collin afterwards, throwing him over the top rope onto the floor.

ECW 7/29/2008 Quick Results:

Ricky Ortiz def. Chavo Guerrero (disqualification)
The Miz & John Morrison def. Finlay & Hornswoggle
Matt Hardy def. Colin Delaney

What happened to ECW? It just looks like another WWE show now, it doesn’t resemble anything like the old ECW and it’s not even Extreme. They might as well just give it up. It bores me to see how bad things have gotten. This whole show needs to get cancelled. There’s not a whole lot to this show, and not even the Divas were around to spice things up, even though I hate their wrestling, at least they are eye candy.

ECW was horrible.
