TNA Impact 11/19/09 Review

The show started with Abyss and Mick Foley coming down to the ring. There was some random frustrations talked about but that prompted Raven to come out with Doctor Stevie and of course more random yelling and what not. They set up a match, I am not interested; and after the break we get an interview with Styles and Angle arguing over the world title.

Amazing Red defeated Scott Steiner via dq

This match makes no major sense to me at all. Scott Steiner and Amazing Red is more than an obvious mis-match, and a potential to get Amazing Red hurt by Steiner’s sloppy wrestling. Steiner killed Red through the whole match, Red had no major offense, and when Steiner got tired he grabbed a lead pipe and cost himself the match.

Post match, Bobby Lashley ran down to save the day. This was a boring match, and pointless to me. Steiner doesn’t need to prove himself, it’s Lashley that needs to prove himself, after losing to Steiner at the ppv.

Kevin Nash and Erik Young had an interview…I’m sick of interviews on TNA….man this company needs to stop this B.S I’m sick of TNA.

The Motor City Machine Guns & Beer Money Inc. defeated The World Elite

Despite there being too many people in this match, and too many agendas to sift through, the guys in this match tried to make it more than a spot fest. It was hard to follow some of the action because there just is too much going on, and I hate the six sided ring. The World Elite lost control of this one several times, and eventually lost the match when Big Rob’s interference back fired. This match was too short, but had too many factions working and while one team one, it made no sense to me why it was moving the way it was. If you like spots, there were a lot here, but no where near a good match, it was just thrown together.

Hamada defeated Taylor Wilde

I’m a big fan of the TNA Knockouts for various reasons. This was quite a good match up, but it was pure Hamada. Hamada really brought her strong style Japanese wrestling style and took it to Taylor Wilde, proving yet again that you can be a good wrestler and not necessarily be a “diva”. Too bad WWE doesn’t care or watch this type of talent.

Abyss defeated Raven & Stevie Richards via disqualification

Mick Foley was supposed to be partners with Abyss, but at the start of this match, there was no Foley. Abyss started the match and was getting a good amount of offense in against these former ECW superstars. (can I call them superstars?) Anyways, this match featured a classic ECW throwback, and started out as a handicap match in a lot of ways. Mike Tenay saying “goozle” was just stupid. Abyss was doing an ok job facing both dudes, but it was obvious that Foley needed to be there to help out. Raven was trying to hit a fireball but it never worked out…the ref found the crap and disqualified Raven and Steven Richards, and this match went to the toilet. Tna sucks.

Post match Raven and Richards beat up Abyss, I got to stare at daffney and once again we hit commercial time….this is past the one hour mark, and yet no good wrestling outside of the knockouts.

Homicide was the guest on the ODB show. I hated this segment…man…TNA sucks.

Sarita defeated Alissa Flash

These two TNA knockouts are semi-new and I’ve seen them wrestle each other several times. They weren’t that good this time around. I’ve seen them do some great things in ring, but they just seemed tired in this match and it wasn’t that great. Sure they were better than any divas match I’ve seen this year, but it wasn’t up to snuff.

Post match Traci Brooks attacked Flash…I was bored.

Backstage Foley got choked out again by Doctor Stevie and Raven; once again Daffney was the best part for me.

Team 3D & Rhino defeated The Black Pope, Hernandez, and Matt Morgan

This match started out with a brawl, and then settled down a little with Bubba Ray and Hernandez getting this match going. The match immediately went into a spotfest with Hernandez flying through the air onto the outside. The Pope started throwing in a ton of plunder into the ring, and this thing was about to get interesting. This match wore thin fast, and the younger guys were taking control through the extreme rules match, but couldn’t muster up enough experience to miss going through tables, getting hit with 3D and more. The former Naval officer Jesse Neal showed up and helped get the win for the ECW alumni, in this wild extreme match up. Matt Morgan looked legit hurt after taking a bump where he leg dropped a blank table. It looked bad.

Christopher Daniels & Desmond Wolfe defeated Aj Styles & Kurt Angle

The main event this time around was interesting to say the least. It wasn’t much of a match, but it had enough gusto to keep me entertained. The match ups were distinct, each member wanting a shot at a particular wrestler. Styles seemed a bit over confident at times, and Angle just wanted a shot at Wolfe and it cost him. Wolfe was impressive in there, barely getting through Style’s attempts at winning, which would have worked on any other wrestler. Daniels helped get Wolfe out of trouble and ended up getting the pin after the Best Moonsault Ever. Overall, I didn’t hate this match, and it had enough to make it through the main event status, considering it was shorter than most main events in wrestling history.

TNA tries to entertain, but it still sucks. If Hogan is really going to make a difference, I hope he changes the six sided ring, and hopefully we get more wrestling instead of just random interviews and segments…Tna’s product is just subpar right now.
