WWE Smackdown 7/11/2008 Edge’s Revenge
Another great opening for Smackdown ruined by talking.
In Ring Segment:
Edge opens up the show. Edge talks about how he only liked Vickie to get ahead. He said he’s going to prove that he’s the greatest. He rants and raves, then Vickie comes out and tells him he has to face The Big Show. Then Vickie turns off Edge’s mic, and the segment ends.
Lame. I want more wrestling! Edge looks awesome though, he’s genuinely upset out there, and this can only mean good things.
Shelton Benjamin defeated Matt Hardy (U.S Champion)
This match was a great opening match up, and while it wasn’t for the U.S Title, Benjamin put on a real clinic. He wound up putting away Hardy in a shocker of a finish. Benjamin getting a push? This could be a great new thing, but I don’t think he’s going to get the title any time soon, unless he’s worked on his mic skills.
The match was really cool though. Had some high spots, landed a few standard moves, and right when you thought Hardy was going to get things on his side, Benjamin drops him.
Backstage Segment:
The Edgekins talk to Vickie, and tell her that she doesn’t deserve what she’s been getting. They ask for a match against Biscuits and Gravy.
Kennedy defeated Domino
Domino still employed by WWE? Now that’s a shocker. This match might as well have been a squash, as Kennedy knocked Domino out with his finisher. Not much of a wrestling match. Like I said, it was a squash. The Mic check is a great finisher, if you ask me.
MVP gets out of the broadcast booth, and distracts him, only for Umaga to come out and take out Kennedy with a kick and the Samoan spike! MVP looks on, laughing at what has just transpired.
Backstage segment:
Chavo Guerrero talks to Edge about how Vickie shouldn’t have done what she did, and claims he is going to solve Edge’s problems with Vickie. He says that he and Edge are like brothers. Hilarious, hilarious indeed.
Is Edge turning Face now?
Backstage segment:
Chavo interrupts Vickie. He then talks to Vickie on behalf of Edge, but not what he told Edge. He talks bad about Edge, and talks about how they are real family and not Edge. He stresses the term Family a lot and says that he is on her side.
Vickie tells Chavo to cut the crap and that she knows what’s up. She says that Chavo will face Triple H later on in the show.
John Morrison & The Miz vs. Finlay & Hornswoggle
Didn’t they already have this match at a pay per view? Man, I’m glad I didn’t pay for it, because here is the same exact match up on free television! The normal Finlay & Little Guy match happens here, embarrassing the tag team champions.
Triple H defeated Chavo Guerrero
This was nothing more than another glorified squash match. This match was a throwaway. Chavo just gets worked, and gets little offense in. Did anyone really think that Triple H would lose this match? This is just sad.
Natalya & Maryse defeated Cherry & Michelle McCool
Another squash match, and I wonder if Jim Ross is pulling some strings or something. These matches are really short. Natalya and Maryse dominated this match, and it ended with a Sharpshooter. It didn’t take long to win. Then Natalya attacked Michelle McCool.
The divas are trying really hard, but come on…they are nothing compared to the Knockouts, that’s for sure.
Biscuits and Gravy defeated Ryder and Hawkins
This was another horrible match. The Edge wannabe’s get counted out on purpose then beat down Jesse. Then Jesse goes out of the ring and hits the bell, and Festus beats the crap out of the two Edgekins and we get a horrible finish. This match sucked. Smackdown is beginning to suck.
Vladamir Koslov defeated Stevie Richards
Look at this! Another Koslov win, and another squash match. Smackdown was doing quite well and then totally started to be bad. Richards is still employed? Why? This match sucked, I wanted to go to sleep. There’s no reason to watch Smackdown anymore…if they are going to keep this horrible squash scenario up.
Backstage segment:
The Edgekins, Chavo, and Edge are all arguing backstage about Vickie Guerrero. Edge tries to calms everyone down and they end up arguing some more. Vickie interrupts and says that if anyone tries to help Edge, they would be fired. And if Edge doesn’t go out there and fight, he’ll get fired too.
The Big Show vs. Edge (No DQ) Ended in a No Contest
The Big Show totally killed Edge. Edge tried his best, but Show just threw the much smaller Edge and mopped up. Vickie Guerrero stopped the match, and all was well and hopefully for everyone who cares…the Wedding is back on.

This edition of Smackdown was horrible. I wasn't even that tired and I just knew that this one was not that good. There was a lot of squash matches, and a lot of fluff. Jim Ross and Foley are doing great together, and Jim Ross really makes Foley turn up the juice. If you missed this edition of Smackdown, don't worry, nothing worthwhile happened. This edition was probably one of the worst editions of Smackdown that I've seen in a long time.
