WCW Sin 2001 Review

WCW Sin 2001 PPV
Live From Indianapolis Indiana, where I am writing this today, we are going to look into the biggest events of WCW for 2001, since they were on their way out, and well, I wanted to review things overall. Let’s get into the action, and see how it all went down. WCW 2001, with all sorts of talent.

Chavo Guerrero Jr defeated Shane Helms in the WCW Cruiserweight Championship Match

This was a good opening match, featuring Chavo doing a lot more fast action, high flying work than he would do in WWE. Shane Helms was great here too, and as part of 3-Count, he really did well with fighting through a lot of different focused hits. There was some good back and forth here of course.

Reno defeated Big Vito

This was a good big man match. Lots of power moves, lots of back and forth, and in the end Reno go the win. It wasn’t a terrible match, but it was definitely one that was mostly a matter of big men, throwing big shots, and power moves. Fun for what it was.

The Jung Dragons defeated Evan Karagias and Jamie Noble

Man, this was fast, and quite fun to watch as well. It featured the young cruiserweight from the WCW call ups and it was fun to watch them go back and forth throughout the match. This was under 10 minutes, but it was fun to watch and the two threw out a lot of high spots, and classic small guy moves.

Team Canada defeated The Filthy Animals in a Penalty Box Match with Jim Duggan as a Ref

This was so much fun to watch, and I loved the concept of the Penalty Box, with Duggan calling it all down the middle. The guys really proved to be good workers, and I was even impressed with Konnan’s work here. Kidman and Mysterio were flying around the ring with Storm and Skipper, and Mike Awesome is a gem with this team. Major Gunns looked good, and I’m sure she’s as cold as ever since I recall hugging her in an XPW show.

Meng defeated Crowbar and Terry Funk in the WCW Hardcore Championship Match

This went immediately to the back and there was a lot of back and forth action here. It was a good match, with some great momentum here and there. I didn’t hate it, mind you, I thought that the guys put on an ok match with Funk throwing down some great shots against Meng and Crowbar for that matter. Meng would get the win, and took a lot of chair shots to the head, which were cringe worthy.

Chuck Palumbo and Sean O’Haire defeated The Insiders in the WWE tag Team Match

This was a hard hitting match and was impressive if you ask me. Palumbo and O’Haire were good here and DDP was fighting like he had something to prove. Page and Nash worked well together, and the crowd was incredibly hot for this. The crowd was going nuts for each iteration of this match. I must also say that Tony Schiavone was great here with some great calls. When Kevin Nash got the hot tag, he took out both competitors, but out of the blue came out Buff Bagwell and Lex Luger, which prompted the new guys to win the tag team titles. Buff came in dressed up and had a pipe! This got a lot of heat, and it was a great match even if it ended with cheating. The crowd went nuts booing.

Shane Douglas defeated General E Rection for the US Championship in a Chain Match

This was a hard hitting, crazy match with Shane Douglas getting beat up a lot, but eventually would get a helping hand in knocking out E Section with a chain. This was a first blood chain match, and it ended with Douglas cheating and getting the win, which was one hell of a brawl overall. Good stuff here, and I enjoyed it. Hard hitting, the crowd was into it, and that’s always nice.

Lex Luger and Buff Bagwell defeated Goldberg and Sarge

This was one hell of a match folks. It had Goldberg getting a lot of attention first, then things started to go downhill as Luger and Bagwell would cheat to get the win. They would isolate Sarge then after a fan interaction that seemed to spray Goldberg with something, he got beat down from Buff and Luger and that was that. Good fight, nice work, and honestly, the crowd was into it, until Luger and Buff would get the win.

Scott Steiner defeated Sid Vicious, Jeff Jarrett, and a Mystery Opponent

The story of this match was that Ric Flair had a mystery man that was going to come down and beat up Scott Steiner. However, the bigger story was that Jeff Jarrett and Steiner were working together against Sid Vicious. Sid would break his leg in this match, and the WWE Network doesn’t show it, so make sure you look for the official release if you want to see the unedited version. The Mystery Opponent showed up and it was none other than Roadwarrior Animal! It was not half bad, but the match was rushed, and left the crowd a bit dead. It ended quickly, the credits rolled, and Steiner kept his title yet again.

Overall, I would give this a C rating for the overall matches and crowd. It wasn’t bad, or as terrible as people think, but it wasn’t amazing either. It had some good matches in the undercard, and lots of shenanigans, with a hot crowd. I didn’t hate it.

Monday Night Raw From Indianapolis 6/23/2015 – The Brock Lesnar 3 Hour Showcase

SRC - WWE.com
It has started! Or rather, I have started! I was able to watch the full 3 hour showcase of Raw last night. The crew was live from Indianapolis, Indiana. That’s where I now reside! That’s right suckers, I live in Indianapolis where WWE was live from! As per usual, I am not going to comment on everything that happened, but rather the highlights that I liked.

Kane is All Over The Place

I am not the biggest Kane fan. I just am not. However, he was all over this show. The match between himself and Dean Ambrose was really cool, in my view. Ambrose is really flowing through his matches with ease. However, Kane won this fairly quickly in the end with a nice set of choke slam spots. I’m not sure Kane should be going over, but I guess that’s the end of the Ambrose world title push? I didn’t see the ladder match, I was moving.

Kevin Owens Should Win The U.S. Title, But May Not

I do not know what they are going to do with Owens. Owens has been built very strong so far. Losing to John Cena with the U.S. title on the line is not something I can see going down. I can see Samoa Joe jump into the mix and help Cena retain, setting up a triple threat for the U.S. Title, so watch out for that. I can also see Cena turning Heel, which I think is 5 years too late. I’d love to see the master of Thuganomics back into the game. This was an ok segment though, I liked it enough.

The Prime Time Players Coming Into Their Own

The Ascension is done, right? I can’t believe there is anywhere to go here, and it’s definitely something that you may be thinking too. The Prime Tim Players are fast, and really entertaining. There are some subtle things that they do in ring that is definitely worth your time to watch. I like the team work they display, and you’re going to enjoy the match on a lot of levels, in my view. I liked this one, it was fast, to the point and once again proves that the Prime Time Players are ready for the big time, oh and of course they are champions after all.

Wasted Roman Reigns and Sheamus Match

This match was good. Sheamus used some brilliant counters to make this seem “real”. The psychology of the match really shown through here. However, the match was abruptly stopped when Reigns was into a mind games filled element with Wyatt. Whatever, I could’ve used without this.

The Filler of Neville, Backstage Authority, Kofi Kingston, The Divas, Adam Rose and More

I had to wash to the dishes during these moments, but my wife said I didn’t miss much. She did say that Neville was a troll looking dude, but is really good at flips. Kingston’s match against Brock Lesnar should be interesting. These are wasted moments for a 3 hour show though, not enough time is given to these guys wrestling, and that’s an issue. I did like the R-Truth segment where he said we need to free Little Jimmy, that was great.

Ryback versus The Big Slow

One major website said that Big Show wrestled Mark Henry, which wasn’t true. It was Ryback who wrestled and beat Henry. Henry sucks. Show is stupid, this feud is stupid, I don’t want to see it. Ryback doesn’t deserve such a boring partner to work with. Plus, where was Miz? Oh right, in Florida. They are building a feud with 3 guys, one of which isn’t even there! Stupid booking decision.

Brock Lesnar, Bork Lazer, and An Injured Jamie Noble

This was a good thing. Jamie Noble, I hear was injured. However, the rest of the night with Brock Lesnar getting showcased as a real contender was good to see. He’s a monster. However, I can’t suspend disbelief too much. Remember, Seth Rollins before was able to take the German Suplex and reverse it! What happened this time around? He out of nowhere stopped knowing how to counter that? That’s what made me excited to see Rollins versus Lesnar. Now? I don’t know.

Indianapolis was a hot crowd at times, and dead at others. I had fun, 3 hours is a lot of show though. I don’t want to sit there for so long and not see enough wrestling. The show’s editing is horrendous at times, the pacing is bad, and well, not a great showcase. However, it is what it is, and I’ll take whatever wrestling I can.

If you’re going to get anything WWE Related, do so by going to AMAZON.com here, and save. It helps me keep the cable on, and reviewing wrestling. I’ll have more reviews coming, and hoping I can catch TNA, ROH, and Lucha Underground etc. We’ll see what happens.

WWE Monday NIght Raw 11/2/09 Results and Review Ozzie and Sharon Osbourne Host

WWE Monday Night Raw 11/2/09 Results

The Miz defeated Evan Bourne in the United States Championship Match
Jamie Noble defeated Sheamus via disqualification
Mark Henry, MVP, and Kofi Kingston defeated Randy Orton & Legacy
Alicia Fox won a Divas Battle Royal
Chris Jericho defeated John Cena and The Big Show in a triple threat match

WWE Monday Night Raw 11/2/09 Review

The show immediately began with Sharon and Ozzie Osbourne in ring, getting quite an ovation. Then out came the Miz and he had some complaints about his countout loss, but he was interrupted by Legacy, and they wanted retribution for their gift to Orton. However, they were interrupted by The Big Show, who also had some gripes; but that of course wasn’t the end all. The Big Show was interrupted by Degeneration X and Triple H was plugging Ozzie’s new book and Dx’s new book as well.

Ozzie Osbourne called Evan Bourne “Evan Brawn” which was laughable to me…once again they screw things over.

The Miz defeated Evan Bourne in the United States Championship Match

The title was on the line in this match up and I thought it was about time we started seeing title defenses on Raw. The Miz started this match with a lot of hard offense, trying to prove that he’s no joke in the ring, and that he is in fact “Awesome”. However, Evan Bourne wasn’t going to just lay down and he started to reverse things and hit some awesome spots right away, and this thing took a turn I didn’t see coming. In fact, The Miz was reeling for a good portion of this match, and Evan Bourne just kept hitting all his high spots, even when The Miz would reverse things. Bourne went for the Shooting Star Press, and that’s when things finally curtailed, The Crushing Finale of sorts (Miz’s finisher) was hit and Bourne’s title shot was done. The Miz edges out another victory.

Jamie Noble defeated Sheamus via disqualification

Once again, Jamie Noble was back on Raw, for what seemed like another burial. I still can’t believe Jamie Noble is still employed, seriously, I said that last week, but come on, you know this is true right? Noble is just punching bag at this point, and had no major offense to speak of. He’s in a lower class of jobbers at this point and will most likely be released in the near future. Sheamus keeps beating Jamie Noble and gets disqualified for his efforts….this is no way to make a villain, sorry.

Randy Orton vs Kofi Kingston

Wow, they’re giving this match away? I thought for sure this would build into a ppv caliber match or a set up for the next ppv, at least that’s how the WWE used to do things. Now they’re just like the old wcw, giving the good stuff away, and getting less and less ppv buys. Kofi took this match into his own hands and started off like a house on fire, just continually pummeling Orton in the early goings of this match. Legacy ran down to help Orton, but Kofi launched himself like a missile straight at his enemies, and this forced the match to change…into a six man tag!

Mark Henry & MVP joined the match to help even the odds!

Mark Henry, MVP, and Kofi Kingston defeated Randy Orton & Legacy

After the break this match took off into a classic six man tag team match up. It wasn’t that boring, and it didn’t play like the normal six man tags in main events. The match broke down into lots of spots, with good crowd reaction, and more importantly entertaining moments. Rhodes trying to take on Mark Henry was classic, and it cost him. Henry nearly broke Cody Rhodes in half with the World’s Strongest Slam, and won the match up for his team. Up to this point I was bored, but this match made me wake up a little. I liked it.

At this point we had a talent show of sorts, beginning with none other than Santino…trying to sing Bark at the Moon…but he changed it up. He then tried to bite the head off of a Bat….BATMAN toy! It was classic Santino, and well…the highlight of the talent show! Until Hornswoggle came out dressed as Jack Osbourne! Hilarious to say the least…yeah what a lame talent show…waste of time!

Alicia Fox won a Divas Battle Royal

At this point there was a divas battle royal match and the participants were…everyone? The wwe kind of threw this one together and it showed, because the divas were either in a corner biding their time or hitting very lightly to make the time pass a little bit, meanwhile this thing was boring the crowd too. Jack Swagger came down to ringside, distracting some random chick. Alicia Fox and Kelly Kelly were the last two left, which was a real shame! Alicia Fox however, somehow won this match…and is now the #1 contender to the divas title! Seriously, this is just sad.

Chris Jericho defeated The Big Show & John Cena in a triple threat match

Once again the WWE pushes the envelope of “Superman” is John Cena by having John Cena wrestle two men. Dx on commentary was good, however, Triple H kept trying to crack jokes about the business and break the fourth wall and really make lame attempts at being funny, it wasn’t working 90% of the time, but hey…that’s Triple H for ya. The Big Show and Jericho were just working John Cena throughout this match up with ease. There apparently were no rules either, because this thing was looking terrible for Cena. The match started to get really interesting when Big Show and Jericho could no longer coexist and made for quite the match up, leaving Cena to fight Big Show on his own. Cena went for the Attitude Adjustment but failed to execute, causing the Big Show to nearly take out Cena just by his weight alone! Cena got a second wind, what a surprise, and started to get the crowd going. After a five knuckle shuffle, this thing looked like it was on rails, predictable as ever. He got Jericho up for the Attitude Adjustment and got near the ropes, but that’s where Big Show came in with a huge right hand to Cena! Cena dropped like a fly and Jericho fell on top of him for the pinfall victory.

Post match Jericho and Big Show beat up Cena some more. Then Dx jumped in for the save, and that was the end of that. Meaning that Jericho and Big Show beat up Dx.

Raw wasn’t half bad tonight, seriously, I liked it more than I should have.

WWE Monday Night Raw 6/8/09 Results and Review Batista Reigns

WWE Monday Night Raw 6/8/09 Results

Kofi Kingston defeated William Regal (non title)
Maryse defeated Kelly Kelly
Goldust, Festus, and Santino defeated Jamie Noble, The Kendrick, and Chavo Guerrero
MVP defeated Matt Hardy
Legacy defeated The Colons (non title)

WWE Monday Night Raw 6/8/09 Review

We get some quick recap from last night and Batista’s big win, as he is the new champion. We then get straight to the show with the new WWE champion Batista. Orton came down to ringside and Legacy tried to ambush him, and it seemed like he had things under control until a chair came into play and the numbers game caught up with Batista. The guys put Batista’s arm in a metal chair than kicked it! It was pretty messed up, and it looked like they were deliberately trying to break Batista’s wrist/arm.

Why not? I like this opening, they should have more beat downs.

Kofi Kingston defeated William Regal (non title)

I hate non title matches. They make no sense to me. What they should do is have tournaments and winning streaks, rather than random winners and losers. Kofi Kingston had a fast match with Regal, Regal had no time to hit any of his signature submissions, and Kingston mopped up with ease in this fast match up.

Maryse defeated Kelly Kelly

This match was ok at best, there was a few moments that made me think that these girls are improving, but they were just fleeting moments really. The ending came when I wasn’t even looking with Maryse tying this match up nicely and winning yet again with ease against Kelly Kelly, who seems to get more title shots than any other diva on the roster.

Goldust, Festus, and Santino defeated Jamie Noble, The Kendrick, and Chavo Guerrero

This match was hilarious, I guess a comedy match isn’t too bad. It is too bad that Festus has to have that dumb gimmick because he has some serious talent. Goldust is also impressive, he launched out of the corner with such a fury, it was nice to see him get a shot at wrestling, even if it was short lived. That being said, the bad guys were tagging in so fast, that the match started out like a blaze of glory, rather than a serious match up. That’s obviously, the key here, to get in there fast and furious. The match took a great turn when Santino pulled one out of the hat for the win! Once again proving that Kendrick is still employed, but not winning or getting that push that we all thought he was getting earlier this year. Maybe he too should’ve been fired with Paul London, they are both doing about the same thing, at least in my book.

The Miz and John Cena’s match up never really happened. The Big Show beat up Cena, then The Miz came around and mopped up Big Show. I don’t know where this is going, but alas….it was a good mid main event? I don’t know…I didn’t hate it, but I didn’t necessarily like it either.

MVP defeated Matt Hardy

I would usually say I’m tired of these matches because I’ve seen them wrestle so many times before. However, Hardy has a cast now, so I guess it’s ok, right? Right. The match was your standard between these two, and you gotta give Hardy some serious credit for wrestling with that cast, fake or not. MVP put up a nice match up and an otherwise easy win! MVP is definitely BALLIN! Try it, it’s fun!

Vickie Guerrero QUIT being General Manager of Raw, at least she quit!

Legacy defeated The Colons (non title)

If ever there was a nice tag team match on Raw it was this one. The tag team champions really were in a bind against the younger, more focused team. They seemed out matched for the first time in a long time when Legacy kept attacking at all fronts, keeping the Colons from getting a tag, and looking like they really were disciples of Randy Orton and not just some cronies that the WWE threw together for better ratings. The match isolated Primo towards the end and with a nice cobra clutch slam Ted Dibiase picked up the win for his team, and the Colons’ might be on their way to losing their titles to a much younger, up and coming team. I hope they don’t split the Colons’ for single wrestling glory.

The end of Raw featured Orton at ringside waiting for Batista to answer the call and if he did, things would be alright cause the rematch clause would be in tact. This of course was at 10:56 pm, so they were rushing things fast.

Randy Orton started a match up and waited for Batista to come down, but nothing seemed to happen. Then an Ambulance seemed to show up, and inside that ambulance was?

TRIPLE H! YEP TRIPLE H was at the Ambulance and not BATISTA! That's right, TRIPLE H!

The return of the all dominant TRIPLE H with sledgehammer, and the crowd was going nuts. So much for Batista to come back right?

Are you guys ready for the reign of Triple H? Triple H in just showing up immediately was holding down the roster! Within minutes Triple H beat up legacy, within seconds, and then ripped his shirt off! Orton and The game started to brawl inside the ring and the whole WWE's roster knew it was time to settle in to get held down by The Game's writing style. Orton was getting tore up, and for a guy who just showed up out of the blue Triple H was PWNING Orton, who was just yesterday the CHAMPION!

I'm not sure how many more jokes I can make about Triple H holding down the roster before someone laughs, but come on, you gotta admit...the roster immediately was held down upon his appearance, you know that's true, right?

First we had Flair in a street fight and now we had Triple H beating up Orton into the crowd and in a street fight. What about Batista? Is he written off the show because now The Game takes over? Too much speculation is going on for my own good.

Orton got a face full of chair, and Triple H was going to town with that thing. I noticed that the main/hard camera kept shaking, which was odd.

Raw ended with a massive pedigree from Triple H on Orton onto a steel chair, and I had to go to bed.

WWE Monday Night Raw 4/27/09 Results and Review Orton Era Round 2

WWE Monday Night Raw 4/27/09 Results

Kofi Kingston defeated The Brian Kendrick
Santina, Kelly Kelly, Brie Bella, Mickie James defeated Jillian, Maryse, Beth Phoenix, Eva Mendez
Matt Hardy defeated Goldust
MVP vs. Randy Orton ended in a No Contest when Shane McMahon interfered
The Colons defeated Chavo Guerrero & Jamie Noble
Batista defeated The Big Show by countout

WWE Monday Night Raw 4/27/09 Review

The show opened up with Randy Orton and Priceless coming down to the ring, with the title belt as he is the new WWE Champion. Orton got on the mic and put everyone on notice, and right in the middle of his speech, MVP came out to interrupt him! That’s right MVP! MVP just got a huge push in my book as he got on the mic and was confident and overall great, the crowd was behind him, and this was a great start to the first Raw after Backlash. MVP will wrestle Orton, and this was new to me. MVP getting a push? Wow.

Kofi Kingston defeated The Brian Kendrick

The Brian Kendrick and Kofi Kingston was a stellar match up. These two were putting on a good fast paced show. There was a little bit of everything in this math, a little bit of mat wrestling, some great high flying action, and awesome counters from Kofi, as we finally got a taste of what the lighter guys could do in the ring. Kofi Kingston gets the win, even though Kendrick had some great offense in this match, sadly, The Kendrick is knocked down a peg, on his Raw debut.

Santina, Kelly Kelly, Brie Bella, Mickie James defeated Jillian, Maryse, Beth Phoenix, Eva Mendez

There was a little bit of comedy during this match with Hornswoggle and the Bella twins playing up comedy. Santina rolled up Jillian for the win, and this match was just a throwaway filler match, with no worthwhile action at all. It must be nice to be a wwe diva right now, you don’t have to wrestle, just stand at ringside as Santina wins with ease.

Matt Hardy defeated Goldust

At this point, I was tired. I get up at 4:30 am and watch Raw to review it, and was out of it. However, out came Goldust! That’s right, GOLDUST! I marked out huge for Goldust as he was set to wrestle Matt Hardy! Matt Hardy was out there with a cast on and he knocked out Goldust for the win. This match was terrible. It was a loss for Goldust, just a jobber match with Goldust in it. Lame.

MVP vs. Randy Orton ended in a No Contest when Shane McMahon interfered

MVP had this match “Ballin”! It was great to see the Champion getting worked over as MVP was getting some great shots in. Right before a commercial break MVP hit a huge kick, knocking Orton outside of the ring and it looked bad. Orton had MVP down and roughly nearly out after the break. So the tides turn, Orton was then applying rest holds for the continuation. I do believe this is the first time a secondary champion was given credit for his position. MVP made such a great move in this match up, nearly defeating the champion at several moments. Seriously, he had Orton down and nearly put away. He even hit the “Ballin” elbow, only for a 2 count; if nothing else this match was just a great entertaining piece of wrestling. Orton capitalized on some mistakes made by MVP, but right when things were picking up well, out came Shane McMahon from the crowd with a KENDO STICK! McMahon attacked Orton until the stick broke, then climbed to the top rope and hit a huge elbow drop, the rest of legacy came running down, but were too late.

As for MVP, he was on the outside f the ring, and the match was thrown out. I guess it s a double dq? No contest? I don’t know, the WWE never tells you what’s going on. MVP looked amazing in this match, I hope he gets a title shot and wins down the road, because he has that special extra talent, he has “it”.

The Miz challenged John Cena, and when Cena didn’t show up, declared himself the winner. This segment was lame.

The Colons defeated Chavo Guerrero & Jamie Noble

Usually I’m all about these tag team matches, but I hate how Chavo and Noble, two amazing competitors, just get thrown together for seemingly no apparent reason. I don’t like how this turned out, even though the match wasn’t all that bad overall. The Colon’s didn’t have an easy time winning, but they made the ending look easy, despite the great offense from Guerrero and Noble.

Batista defeated The Big Show

This match was mostly Big Show. Batista got a few shots in, but it was Batista that got the assist from John Cena. John Cena was at the ramp and caused Big Show to get counted out allowing Batista to go to Judgment Day for the big title match against Randy Orton.

After the dust settled this night of wrestling wasn’t all that good. They are setting up things for the future, and it is nice to see Cena and Triple H not in the spotlight, for a change. We’ll see how the WWE takes this forward.

ECW on Sci Fi 3/17/09 Results and Review

ECW is usually the best show that WWE puts out, they make it concise, to the point and have a lot of wrestling in a short amount of time.

Shelton Benjamin & Mark Henry defeated Christian & MVP

Why even have the U.S Championship still in possession of Benjamin? No one cares about that title, at all. Seriously, no one seems to care about that, and only now does anyone care about the intercontinental champion, due to JBL winning it from Punk. Christian was the most impressive in this math, as he really made MVP step a little during the match up too! He even hit Tony Atlas really hard off the apron, but it was Shelton Benjamin with the Pay Dirt getting the pinfall on Christian! Looks like Christian’s comeback is officially over, huh?

Evan Bourne defeated Jamie Noble

If I were booker, I’d have Noble defeat Evan Bourne, spinning him into a losing streak, then defeating Tyson Kidd later down the road. However, I’m not booker. Evan Bourne isn’t missing a step, and the best part about this match is actually Jamie Noble’s pitbull like attack on grounding the high flyer. Evan Bourne won with a perfect shooting star press, and it might be arguable that it was better than when Billy Kidman used to do it in WCW.

Finlay defeated Paul Burchill

Finlay and Burchill put on a good heavy handed match up. Finlay was hitting hard in this match and was in full control for the most part. Finlay hit his finisher and Burchill was out cold! Finlay wins again, creating another good overall match for ECW. The Celtic Cross was hit and it was all over.

The show ended with the dirt sheet, which was kind of dumb. It must be nice to be a hot girl, because you can get a job in wwe and stand there looking dumb. The dirt sheet was funny, that’ for sure. But I was too tired to care. The best thing about the ending of this show was the announcement that there will be a unified tag team championship. That of course at Wrestlemania.

WWE Monday Night Raw 2/17/09 Results and Review

We start off the show with Vickie Guerrero introducing Edge as the new World Heavyweight Champion, to a chorus of boos from the disappointed audience. I still can’t believe that Edge won the title at No Way Out. John Cena joined them talking about rematch, and that made me cringe a little. I do remember the two wrestling or a year straight in a variety of gimmick matches.

Shane McMahon called out Randy Orton to an unsanctioned fight before the first commercial break.

Priceless & William Regal defeated C.M Punk & Cryme Tyme

This match had an interesting dynamic between Regal and Punk. The two were fighting each other tooth and nail, and the other team mates just kind of stood by on the apron. By the time Cryme Tyme came into this match up, I knew what was going on. Another burial of Cryme Tyme as Priceless picks up the victory in this match up. It wasn’t too bad, but it was just weird to see how this went down. I wasn’t too impressed with this match at all, and felt that the wwe could’ve given us a better match. However, the Regal and Punk feud is going to boil once again with another great match up sooner than later. Maybe Regal can bring back those brass knuckles he had back a couple of years before.

Chris Jericho came out to give a speech about Mickey Rourke but was interrupted by none other than Rowdy Roddy Piper, that’s right, Roddy Piper on Raw live; but that prompted Chris Jericho to sock Piper in the face. This was a good segment, but I’m not sure where this is all going, Jericho is seriously getting heat, but who’s going to shut him up? I’m not sure what’s going on with Jericho but he has to the most hated man in wrestling right now.

Kane defeated Jamie Noble

This was hilarious. Jamie Noble actually tried to fight Kane, but he was severely mismatched and was thrown nearly through the ring with a chokeslam. This match was fast and over before Noble could do anything. Why even keep him on the roster?

Mike Knox defeated Rey Mysterio Jr.

I knew this was going to go this route. Mysterio put on a good overall show, and he did have Mike Knox cornered and looking wobbly a few times. However, Knox was just overpowering a lot of the times and I thought for sure he would defeat Mysterio in this one. However, Knox rammed his shoulder into the ring post and Mysterio took advantage with a roll up, winning this match! I thought for sure Knox had Mysterio’s number in this one, but something ended up going well for him this time.

Melina defeated Beth Phoenix

This match was terrible. Seriously, this was one of the worst matches I’ve ever seen. The divas didn’t have a good match at all. Melina eventually won with a roll up, after the rest of the divas attacked Santino at ring side. With Beth Phoenix distracted Melina rolled her up and it was over.

Randy Orton defeated Shane McMahon in an unsanctioned street fight

Randy Orton was getting taking a lot of damage in this fight. McMahon was all over him, and was doing everything he could to maul the former Champion. Orton didn’t get much in early on and even towards the middle of the match up was not in control. The end of this fight came with Priceless coming down and helping Randy Orton out, but it got worse when Randy Orton punted Shane McMahon to oblivion and he couldn’t continue any longer. Then Randy Orton hit Stephanie McMahon with the RKO! That’s right folks, after all was said and done RANDY ORTON HIT STEPHANIE MCMAHON with a picture perfect RKO! This prompted Triple H to run down and clear the ring to check in on Stephanie. Is this going to prompt a Triple H vs. Randy Orton match at Wrestlemania? I think so.

ECW 2/3/09 Results and Review Swagger Finlay Continue

I watched this half asleep. I work full time, and try to review wrestling at the same time, meanwhile working on seven other blogs about random topics. I’m definitely stretching myself thin, and I’m not making any extra cash doing it…oh well. That’s not why I started, but whatever.

ECW kicked things off in traditional fashion with the same old crap.

Paul Burchill defeated Tommy Dreamer

Tommy Dreamer came out to try and impress the crowd, and even though they are firmly behind the underdog here, they do not help him overall. Burchill landed his finishing move, the neck breaker, and Tommy Dreamer is out cold and loses yet again. This was all Dreamer until the neck breaker, which is sad on a lot of different accounts. I don’t even know what to tell you in regards to this one, it wasn’t that fun to watch, as I remember when Tommy Dreamer was relevant in the old ECW. Maybe we’ll see a classic Tommy Dreamer match up tomorrow, in our “throwback” Thursdays segment.

The Boogeyman defeated Jamie Noble

Did anyone see this one coming? Yep. The Boogeyman defeated Jamie Noble in a throwaway match up. Jamie Noble got worked, and although there were a few moments of lucidity, the majority of the match was spent with Boogey knocking out Jamie Noble long enough to win this match. Jamie Noble is still employed? Yeah, apparently so.

Finlay defeated Jack Swagger

Swagger finally gets his first loss and it was at the hands of Finlay! That’s right Jack swagger put up a good fight against Finlay, but at the end of the match up, it was all Finlay. Finlay had Hornswoggle interfere to help him out, and the Celtic Cross proved too much for the All American American Jack Swagger! That’s right, Jack Swagger defeated by Finlay on ecw! Swagger is NO longer undefeated! WOOO!

ECW 10/7/08 Review and Results

ECW was in Spokane Washington last night, just 4 hours away from me, and it had quite the main event scheduled, and we open up the show with Finlay.

Tommy Dreamer & Finlay defeated Jack Swagger & Mike Knox

I can’t believe that the commentators were saying that Tommy Dreamer is one of the toughest guys in Ecw. Isn’t this the same Tommy Dreamer that is losing every week to random new guys? Early on Finlay and Dreamer really took Knox to the limits, with tandem moves, and everything that Tommy Dreamer has in his move set. We’re talking running bulldogs, hard clotheslines, suplexes and neck breakers, trying to make sure that he keeps job. He even jumps off the ring apron onto Swagger who was on the outside. This was short lived however, as Knox knocked out Dreamer to the outside and we get commercial! When we come back from the break, Knox was in there to full effect and things are going good for the bad guys. This too was fast because one minute or so later Finlay got the hot tag and was cleaning house, creating quite the momentum in this match. He picked up Knox on his shoulders and delivered the rolling slam, and I thought for sure this thing was over, but Swagger came in for the save. Meanwhile Hornswoggle did the tadpole splash on Knox, Finlay hit him in the head with the shalaly, and wins the match for his team.

A promo was shown for the Boogeyman, who is returning soon to Ecw. Why not? Hopefully he’s improved a little in his time off from the ring.

Mark Henry defeated Jamie Noble

Mark Henry basically killed Jamie Noble. I’m not sure why they pay Noble to just get the crap kicked out of him, because that’s all I ever see with the guy. He’s a good cruiserweight if the wwe would just give him a chance to sign. It’s stupid to see this crap, another squash match and Mark Henry is supposed to look like a real monster, but he doesn’t do that for me. He just looks like an idiot to me, because Noble is less than half his size.

John Morrison, Ted Dibiase, Cody Rhodes, and The Miz defeated CM Punk, Ricky Ortiz, Kofi Kingston, and Evan Bourne

This match was definitely good, and it got a lot of time given to it to develop. Immediately the good guys were getting in all their spots, and things were looking great. Each guy was doing his moves, but after the good guys cleared the ring, we went to commercial break. When we got back from the break, Ted Dibiase had Evan Bourne in one heck of a predicament, and for once, I started to actually see Dibiase for the talent he’s got. He actually can wrestle, and unlike Cody, I think Dibiase could have a long career as a second generation superstar. They worked over Bourne a lot, and he wasn’t looking too hot during the middle of this match up. The end of the match came when the ring was getting cleared out, and the high fliers were all jumping out of the ring onto the heels. This left Cm Punk and Morrison fighting inside, and after a distraction from Manu, Punk was pinned and it was all over! Good match, fast paced and relevant. These young guys are really the future if they can continue to develop their in ring promo's and continue to put on good matches every week.

Ecw 10/7/08 Results

Tommy Dreamer & Finlay defeated Jack Swagger & Mike Knox
Mark Henry defeated Jamie Noble
John Morrison, Ted Dibiase, Cody Rhodes, and The Miz defeated CM Punk, Ricky Ortiz, Kofi Kingston, and Evan Bourne

ECW had three matches, and it was worth it. Grisham said something that was awesome too, "The Jamaican's getting high!" as Kofi leaped off the top rope onto the outside, great stuff. I liked Ecw a lot.

WWE Raw 10/6/08 Results and Review

I was at the Key Arena last night for Raw in person! Lillian Garcia looks amazing, wow, she’s hot. The arena was near capacity, but it’s a small place. I was on tv, sitting next to the Filipino flag that was being held up in front of the hard camera. The place was great, the show was awesome, and Jericho looked really tore up, as did HBK. The divas aren’t as bad as they look on television, and their wrestling matches were enjoyable in person, of course I recorded Raw and here is my review…I will also drop in notes from what I saw at the show, and those notes will be in italics for you to notice.

Dark Match #1

Dolph Ziggler defeated Charlie Haas (Dressed as Roddy Piper)

This match was cool for the live crowd, I thought Roddy Piper was really going to show up, but instead it was Charlie Haas. A good bit of comedy happened, and it wasn’t half bad, and Ziggler gets the pin, although it was really ugly. He reversed the Sleeperhold via kicking off the top rope, however, it just didn’t work out well, and Haas lost anyways.

Jericho’s opening speech was cool, and his face really looked messed up, even from where I was sitting (11 rows from the ring) and Batista’s spear was really effective, from my standing point.

Santino & Beth Phoenix defeated Mickie James & Jamie Noble

Santino showing off his Oklahoma Thunder shirt really hurt us in Seattle, considering that we lost the Sonics to Oklahoma. Santino got booed out of the building, and I lost my voice booing so much!

This match was quick, and easy. Beth Phoenix is amazing in person, she’s built and she’s not bad on the eyes either. The match was fast, and I nearly missed the finish, with Santino rolling up Jamie Noble after being distracted by the glamazon. Afterwards, Santino was chased by Noble only to get William Regal involved and nearly dismantle noble with blows. The crowd started chanting “Fight, Fight, Fight” and eventually the ref stopped the onslaught, as Regal really looked upset.

HBK’s segment initial cheers, but in the arena all eyes were on Noble and Regal in the arena.

Ted Dibiase Jr. defeated Kofi Kingston

Kofi got a moderate pop in the arena, and Priceless got nearly nothing, and it almost seemed like no one cared. C.M. Punk got a huge ovation when he came out, and was definitely more over than anyone else at ringside during this match up.

This match was swift, these two guys are really good in ring. Live things look a lot better, and I can’t believe how high Kofi Kingston can jump. He really gives it all, and reminds me of a non drug using RVD. Ted Dibiase’s finisher is awesome, and when he slapped on the Million Dollar Dream, I was cheering, that’s for sure. Ted Dibiase wins with his combination Million Dollar Dream/ Russian Leg Sweep, which is not a bad finisher if you ask me.

Mark Henry & Kane defeated Matt Hardy & Rey Mysterio Jr.

Hardy got a great pop, Rey not so much. The heels weren’t exactly too hated, and while there was a lot of boo’s there wasn’t nearly as much as I thought there would be. In fact, there was a lot of fan fare for Kane. Hardy got the best pop out of the four men.

This match was interesting, seeing Hardy work on Mark Henry’s leg. It was also cool to see Rey Mysterio’s onslaught in this match. He looked good out there, and was good at selling last night’s chair shot to the head. He didn’t miss a step live, and I was impressed with all four men, as this match was really entertaining to me. Kane won this match with a chokeslam on Hardy as Rey Mysterio was outside the ring. Hardy was knocked off the top rope via Rey Mysterio’s accidental bump, and Kane capitalized. The cheers sound louder on television then they were in the arena, that’s for sure. Great fast tag team match, and it was nice to see.

HBK Shawn Michaels defeated Lance Cade

HBK got a huge ovation, but nearly no reaction for Lance Cade. People went nuts for the ending to this match up.

Lance Cade and HBK put on a mediocre match, and it was interesting to see the way this one unfolded, considering that Shawn Michaels had a hell of a match last night. The table spot was too fast, and was just filler, in my opinion. The match really needed more “no dq” action as this match was supposedly no dq. Shawn Michaels won this one with a million chair shots to Lance Cade. That was about it, Cade really didn’t look good in this match, and I’m surprised that he didn’t win this one. Oh well.

The Great Khali’s segment was lame. Him running off the Jackass show was stupid to me. Inviting Johnny Knoxville to raw will only have Knoxville getting beat up. Sad. Lillian getting kissed by Khali made me a little jealous, haha, she’s hot.

Kelly Kelly defeated Jillian

These girls actually put on a good show in person. I liked the divas in wwe for once in my life. I can’t believe this! I usually hate the divas too, but seeing them perform live, gave me a new found respect for them. This match was the standard divas match with Kelly winning in the end.

Post match Cryme Tyme was dancing in ring with Kelly and invited Michael Cole off camera. On commentary Cryme Tyme, Miz and Morrison, Cole, and The King weren’t paying any attention to the match and were just passing along insults and it was distracting on television.

Batista defeated JBL

Batista defeated JBL in a pretty cool match up. JBL didn’t look as fat as he usually looks, and I was actually impressed with him. Batista is huge in person, HUGE!

This match was cool, Jericho refused to count Batista’s pinfall attempt, and it was great stuff. Throwing in Regal, and having him interfering in the match was great stuff. Also, having Randy Orton at ringside really didn’t do a whole lot besides him looking stupid. Jericho got knocked outside of the ring, a new ref came down, I saw Adamle come out to the ramp, and Batista wins this one in a lot of excitement! I marked out huge for Batista, because I’m a little kid I guess.

Dark Match #2 Batista & Rey Mysterio defeated Kane & Chris Jericho

Those of us in the arena got a real treat to see this dark match. Batista and Rey Mysterio defeated Kane and Jericho in a spotfest, quick match. It was cool to get something special at the end, and the wrestlers really put on a little extra entertainment for the live crowd.

All in all, being in the Arena makes things so much better, I really loved this Raw, and while it didn’t feel the same to watch it on television, it was amazing to see in person.

Raw results 9/1/08 and Review Orton’s Return

I’m back from vacation and not a moment too soon, as we got an interesting Raw.

Randy Orton comes out with an arm sling and puts everyone in the back on blast. He says everyone sucks and that the champions on Raw are weak. He then calls out C.M Punk who obliges and comes out to fire back. Orton is gold on the mic, and Punk fires back too, Punk has gotten really good at defending himself against the heels.

Orton stops short of brawling, and decides to leave the ring.

JBL comes out and talks smack, then Kane comes out, and finally Batista comes out and starts to knock people out.

This opening segment wasn’t all that great to me. In fact I didn’t like it that much and didn’t want Orton to arrive just yet. Most likely, Punk is going to lose the title due to interference with Orton.

Kofi Kingston defeated Charlie Haas (Dressed as John Cena)

Everyone thought John Cena was going to come out to wrestle, but nope. It was just Charlie Haas dressed as John Cena, and it was hilarious! I loved last week’s Charlito gimmick, but this feels a bit weird now. I remember when Big Show had this gimmick, and it seemed to work for him, but this isn’t going to work to Charlie Haas at all. Kofi comes out and beats the crap out of Charlie, and the crowd enjoys another quick match up where Haas gets buried. How long before Charlie Haas gets fired? I don’t know, it seems like it’s going to be sooner than later.

The match was quick, and was boring for the most part. I’m already growing tired of Kofi and his spots. We need to give him more competition. Apparently his feud with Burchill is way over, meaning it’s done, and he’s not really chasing the Intercontinental Championship at the moment, so he’s wrestling a jobber…Charlie Haas. Haas has fallen a long way since his days as a part of the world’s greatest tag team with Shelton Benjamin. Kofi wins easily, and I’m tired.

Backstage Adamle Segment:

There was a backstage segment with Teddy Long and Mike Adamle about two matches for later on in the night, and Kane interrupts. This further brings the speculation that Rey Mysterio will not be at Unforgiven, but rather it is going to be Mike Adamle dressed up as Rey Mysterio! You just wait!

ECW Champion Mark Henry defeated Matt Hardy, Finlay, The Miz & Chavo Guerrero in a Battle Royal

If they wanted to make Mark Henry a real monster, this did it for sure. Mark Henry simply dominated the match up. The crowd was over on Hardy and was going crazy, I kid you not, the crowd can not get any louder for a super star right now, and as Mark Henry was starting to lose, he somehow managed to get things back and rolling, winning over the rest of the ECW staff. Mark Henry is not a great wrestler, but he’s proving that he can definitely get things moving.

Jamie Noble defeated William Regal

I’m not sure where this story is going, but Jamie Noble finally wins a match! Yeah, the little guy gets beaten down for the majority of the match up. He basically trashes Noble for 75% of this match and he really just beats the crap out of the smaller opponent. Noble is getting paid to get beaten down week after week, as if he’s Mikey Whipwreck, and yet he lacks the audience participation. Regal loses a match after a roll up, and this is suppose to be a convincing win? This is dumb, and the diva he has with him doesn’t help things for me. Sorry. The match up wasn’t a technical classic by any stretch of the word, but it was interesting to see none the less. Noble has a lot of talent, but it’s really wasted in these matches as he just gets beat down a whole lot.

Candice Michelle, Mickie James & Kelly Kelly defeated WWE Women's Champion Beth Phoenix, Jillian & Katie Lea Burchill in a Six-Diva Tag Match

The women’s match up was ok. It was just your average match up with tags, and while some of it was definitely great, you can’t help but notice which divas are good in ring and which ones suck. There’s a lot of them that aren’t that great, and I’m not sure when the WWE is going to get more divas in there. In this match up, there are six divas in the ring, and you know what? That’s the whole division isn’t it? Well, it’s a good majority of it, and while these six women have improved since the debut of the diva’s in wwe, I think that this is better than usual. I liked it for what it was, and seeing some of the missteps only made me believe that some of the women genuinely don’t like each other backstage. I liked the match, and enjoyed seeing Candice Michelle come back, although she reminded me a lot of Victoria when she returned after an injury a few years back.

Intercontinental Champion Santino Marella defeated D-Lo Brown in a non-title match

I’m not sure why I thought this was going to be greater. It wasn’t all that great at all. Santino still doesn’t do a lot of wrestling, however his promo was funny, and he’s really a good guy to get beat down. He really took a fast beating and I thought for sure that D-Lo was going to win, but nope, right when I had a glimmer of hope, D-Lo does the job and gets beat clean. D-Lo goes for the frogsplash and misses, only to get Santino defeating D-Lo brown easily.

Cryme Tyme and The Miz & John Morrison wrestled to a no-contest

The first thing I thought when I saw this match up, was that I didn’t like how they were setting this up for failure. Why is Cryme Tyme wrestling Miz and Morrison? They aren’t even on the same program. This match ended before it started, and Dibiase and Rhodes came down to the ring and beat down Cryme Tyme. Of course Miz and Morrison still get paid, but oh well. The tag champions finally look good! Seriously, it’s about time the tag team champions look strong! I think that these guys could be great, if they continue to roll through with this type of mean streak!

Kane defeated World Champion CM Punk, Batista and JBL in a Battle Royal

This was a good ending to what otherwise a lackluster showcase. I really liked how this went through. The main event is not half bad, these wrestlers are definitely a lot better than just having Cena roll over everyone. They finally got Kane to win something! Seriously, it’s about time that Kane got a push, but it was short lived as Rey Mysterio Returned to WWE Raw tonight! The match had it’s moments, I admit it. C.M. Punk was trying to solidify his legacy and Orton was ringside. Punk had the crowd way behind him, it was great. A great spot happened at the end, when Kane caught Punk off the top rope and immediately threw him out of the ring and onto the floor right in front of Randy Orton. Orton and Punk stared each other down, and this is going to get exciting if you ask me. Punk shoved water in Orton's face, and I thought Orton was going to take his sling off and beat down Punk. Instead, like I said earlier, Rey Mysterio Jr. returned to Raw!

Shawn Michaels and Chris Jericho Contract Signing:

Has there ever, ever, been a contract signing that didn't end up in a huge melee or fight between the two competitors? I don't ever remember a signing that didn't have major beat downs or fights, or anything break out. However, Jerry Lawler warned the competitors that if anything got physical the match at Unforgiven would be off. Things seemed to be going amicably, and then Jericho got on the mic and said that they didn't need security. Michaels and Jericho dismiss the security, and everyone clears the ringside area, and that's it. No security, just HBK and Chris Jericho. Jericho just lays it on thick and calls out Shawn Michaels, and the tension just gets heavier and heavier. Shawn Michaels then drops the promo of his life, and he gets into Chris Jericho's face!

The two then stand up face to face and I thought for sure it was going to go down right then and there. Lance Cade shows up and gets the living hell beat out of him. I kid you not, Lance Cade gets the living hell beaten out of him by Shawn Michaels.

A good ending to Raw.

WWE Raw Results 9/1/2008

Kofi Kingston defeated Charlie Haas

The show went well, and I liked most of it, however, it wasn't all that memorable. I liked it for what it was, but I wasn't completely sold on all the matches as the wrestling really lacked luster for a whole lot.

I was reading online and I hear that Shawn Michaels has injured his bicep. That could be a swerve, or it could be real. We'll see what happens right?

WWE Raw Review 8/4/2008 Mike Adamle GM Edition

Mike Adamle sucks. But then again, he draws so much natural heat that he can suck all he wants, because he somehow makes it worthwhile. I like Adamle, he’s got some big balls, especially since he used to play in the NFL! Dang, kid must be fast, Adamle sucks as an announcer, but he’s not bad as a general manager…so far. JBL has natural heat too, and he gets booed the crap out of, which is hilarious to me.

Chris Jericho running out during JBL’s impromptu meeting was great, and even though the two of them are suppose to be heeling it up, they play off each other quite well, and the fans are are conflicted as to whom they should cheer.

Adamle may not be ideal to most, but he books Y2J and JBL against Punk and if punk wins no one gets a title shot at summerslam! Adamle comes out swinging, and I like it, it’s not half bad yet. I do mean yet! Things could shake up fast, we don’t know.

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston vs. Paul Burchill

This match up surprised me. I thought for sure the WWE would wait for a ppv to unleash this match on the public. Paull Burchill is brutal at times, but Kofi is just amazing. Kofi’s got such hops, it’s not even funny. I haven’t seen someone with so much athleticism, since Ron Killings first came into the WWE. Kofi definitely holds his own against Paul Burchill, but Paul manages to ground and pound his way through the match up, forcing Kingston to stay off the high flying arsenal that he usually has going for him early on in the matches. Kofi drops Paul with “The Trouble in Paradise” to the face, and knockouts the big guy for another successful title defense. This match was quick, but it was worth while, and had both men showing off what they could do.

Post match, Paul tried to attack Kofi, but couldn’t get him cornered.

Mickie James comes out immediately after the intercontinental title match, and Katie Lea.

WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James vs. Katie Lea

These two went at it really well. Early on Mickie James had some good offense, and the shots looked stiff at times. The two women put on a show, and Mickie James has really improved lately. She’s definitely transitioned to more than just a Stratus clone. Katie Lea took some mean bumps, and still managed to stay competitive for a good portion of this match up. I am surprised that the WWE let these women take so many risks. I thought for sure Katie Lea had injured her neck on one of the moves, but she was a pro, took the punishment and lost thanks to a big DDT from Mickie James. Overall a good title defense for Mickie James.

Post Match, The Glamazon attacks immediately, and just tears apart Mickie James. Beth Phoenix definitely is my favorite wwe women’s competitor right now, and while Mickie James is good, Beth Phoenix just has so much going for her, in looks, style, and Santino! I like her, I’m sorry. Santino coming out to clap for her was brilliant too, and well…that guy is lucky if this is more than just an on screen romance.

It must be cool to work with such hot women. I get to work with two idiots, and well…no women…not even ugly ones. Man, I am going to strangle my guidance counselor, seriously!

Santino Backstage Segment:

The Glamazon and Santino talk to Adamle about getting a title shot. Santino is hilarious, and the two have completely different opinions about their Summerslam opponents. The two get their wish, but in a skewed way. Adamle and Santino have some great chemistry, and wow, they really are trying hard back there, and I don’t hate Adamle quite so much. For Summerslam, The Glamazon & Santino will face Mickie James & Kofi Kingston, and the winner gets both the Intercontinental and Women’s Championship…uh….what the? This seems weird to me. I don’t know what’s going to happen on this one, but apparently Santino and Beth could get the titles? Or one person gets the title? I’m not sure.

Batista Interview Segment:

Lame. They need to stop these. I like the old promo’s with the fake backgrounds and random speeches. Remember those? Those really put things over, but unfortunately Batista’s interview segment sucks.

Layla In Ring Segment:

This was dumb too. Layla dances in the ring like the old Nitro Girls, and it bores me.

Wait?

What happened with the PG rating system? This doesn’t seem PG to me, this is definitely TV 14 or higher…too much sex appeal, I don’t like it.

William Regal interrupts the dancing, finally!

Regal gets interrupted by Jamie Noble and the two begin one hell of a fist fight. Regal was taking some major closed fist shots, and Noble was out there like a house of fire, just completely killing Regal, but referee’s interrupted the two, and nothing was resolved.

What a horrible waste of time, I hated this. This was so stupid. I can’t believe that they just threw together this feud over a mic segment and some stupid dancing from Layla. Noble sucks too, what ever happened to the cruiserweight division? I hate this piece of crap. This is just stupid. Regal is getting thrown into the opening match at Summerslam with none other than Noble, or at least an unannounced match up or even a dark match, and much to the dismay of the ticket holders, they’ll have to put up with it.

CM Punk vs. JBL and Chris Jericho

Here we go, the stipulations get cleared up, as they were previously foggy. This match is a handicap match and if JBL or Chris Jericho wins, they will get a title shot at summerslam. However, if Punk wins neither guy will get a title shot. However, again, they have 10 minutes to win, and if they do not win in 10 minutes, the match at Summerslam will be a triple threat match for the world title. Got it? I know, this is confusing.

Alright, this match up was awesome to me. It had a lot to offer in a short amount of time, and the story behind it worked well for me. The fact that Y2J and JBL couldn’t figure out how to start the match was a great set up for me, and JBL being absent for a good portion of this match up was interesting. Had I been in the match up, I would have let Y2j done most of the dirty work, then jumped in to get the 3 count. JBL seemed to be doing just that, letting it seem that Jericho’s punishment to him outside was more severe than it was. CM Punk began his inevitable comeback, but JBL jumped in to stop that in a hurry, and we got more differences from Y2J and JBL. I must also note that Chris Jericho was out there in short tights, you know, the underwear kind. Lame.

JBL and Jericho couldn’t work together and started to fight each other, CM Punk got some time to rest, and then was thrown back into the lion’s den by JBL. I can’t emphasize more, the fact that Jericho and JBL couldn’t work together at all, towards the end of the time limit, they were basically fighting each other, and Punk waited for an opening and embarrassed both Y2j and JBL by dropping JBL with a top rope clothesline, then reversing the Y2J running bulldog, and then the crowd came alive!

Punk gets the GTS on JBL and I thought this match was done, but nope, Y2J interferes, Punk then goes for a powerslam on Jericho and I started to get really excited, since it was at the 1:38 minute left mark, and on come the close falls! The two counts were so close in this one, and I don’t know how the ref and the wrestlers kept up with this, but the crowd was going nuts, I was going nuts, and this match had me really wondering who’d come out on top. This was ridiculous, the amount of time spent in such close quarters and the timing, just great stuff. Jericho had Punk in the walls of Jericho for the last remainder of the time, but JBL interrupts, and with 22 seconds left tries to pull off a late victory. Jericho jumps up to the apron, stuns JBL with a top rope clothesline drop, JBL drops backwards onto CM Punk, inadvertently pinning CM Punk and with 4 seconds left on the clock, defeats CM PUNK! That’s right, JBL pinned CM Punk to get the title shot at Summerslam!

The timing on this had to be perfect, there was no way this could work without timing. JBL and Y2J had this well executed and JBL winning was not what I expected, but he is going to get Punk again one on one at Summerslam for the title. The match was definitely the best thing I’ve seen on Raw in a long time. Y2J is definitely in line for a title shot, just not at Summerslam.

HBK interview Segment:

HBK talks about his eye, via Satellite from his house in San Antonio, Texas. HBK says that his doctors are going to take control this time and that he’s not going to jump in if there is any risks to his health, HBk will walk away. He claims that he’ll be at Summerslam to get the final decision.

I think that HBK is either heeling it up, or he’s seriously consider retiring. However, we know that people in wrestling and now even the NFL, never really retire. We’ll see what happens, I’m not sure what they are going to do, I’m not sure if this is legit or just a script. We’ll find out at the end of the month, and hopefully it isn’t too crazy.

Matt Striker in ring Segment:

Adamle is thanked for letting Striker perform on Raw. Striker has some great mic skills, and I think this can be great, if they allow him to wrestle, and not just throw him into chaos…and you know what? I spoke way too soon, because Kane’s fire shoots out and Striker is going to get buried.

Kane defeated Matt Striker

Striker gets pummeled into submission, Kane wins easily. This is stupid. I hate when they bury what could be a good mid carder or even someone that could eventually get into the main event. I know, I’m giving Striker a lot of credit, but he kind of reminds me of Rick “The Model” Martel who had a good run in the WWF back in the day. He also made a good comeback in WCW as just Rick Martel, and I definitely thought it was one of the better comebacks in wrestling history. Too bad about his injuries and ultimate retirement, but that’s just how it goes. This match wasn’t anything memorable at all. Kane squashes Striker, and Striker doesn’t have to teach school any longer, he can be on the WWE roster, getting laughed at by his former students watching.

John Cena Interview Segment:

John Cena name drops Jack Tunney, making me mark out like a little kid! This is boring to me. Seriously, John Cena sucks right now. He needs to get a heel push, and if possible a heel push like Stone Cold Steven Austin. He doesn’t have to be overtly heel, he could just be his old thuganomics style and if people cheer, they cheer, and if they hate him they hate him, but he shouldn’t play to the crowd. I don’t know, this interview was bland, and I know Cena has skills, but WWE doesn’t want him to be a bad guy. He could be a great heel/face blur, just like he was back when he was the U.S Champion. Or when he was coming out with retro NBA jerseys, depending on the city he was in, and getting that cheap pop, alongside his freestyles that weren’t exactly PG rated. I guess, John Cena is more important as a face, and good guy, because he sells merchandise for the kids and women that love the guy. They need a change, that’s all I am saying.

Kelly & Adamle Backstage Segment:

Kelly can’t act at all. Adamle is better though, and this whole “Adamle” original moniker is awesome. He promises that next week, we’re going to find out what is inside Kane’s bag, and if he doesn’t give it up, he’s going to take it from Kane. Bold words from Adamle, that’s for sure. Kelly sucks, why are they pushing such a stupid talent? She can’t even make her scripted lines believable. Adamle is good though, he’s been impressing me all night.

I guess that’s not hard, considering I had very very low expectations.

WWE Tag Team Champions Priceless vs. John Cena & Batista

This match was somewhat predictable. You can spot these matches from a mile away, and predict how they are going to turn out. Batista hits his shoulder early on, prompting Cena to wait for the hot tag, he then cleans house and eventually gets controlled by Priceless. Priceless does a great job working over Cena, and this is the turning point: Cena reaches for Batista, Batista backs up and barely extends his hands to Cena, forcing Cena to get really close but just can’t get the tag. Eventually Cena mounts a comeback, and instead of tagging Batista, he slaps Batista in the face! That counts as a tag! Batista and Cena stair each other down, and Batista fights off both Dibiase and Rhodes, and eventually gets the pin.

First and foremost, the two stare each other down and raise their tag championship belts high, and the crowd goes nuts.

My problem with this match is not the match itself, it’s the bigger picture. The WWE once again screws over the tag team division by hot shotting the titles. Cena and Batista are horrible champions and shouldn’t have won this match. They should have lost the match and blamed each other for losing, and then took it out on each other at the ppv. Instead, they are now the champions and the real Tag Team Division looks like crap. They could then segue and transition the former champions into single wrestlers, and this is stupid. I hate how the WWE gives the credibility of tag team championship wrestling out the window! And for what? So Batista and Cena can go over? This is stupid. I hate this ending. Oh well.

Raw 8/4/2008 Quick Results:

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston def. Paul Burchill
WWE Women's Champion Mickie James def. Katie Lea Burchill
BL & Chris Jericho def. World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk in a 2-on-1 Handicap Match (JBL pinned CM Punk)
Kane def. Matt Striker
John Cena & Batista def. World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase to become the new champions

The best part of the show was not the ending, in fact that was the worse. The Woman’s title match up, and the CM Punk match was the best part. I really liked the way the Punk match worked out.

Kane’s mask? Next week? Dang you Adamle!

Adamle over all wasn’t all that bad. It wasn’t that bad at all, I hate him as the announcer, but as the Raw GM he’s not that bad at all.

The whole night seemed a little fast to me, and while the matches were ok, the middle of the show was great and progressed the show further.

I still think there was too much backstage and in ring segments, but it seemed like they allowed more wrestling on this show, and I enjoyed it. I think Raw sets up a great week of wrestling, now if only the rest of the week is this good.

WWE Raw Review 7/29/08 New GM Night

I expect that you, the reader, saw Raw and are not relying on me to recap the whole show for your. So instead of my usual review, I’m going to mix things up a little, and start adding more commentary. Anyone can recap the events, but this is a wwe blog, and not a wwe news site, so please bare with me as I get down to some roots and start going on about random crap that happened on Raw. I’ll still have the quick results at the bottom for those of you that want the straight up truth. If you check out the right side of the site you can get into the more news related topics. So let’s go!

John Cena In Ring Segment:

John Cena is wearing a hilarious hat that looks like an Army Hat, and it says “you Can’t See me”. One thing is for sure, Batista didn’t see that punch to the face coming. I can’t believe how many people in the arena are booing the crap out of Cena. I know that when I went to see WWE live in Los Angeles, Ca. (No Way Out PPV) the kids were over powering anyone booing Cena, myself included. Batista comes out to a sick bop, with an old Washington Bullets jersey, and the crowd is goes nuts.

I’m hoping this leads into a John Cena heel turn, and Batista turns full blow face, and we get to the old Cena. I liked when Cena was a bad man, and I almost felt like he was going to do it at the beginning of the segment.

Batista forgiving Cena was funny to me, but what was funnier was that Batista slipped up his lines a ton of times, but he kept recovering. Batista is lucky he is in his home town.

Cena vs. Batista would be interesting, and I was scrambling inside my head to see if they have ever gone one on one, and I couldn’t remember.

Shane McMahon Comes Out:

Cena vs. Batista gets squashed right away, and there is a tag team match up coming. Lame. I thought for sure McMahon was going to be the new GM and that he was going to announce himself as the General Manager, but he made it seem like it was someone else. He then said that CM Punk would wrestle again tonight.

I am once again stating it again. CM Punk is wrestling a lot of singles matches and is working HARDER than Triple H. When is the last time Triple H wrestle an opponent that wasn’t Chavo! Seriously, I don’t believe that Punk is getting a fair shake as the champion.

Santino & Beth Phoenix defeated Kelly Kelly & D-Lo Brown

I marked out big for D-Lo Brown, I thought this could end up being a good match up, but instead, I was sorely disappointed. I didn’t like this match, and I don’t think the fans really liked it at all. D-Lo Brown was thrown out fast, and Santino jumped in to wrestling Kelly Kelly. I kid you not, the WWE allowed Santino to wrestle Kelly and roll her up for the win and a quick victory. This was boring to me, and I knew that the WWE was doing something for the post match rather than the match itself.

Santino’s victory dance was hilarious, he was marching around playing an imaginary trumpet, and acting as though he had just won the world championship, rather than just a random tag team match up. He then gets ready to leave the ring, but Beth grabs him and kisses him, leaving him bewildered in the ring.

So much for that PG rating, right? I think that Man on Woman violence is not PG, but that kiss was so innocent somehow that maybe it cancels out the fact that Santino was wrestling Kelly Kelly instead of D-Lo for the majority of the mixed tag team match up. I still think there is something odd about that.

Shane McMahon Backstage Segment:

JBL sucks, but man does he generate heat! JBL is not my favorite wrestler, but he’s one of the best Heels in the business right now. With Randy Orton out of the picture, JBL is picking up the slack greatly, and his segment with Shane McMahon is great. McMahon didn’t take any slack from JBL, and I hope this sets up a match between the two, where Shane McMahon jumps off the ropes and lands through eight tables, on fire, underwater, in a cage…I’m getting carried away. McMahon taking a phone call in the midst of talking to JBL was hilarious, and JBL looked seriously concerned. JBL needs a little more credit sometimes.

Cody Rhodes & Ted Dibiase Jr. defeated Michael Cole & Jerry The King Lawler

The new general manager changed the match up right before it started, and made Michael Cole Jerry Lawler’s partner instead of Jim Duggan.

*The Announce Team was NOT calling this match, and no replacement was found. This was like being there live, with no one calling the action!!!

Michael Cole stayed outside of the ring for a long time, and Lawler took control of the situation for a while, before getting thrown into the corner. When Michael Cole touched him the ref thought it was a tag, and then we saw Cole get a fast beatdown and a roll up for the win. This was poorly executed and not entertaining, to me. I think its stupid to have Cole in there, for no apparent reason. At least they didn’t really put the boots to him, but it was interesting to see this develop. I don’t believe that the tag team champions should be fighting the announce team.

Mike Adamle comes out to replace Michael Cole. He plays it off that he’s not there for the ECW taping later, and The King doesn’t immediately roast him, but plays along with the notion. It should be noted that Adamle is getting better, and although he’s not as bad as before, he’s not as perfect as Jim Ross, but then again, Ross has been doing it for many decades, so it’s not fair to compare the two directly.

Jamie Noble In Ring Segment:

Noble has some mic skills, and he’s not half bad. However, it’s hard to take him seriously, because he just looks hilarious out there. He’s got new tights, that’s kind of cool. Calling out the Intercontinental Champion isn’t the wisest move, considering Noble hasn’t won a match since he was the Cruiserweight Champion. Oh well, he’s trying to impress a chick, that seems to be his motivation.

Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston defeated Jamie Noble

In a quick match up, Kofi Kingston dropped Jamie Noble with every move he had in succession. Kingston basically squashed a jobber as far as I’m concerned, with some impressive moves, and incredible height on his part. I thought it was incredible to see a new African American getting pushed, but his mic skills might be lacking, and that might be where Kingston turns into another Shelton Benjamin after a short time, and back on ECW for the jobber status. However, for now, Kingston is enjoying his run as the Intercontinental Champion, considering he’s defending it a lot more than the previous champions. Noble has no hope, unless there is a new Cruiserweight division coming soon, which I highly doubt. This was a squash match, and was really not worth time, but yet, I found it necessary to talk about it for this much.

CM Punk defeated William Regal

I’m getting used to seeing these types of matches. William Regal basically tears up CM Punk for the majority of the match, and then at the last moments of this match up CM Punk sneaks out a win, but with a bloody lip. Regal works really stiff in this match, and he really puts the boots to Punk, trying to stretch the limits of the Champion. I thought for sure, that Punk might be in trouble on many instances, but he managed to pull one out and win. Regal is looking smaller now, but that might work for him, as he’s faster now. He must be off the juice, but then again, Regal has never had a lot of definition in his body, so maybe this isn’t all that different, just a tad bit smaller. Punk gets mopped up afterwards as Kane and JBL team up to knock out the champ, after the fact, as if he needs to continually be beaten to earn the right to be the champion. I think that Punk is losing steam, and we might start seeing the beginning of the end of his title reign. I’m not sure If I would bank on Punk being champion for a long time, he just seems to be out numbered at each turn.

Y2J’s Final Highlight Reel:

Jericho plays an awesome highlight reel of himself! This was awesome, but too short if you ask me. Jericho is hilarious, and it’s interesting to see the past years of Chris Jericho in the WWE. It was more comedic than in ring, which was stupid, and like I said, it was too short.

Does Chris Jericho really deserve a title shot? I must admit, he did defeat HBK, but come on, does Jericho deserve another shot at the title? Maybe. He did have a title shot when he returned, but maybe it’s time for something new in the title scene, this could be great, but I’m not sure if it’s going to go down the way Jericho thinks.

*It should be noted that Jim Ross comes out to do commentary for the rest of the night alongside Adamle and Lawler.

WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James vs. Jillian

Mickie James is just a carbon copy of Trish Stratus. Don’t believe me? Look at her entrance and mannerisms. They seem to be following the former Women’s champion a lot. Jillian has improved a lot, and really impressed me with some indie maneuvers, and maybe the knockouts in TNA are forcing WWE to train their divas a bit more, as this match was a lot more brutal than recent fair, and maybe the WWE Divas don’t suck as bad as I had previously stated. The crowd seems to be a little dead though, but Mickie James seems to get some positive cheers. I’m not convinced that she’s the best in the company, but she’s a lot better than when she initially started in the WWE as a Trish Stratus stalker. Remember that one? Mickie James wins with no major problem, although Jillian did give her a quick and hard match up. Katie Burchill jumps Mickie James afterwards, right in front of James’ father, and then gets on the mic for no apparent reason. I liked when Paul was a pirate, he had more charisma, and then I noticed something. Mickie James just went through a crazy match, right? Sure, but Katie Burchill comes down to ringside does 4 moves and makes Mickie James seem like she just went through hell? Really? Seriously? I guess so.

John Cena and Batista Backstage Segment:

Batista and John Cena start arguing, and if this sparks a Cena Heel turn, I’m going to mark out like a little girl! Seriously, Turn Cena HEEL!

John Cena & Batista defeated JBL & Kane

Being there live would have been incredible, watching this match at home, it wasn’t all that great, and the match’s only selling point for me was to see what would develop with Batista and John Cena. That’s all I really care about in this match up. I honestly don’t like tag team matches with partners that are supposedly bickering, and then all of a sudden have to team up. It just doesn’t make a lot of sense to me, and it seems to be the Raw and Smackdown standard. Like I said, being there live would be incredible as the emotion of the ring is just over powering, however on television, the only thing I cared about was Cena and Batista. The debate was on heavy in my head, and then I remembered, the General Manager has been teased throughout the whole time! So that added a third element to the madness as well. You knew the ending before the match was over. Cena with the win, the kids will most likely go out and buy more merch. Lame. I think Batista and Cena’s rivalry could have come into play with a massive heel turn. I’m reminded of the classic Ric Flair turns in these matches, where he would get tagged in, and then BOOM the turn! I always liked those. You always saw them coming.

The new General Manager of Raw is:

MIKE ADAMLE!!!!!

I kid you not, Mike Adamle is the new general manager of Raw! WTF? Everyone in the building was swerved completely, and everyone was booing. I was booing at my television. Really? Adamle? Of all the people! One thing is for sure, the people were booing the crap out of Adamle, and that was great. I’m not sure if Adamle is going to be the announcer on ECW still, but it’s a wise move to get him away from commentary and into the general manager’s position. Although, I would have preferred someone like Mick Foley, or maybe even Eric Bischoff, but instead we get Adamle, the most hated announcer in the wwe right now.

WWE Raw Quick Results 7/28/2008

Santino Marella & Beth Phoenix def. D-Lo Brown & Kelly Kelly
World Tag Team Champions Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase def. Jerry “The King” Lawler & Michael Cole to retain (World Tag Team Championship Match)
Intercontinental Champion Kofi Kingston def. Jamie Noble
World Heavyweight Champion CM Punk def. William Regal
WWE Women's Champion Mickie James def. Jillian
John Cena & Batista def. JBL & Kane

What about Raw? It wasn’t half bad at times, and there was a lot of anticipation for the General Manager. I thought for sure it was going to be someone else, maybe even Shane McMahon. Why wasn’t it Shane? Most likely he is busy because he’s head of Multimedia/Interactive Media Design for the WWE, and my dream boss. Why not Vince? He’s overloaded previously. Why not Stephanie? She just had a kid didn’t she? Oh well.

The matches on Raw were short and to the point, furthering story lines rather than pushing athleticism. Oddly enough, no signs of London, Snitsky, Rey Mysterio Jr, and many other Raw wrestlers. In fact, the show was devoid of any new and/or scarcely used mid carders with the exception of Jamie Noble, who was quickly squashed fast.

The best part of Raw is hard to say. I’m not sure if there was a best part this week. All the matches weren’t really pushing any limits, and weren’t really creating anything crazy for me. If I had to choose a favorite moment, it would have to be seeing William Regal coming down and giving a good fight to Punk was good, but not the best match that I’ve seen Regal in. Punk narrowly escaping defeat each time reminds me a lot of Hulk Hogan’s entire career, and it shouldn’t be that way in 2008. However, it seems that the WWE is slowly trying to push that style of champion into the forefront. Whatever.

I’m tired.

Raw was ok at best. Nothing too grand. I still want to see more heels, new heels, anything but the same old guys coming through.
